For some reason, Hollywood seems incapable of adapting cartoons to live action correctly. I try to pretend the only Transformers movie ever made is the 1986 animated one.
I very much agree, except that Bumblebee, the movie, is not bad actually. I know, it surprised me as well. Oh, also, Chickbait made a pretty great fan-made live action Jem short.
Although, The Misfits songs are better Britta is an undeniable talent! And I hear echoes of her voice in Lauren Mayberry, the lead singer from Chvrches.
I agree with the description Jem is a very well written cartoon, yes some episodes are complete garbage but it also has amazing episodes. It could get incredibly deep and mature something I really didn't expect, I would be lying if I said I didn't cry a bit during episodes like "out of the past". This show is my childhood (even though I was born in the 2000s) and it's one of my favourite cartoons, thanks for this list! :)
No 'In the Land of the Midnight Sun'? lol. I'm a LOT older than you and a dude but grew up in the 80s and loved the songs and action in this show :D That song and the opening theme were the only ones I remember, and 'Welcome to the Jungle' by the Misfits. Maybe they were in the same ep that I remember? But anyhoo, thanks for steering me toward more awesome songs ^_^ ~Nick/Protectobot (80s Transformers cartoon reference...)
How is this show from your childhood if you were born in the 2000s? Did they show it on tv where you are from? I was born in 77 and I consider r the loony tunes to be from my childhood even thought they were made like in the 1700s.

I was literally a child of the 80's and I remember watching this series when it was NEW, and the dolls were in the stores. As I kid I didn't realize how "deep" the show was with it's adult themes and complex storylines. Now as an adult, listening to these songs, I think to myself, these are LEGIT 80's songs. U young enough to be my daughter. I was born in '84 and I was 1 when this ORIGINALLY aired. My mom was your age then and I lived for Saturday morning cartoons. My top 10 1. I got my eye on you 2. When it’s only me and the music 3.something is missing in my life 4.universal appeal 5.starlight 6.first love 7.alone again 8. it all depends on the mood I’m in 9.cant get my love together 10.a father should be
@@popi2971 Agree with the movie premise but Jerrica/Jem should’ve dumped Rio 5 episodes in. He was such an insecure asshole honestly. I know Rio was Jerrica’s first love or something, but geez. He didn’t really have any character development either. I kinda liked Riot more, especially after seeing the episode in season 3 about his backstory and home life situation. Hasbro ordered 13-episode contracts for this show in particular and I assume it got canceled due to declining doll sales and the abrupt “finale” episode. I sometimes refer to it as “season 2 ½,” lol. Absolutely adore this show though and I’m 14. I think it has a lot of charm, and of course absolutely fantastic songs. It’s amazing they included 3 fully-produced songs in each episode (obviously their were repeats with different music videos, but yeah). They put a lot of effort into it; I appreciate it more then the creators & animators know.
Who is he kissing should be number one. That was Jem's best song. My opinion is this: 1:Who Is He Kissing 2:Nightmare 3:Something Is Missing In My Life 4:Too Close 5:I Got My Eye On You 6:Jealousy 7:Deception 8:Twilight In Paris 9:We Can Make A Difference 10:Only The Beginning 11:Love Is Doing It 12: Like A Dream 13: It All Depends On The Mood I'm In. All the songs are great, but those songs are outstanding 👍🏾
I was born in '87 and can totally understand you! Even though here in germany I could just watch it via "SuperChannel" when I was a little kid and didn't understand everything (I was like 5-6 years old when it aired). I'm still a big fan of the 80s. :) I really enjoy the show, the songs (that were sometimes really progressive for that time) and the aesthetic. To refresh the beauty of this show - I just rewatched it. My Top 10: - Come on in the waters fine - Everybody wears a mask - Like a dream - Love is doin it to me - She's got the power - Truly outrageous - Twilight in paris - Who is he kissing - Click/Clash - Outta my way
When I had Netflix I randomly found this show and I love it so much. I watched it over 3 times it is so good. And I dont have anything to watch atm so I'm definently watching this again.
When Jem was originally on TV, I would sit next to the TV with my tape recorder and record the songs from the show so that I could listen to them again.
😉Why i didn't do that? I 've listened "JEM" again, only in 2011 on my computer." CLICH CLASH" & SHE 'S GOT THE POWER" were often on my mind between 1986 and 2011 when i thought about the show😊..... I 've still listened JEM & the MISFIT'S (OUTTA MY WAY" I LIKE YOUR STYLE" on 2011😊.
@@pierrepinson2906 LOL it use to come on in the morning so I would set the VCR to record and watch when I got home from school. I watched those tapes over and over LOL
Some of the songs were better than others (says he, stating the obvious), but it did feel like they put quite a bit of effort into each of them. That can't have been easy. Honestly though, my favourite song from the series was Universal Appeal.
"All Depends on the Mood I'm in" and "Like a Dream" were my favorites.. *side note: I quit ballet when I was a kid bc jem was my idol and this show came on at the same time as my classes. After my VCR failed twice to record when I was in class, I was devastated..and done with ballet 😆
no it doesnt. there is plenty of great music today. you just cant listen to popular shit like what's on the radio because it sucks. but there are tons of great artists making music today. don't dismiss things because you want to deny them, you could really miss out on great music by having a closed mind.
Favorite 10: We can make a difference Like a dream Truly Outrageous She's got the power She makes an impression Set your sails Time is running out Deception I got my eye on you Nightmare
"Taking a train" may not be your cup of tea, but it is a true novelty song, because Jem sings this phrase at least 30 x times, then trails off and sounds like the lonesome whistle of the steam locomotive, the Iron Horse, then the sound of a synthysised steam whistle is added over her voice, and it trails off and echos in the distance. Plus I have a large model railroad collection, in all the popular scales, from Z to 1:8th large live steamers, and soon, a real train, like a caboose, and Pullman car.
I absolutely want these songs on a record. It's amazing how relatable the songs are. Personally, at this moment my favorite is Can't Get My Love Together.
It's the only cartoon for girls ever made featuring adult characters that I know of... Boys usually have adult heroes, girls have these little girl heroes. Just a weird fact of life.
I agree with this list all their song is hits for a cartoon. Like the chipmunks adventure movie has the best music too and the hex girls songs too r good. I loved ive got my eye on u. Loved it all. Can u do the misfit next they had a slight few of good song cant recall the titles by they had song hits.
Has it ever accured to jerica could tell rio the truth they've know each other since they were ten years old, they've been together through thick and thin I very much doubt rio's feelings for jerica will change, yes he might feel little hurt and a bit over whelmed by the truth and synegy, sadly we'll never know since they only did three seasons and stopped after banee left with her dad while everyone sang 'this is farewell'.
Lol, I remember watching it as a little girl, but looking at it as an adult I love it even more. I love how "80's" it is...the music, the clothes...it's my guilty pleasure too!
I feel like the show was allowed to get away with more than most of it's time because it was a "girl" show and wasn't watched as strictly. Despite the surprising amount of action and explosions for a show about a glam girl rock group. You could tell the same people that made Transformers and GI Joe made it and sometimes I think they forgot what show was what. Of course that almost means it had it's share of dumb plots like the other two as well. All three shows had an episode where the lead is replaced by an imposter and nobody initially notices despite the obvious tells for example, and it and ton of 80s cartoons had an episode where they go to Shangri-La (or some equivalent) for some odd reason.
My Top Ten: 1) Glitter and Gold 2) Twilight in Paris 3) When it’s only me and the music 4) It's a hard hard life 5) I'm Okay 6) Like a Dream 7) Something is missing in my life 8) Running like the wind 9) Music is Magic 10) Love is Doin it to Me I grew up the early 2000s but when I was around 6 or 7 this show was on Netflix and went to watch and I fell in love with it and up until a few days I found that Jem and the Holograms was on Tubi and I went to rewatch this amazing show...three times...I'm telling you they don't make shows like this that much anymore like.
Let me ask this: How come record or CD companies never released actual copies of Jem and the Holograms or The Misfits' music? They did that with The Simpsons.
So now i am going to have watch my jem and hologram dvd. Bc they have the best music. Twilight in Paris is so good and that dreaming song the bomb. I wish i could by this music on iTunes..
this list has a majority of my favorite Jem songs thank you from a lifetime Jem fan! and I can agree with you that movie is total garbage and they have the nerve not to have any female perspective involved, especially Christy Marx the Creator and Jem of all people. I'm glad it bombed.
I'm also a grown up that never watched the show in its time, but I gave it a try last week, and now I'm a fan! haha I don't know but I love it! That 80s vibe to the top is great!

“Like A Dream” is the absolute best song from the entire series. The harmony, the lyrics; is Grammy worthy.
The chorus sounds like 'I got my mind set on you' by George Harrison. Still a really good tune though! I love jem, reliving my childhood memories :)

I kinda think Rio knew Jerrica was Jem.
@@josephclegg3562 They owe us at least an hour and a half "animated" movie where we see Jem coming clean to Rio and them ending up getting married.
My opinion is this:
1:Who Is He Kissing
2:Nightmare
3:Something Is Missing In My Life
4:Too Close
5:I Got My Eye On You
6:Jealousy
7:Deception
8:Twilight In Paris
9:We Can Make A Difference
10:Only The Beginning
11:Love Is Doing It
12: Like A Dream
13: It All Depends On The Mood I'm In.
All the songs are great, but those songs are outstanding 👍🏾
Cmon on in the water is fine, glitter and gold and dear diary need to be on the list.
Oh I can't believe I forgot Dear Diary - that is another on my top 10 .
I got my eye on you 💕😭
Best song ever lol
It All Depends On The Mood I'm In... Love the way the slap bass line and piano are locked in together. Great vocals.
I remember waking up at 4am when I was like 6 to watch this♥️🥺
I was born in '87 and can totally understand you!
Even though here in germany I could just watch it via "SuperChannel" when I was a little kid and didn't understand everything (I was like 5-6 years old when it aired).
I'm still a big fan of the 80s. :)
I really enjoy the show, the songs (that were sometimes really progressive for that time) and the aesthetic. To refresh the beauty of this show - I just rewatched it.
My Top 10:
- Come on in the waters fine
- Everybody wears a mask
- Like a dream
- Love is doin it to me
- She's got the power
- Truly outrageous
- Twilight in paris
- Who is he kissing
- Click/Clash
- Outta my way
these are still fire
I use to watch jem and the hologram with my dad. I wasn't ever born during the 80s.
Same
Brings back sweet memories 🥰 Thanks for posting 👩🏼🎤
When I had Netflix I randomly found this show and I love it so much. I watched it over 3 times it is so good. And I dont have anything to watch atm so I'm definently watching this again.
super solid list, actually all really good picks
Until did the very same thing myself.
Don't worry, you weren't the only one who did that.
You're in both good standing and good company.
:-)
Lol aw man. Good idea. Thank God for me I was gifted the cassette tapes for Christmas 😎
This brings back so many memories. Thanks for sharing👍👍👍👍😀😀😀
Some of the songs were better than others (says he, stating the obvious), but it did feel like they put quite a bit of effort into each of them. That can't have been easy.
Honestly though, my favourite song from the series was Universal Appeal.
Not the real me is one of favorites
Alls right with the world 2nd version...
Totally love the animation in this song.
Wishing they put these all in CD
O6 baby literally my childhood
Someone here 2020?
Yess
What have I missed my whole life?!😭💖💙💜❤
This show has kept me going my whole life
This cartoon is known for the animated music videos
"All Depends on the Mood I'm in"
and "Like a Dream" were my favorites..
*side note:
I quit ballet when I was a kid bc jem was my idol and this show came on at the same time as my classes. After my VCR failed twice to record when I was in class, I was devastated..and done with ballet 😆
Now I picture Black Swan, and one of your jealous classmates wrecking your VCR to take you out 🤣
Most certainly don't make music like this anymore today stuff sux hard
no it doesnt. there is plenty of great music today. you just cant listen to popular shit like what's on the radio because it sucks. but there are tons of great artists making music today. don't dismiss things because you want to deny them, you could really miss out on great music by having a closed mind.
@@Zenikat NOPE.
Hannah Montana is the Disney knockoff of Jem and the holograms
So did Lady Gaga and Katy Perry
Click/Clash is also a really good song in my opinion. One of my favorites.
All these songs sound so wonderfully 80's! It warms my heart.
Love it still now so what it back on tv for my kids
Favorite 10:
We can make a difference
Like a dream
Truly Outrageous
She's got the power
She makes an impression
Set your sails
Time is running out
Deception
I got my eye on you
Nightmare
Only me and the music 🎶 love it
The best song is show me the way depends on the mood but absolutely favorite song is all’s right in the world
DECEPTION should definitely be on this list.
THANK YOU!!!
I love this.
I’m a 2007 baby but my dad introduced me to this show because it was popular in his day. It was one of our favorite shows to watch together
Thank you for this!
I’m only 12 but jem I’ve been watching since 2 or 3
Born in 1984 and my 9-year-old niece just got into this and it brought proper nostalgia for me!
Thank you so much for posting this. Will be my new morning soundtrack.
It's the only cartoon for girls ever made featuring adult characters that I know of... Boys usually have adult heroes, girls have these little girl heroes. Just a weird fact of life.
It’s a nice change isn’t it
I agree with this list all their song is hits for a cartoon. Like the chipmunks adventure movie has the best music too and the hex girls songs too r good. I loved ive got my eye on u. Loved it all. Can u do the misfit next they had a slight few of good song cant recall the titles by they had song hits.
Britta Phillips who does Jem’s singing voice was also Billy in the movie satisfaction (and killed on Mr. Big Stuff)
Britta phillips had that voice that caught ur attention
Has it ever accured to jerica could tell rio the truth they've know each other since they were ten years old, they've been together through thick and thin I very much doubt rio's feelings for jerica will change, yes he might feel little hurt and a bit over whelmed by the truth and synegy, sadly we'll never know since they only did three seasons and stopped after banee left with her dad while everyone sang 'this is farewell'.
This whole series is so nostalgic even though I was born in '08
Love it! I was hoping you had Deception and Twilight in Paris.
+Bianca Kinloch I was hoping for Glitter and Gold to be honest
One of my faves too...I'm watching Jem now as I get ready for work, lol
Bianca Kinloch Lol Jem is my guilty pleasure and I wasnt even born when it was on or its taget audience
Lol, I remember watching it as a little girl, but looking at it as an adult I love it even more. I love how "80's" it is...the music, the clothes...it's my guilty pleasure too!
Bianca Kinloch i totally agree
Only the beginning my favorite song from the series 😁 I have it as my ringtone
I cannot believe you didn’t included “time is running out”!!!!
My Top Ten:
1) Glitter and Gold
2) Twilight in Paris
3) When it’s only me and the music
4) It's a hard hard life
5) I'm Okay
6) Like a Dream
7) Something is missing in my life
8) Running like the wind
9) Music is Magic
10) Love is Doin it to Me
I grew up the early 2000s but when I was around 6 or 7 this show was on Netflix and went to watch and I fell in love with it and up until a few days I found that Jem and the Holograms was on Tubi and I went to rewatch this amazing show...three times...I'm telling you they don't make shows like this that much anymore like.
classics - all of them! such vibes
This cartoon series is so dear to my heart. They really invested in the music team. I downloaded the only songs I could find!
Let me ask this: How come record or CD companies never released actual copies of Jem and the Holograms or The Misfits' music? They did that with The Simpsons.
Shout out to some of their underrated hits: Set Your Sails, Too Much, Love Unites Us, Broadway Magic, It's Fun To Be Scared and Running Like The Wind
So now i am going to have watch my jem and hologram dvd. Bc they have the best music. Twilight in Paris is so good and that dreaming song the bomb. I wish i could by this music on iTunes..
i'm a boy named jem and i find this hilarious!
Do you spell your name like Jem?
Wow 🤔✌
Music is Magic, I would say that one is the best. It did rival the Epic “Takin’ It All” from the Misfits.
this list has a majority of my favorite Jem songs thank you from a lifetime Jem fan! and I can agree with you that movie is total garbage and they have the nerve not to have any female perspective involved, especially Christy Marx the Creator and Jem of all people. I'm glad it bombed.
I'm also a grown up that never watched the show in its time, but I gave it a try last week, and now I'm a fan! haha I don't know but I love it! That 80s vibe to the top is great!
im 13 and love this song
Same I'm 12 and I love these songs sm
Please remember to always let your last thoughts be god please forgive me for all of my wrongdoings. .
