I'd recommend staying away from 1.0s and just get 2.0 direct from steam. I've owned 8 of each and have had 5 1.0s fail on me. The 2.0s from steam are typically the cheapest and have the best customer support.
I agree, steam has very good customer service, but if You're trying to get cheap lighthouse setup, You can get 1.0 for 20-50$, or for example there was full OG HTC Vive headset, 2x controller, 2x base station 1.0 directly from HTC for just 150$, in this situation that's just an amazing deal, even just for base stations. I know ppl who's 1.0 broke, but I know same amount of ppl who's 2.0 broke, so that's not a rule, base stations are in general very fragile.
