The reason why this cartoon was so awesome was because Jem was an all female band and with it being from the 80s the music style was 80s glam metal which is what Jem is, it stands out as there were far fewer great all female metal bands in this era. The cartoon featuring their "music videos" like you would see on MTV was exactly right for the time. There is no computer retouching with the music and singing, it's 80s guitarists and singers, what you hear is what they played. The reason why this new film version sucks is because the format has been transferred to the modern day X-Factor dominated shitty One Direction music style, the themes in this film are done to death on TV with the prominence of a million X-Factor type music talent shows. And the music in the film is so over dubbed and over processed it sounds like any other manufactured chart tosh, what you hear has been passed through so many computer programs that what you hear is deff not what they played or sound like....
