    New writer here...this video answers so many of my questions about weaving in the various storylines. Excellent!

    Thanks. I’ve just finished three Speculative fiction novels and I have a cozy mystery cooking in both brain calls. It will take a grinding change of gears to make the jump but I can now see how I will go about outlining my 4th novel. This genuinely helped. Gratitude.

    Brilliant. I have just stumbled across Plottr. Your template digitises the post it notes on my office wall and is a lot easier to carry around. I can reverse enigneer my stories to see what is missing for a rewrite. Thank you.

    Oh wow - This is such a great adaptation of the hero's journey! Thank you so much for this!
    What I was wondering / missing a little bit, is some percentage marks for the beats (or some indication/averages of word counts).
    Or can I basically take the hero's journey's marks/estimations as a guideline?
    Thanks a lot!

      I have personally always found the estimated word counts to be poor advice because stories have a unique length and pace to them. It’s unfair to expect a Sherlock Holmes story to be the same as a Christopher Reich novel, but they are both dense mysteries.

      The template is now included in the program and there are percentage marks in it, so you can figure out the number of words based on your projected word count.

    How would you outline a paranormal mystery? Would the paranormal/magical elements simply be another line?

    • @animegamernerdo
      @animegamernerdo Год назад +2

      Ask yourself this. Are the paranormal elements part of the mystery itself? Or is it more part of the world you've created? For the former, I'd stick it together with the mystery line. For the latter, create a separate one where you delve into the paranormal part of your story. Could be both.

    @Plottr Hi Troy, I thought for sure I saw a video on the 12 step mystery format but can't find it anywhere. Was I drunk or am I looking in all the wrong places?

      Sorry, it's working fine for us -- can you try it from a different browser? You might have some setting enabled that is interfering with the download.
