Lounge is the unofficial ranking system for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! When you wish to compete, you will play against other players of similar match-making rating (MMR). Depending on your MMR, you will place in one of the numerous ranks in Lounge:
Iron 1: 0-999 MMR
Iron 2: 1000-1999 MMR (Placement: 1500)
Bronze 1: 2000-2999 MMR (Placement: 2500)
Bronze 2: 3000-3999 MMR (Placement: 3500)
Silver 1: 4000-4999 MMR (Placement: 4500)
Silver 2: 5000-5999 MMR
Gold 1: 6000-6999 MMR
Gold 2: 7000-7999 MMR
Platinum 1: 8000-8999 MMR
Platinum 2: 9000-9999 MMR
Sapphire 1: 10000-10999 MMR
Sapphire 2: 11000-11999 MMR
Ruby 1: 12000-12999 MMR
Ruby 2: 13000-13999 MMR
Diamond 1: 14000-14999 MMR
Diamond 2: 15000-15999 MMR
Master: 16000-16999 MMR
Grandmaster: 17000+ MMR
Depending on your rank, you will only be eligible to compete in some of the following tiers:
Tier G: Iron 1 + Iron 2 + Placement
Tier FG: Iron 2 + Bronze 1
Tier F: Bronze 1 + Bronze 2
Tier EF: Bronze 2 + Silver 1
Tier E: Silver 1 + Silver 2
Tier DE: Silver 2 + Gold 1
Tier D: Gold 1 + Gold 2
Tier CD: Gold 2 + Platinum 1
Tier C: Platinum 1 + Platinum 2
Tier BC: Platinum 2 + Sapphire 1
Tier B: Sapphire 1 + Sapphire 2
Tier AB: Sapphire 2 + Ruby 1
Tier A: Ruby 1+
Tier S: Ruby 2+
Tier X: Diamond 1+
If you're just getting started, you will be placed in either Iron or Bronze. You'll typically see the seasoned veterans in Sapphire or above.

No, if only that was the case. This game is about avoiding luck based situations as much as possible, so you can rely on your skill to win. JPG is good at driving, but the last 10 videos have been only raging about shit that is (of course) sometimes just unlucky but mostly about shit that he should've seen coming and avoided in the first place
@@ossipdehaan837Well said. I find that the races where I get mario karted hardest are the ones where I mess something up at the start. Maybe missing a mini turbo at the start, or bumping into a wall, or messing up the startup boost. Those mistakes seem miniscule, but they send you straight into the blender.

I think JPG would be better off if he didn’t talk during gameplay and then did a voice over. It’s the same video every time recently. Him losing, blaming luck, losing more, blaming luck.

people have some crazy takes here but here's my take: there's a reason why some players are 14k while others are 11k despite being close in skill level, and it's because of small things like better awareness of items around you and better predictions. jpg is one of the best drivers but sometimes he calls wrongly, if you watch gyrodos or l1am their plays are much more accurate and generally they avoid choking a lot better.

after the race of 20:54 (ribbon road) if it was me i would have deleted the game and never come back to it
well i think its because in lower ranks, people are way more agressive with their items. example: if they see sb in the back with a red shell, the dont protect but go to the next spot, red shell them, then the red shell in the back can go for them again

lol i was wondering also why he did that. i know JPG is really experienced at this game though so i figured he had a good reason for it.
Since it was excitebike he was probably thinking he could cut into second or first on the final lap with the shroom he had in reserve. The red shell he was just trailing to protect himself from fourth and the shroom from a potential boo. Just my guess though, can't read his mind obviously lol

I really don't understand why you don't like Ribbon Road.
It is not an easy track, you need to have a lot of skill to drive faster than the other players and it has a lot of shortcuts that makes easier to come back to the pack or win the race.
Can someone explain? Or does he has a video explaining why?
I think he doesnt like it because of the wobbly road at the end, where you have to drive off the track into the shortcut with 2 items. Generally also the track is pretty narrow, which means you might get hit quite often by green, boomerangs or random stuff.
Though I also really like ribbon road. Just requires a lot of skill

You’re relying on luck based scenarios which is why I find you getting either a high spot or a low one, but I’ll say you have amazing driving and are a quick thinker. Have a good day man!

lower tier has a lot of mashing just gotta bag or run harder either way your chance of winning is a lot higher than pack
By tier A standard it does requires decision-making, quick-thinking and evasion skills more than anything. To claim one would immediately dominated based on the driving techs and time trial track records sounds like an ego issue. And respectfully, failing the DK Summit doubles on both events doesn't help a lot.
As a gold 2 player i can confirm that playing in platinum and gold only depends on getting into 1st on first lap

Gang, this is a W: This is the first video I've been able to recite the intro word for word.
It's hard to adapt to on the fly in one event, but if you ever find yourself among lower tiers again, just play aggro. You are showing too much respect to bots that have no grasp of what being shown respect is, because they are too busy memorizing the flavors of every crayon in a box of crayola's. You can't afford to play it safe and rely on being a better driver in lobbies this aggresive, because they will never give you an inch the way higher tier players will.
These are players who probably practiced all the NISC cuts and gap jumps, grind worldwides, and called it a day. You can tell they don't put in the time to actually improve their lines on all courses and compensate by spamming, which is why a year from now most of them will probably be around the same tier.
You shouldn't feel embarrassed for getting into a lobby with a different metagame after being used to the lobbies you are usually in. Although you really should have swapped to Daisy/Teddy early on, dropping your speed stat in a lobby like this a big mistake, especially when the MTs are the same.
Donut Plains 3 and DK Summit races were rough, but try not to get flustered as one mistake was in a blooper and one was in a star, and it is simply not practical to know every line on every track under the conditions of being inked or having the star boost, that could have happened to anyone. Better luck next time! Keep on Giviner!

If there was a more consistent streamer at a higher level, jpg would lose a lot of viewers. There just isn’t alot of streamers that do it as consistently as he does
