I know that this video is a little old but thanks for taking time to make it. I am wanting g to start a Tropheus tank. #1 I have a few questions why so many filters? #2 What parameters is your water? #3 What is the max fish would you put into a 100gal? #4 What kinda rock are you using and where to buy? Thanks for your time
Thanks for getting back to me Jay, been watching your content from before I got cichilds (7 ish yrs )! I wanted to add a school to my malawi tank .. bit of a risk I guess. Also need to find a good dealer in ontario Canada.
Nice! Have a couple of tropheus tanks myself (Tropheus moorii "Ndole Red" and "Moliro Red"). They are fun to watch, but my older colony has taken to hiding, so am considering Cyprichromis as dither fish. Struggling to find non-jumbo variants though. I notice your tank is pretty tall, and the end-on shots make it look like its not hugely deep, front-to-back. What are the dimensions (I run 5x2x2s myself)?
Hi Jay, Nice to see others having the same fish as i have. I do think thatnin time you have to move them to a biggen tank though, they become quit big. Much biggen than Ikola for instanse and they can be verry aggressive as well. @ Paul Laurence, if i may advise you about the ditter fish for your tank than don’t do the cyprochromis. I have them with my tropheus but they like a somewhat calmer tankmate. Ik regret having them with my tropheus.
I think you had a fish behind the background unless it was reflection messing with me. I mean they are just so dang inquisitive so they will find the smallest gap they can fit into. Wish I could have a tank like this
I happen to run that exact combination of sand! Very cool tank man. That's going to look great covered in algae with the troops feeding. Thanks for the vid! 👊😎
James Etheridge based on trial so far I do believe with a canister you can achieve clearer water but over all a sump will best the canister due to the versatility
nashdaking why not lol. More bio for me. The tank wasn't plumbed so I didn't go sump not a fan of the boxes. I had the sun sun laying around so I added it behind and gave the front a solid bio and polish amount.
Jay, the track was hot and so are the fish!! are you a first time troph keeper? how do you prevent hole in the head? I haven't been able to keep my boops thriving because they all contracted it somehow and are the first fish to go...my petros are inhabited the same tank and have no symptoms. anyway, awesome tank keep that beautiful footage rolling!

Ron Villa thanks brah
hey do you still think canister filters have "far superior water clarity" then a sump with sump socks?
James Etheridge based on trial so far I do believe with a canister you can achieve clearer water but over all a sump will best the canister due to the versatility

Why so much filtration? 2-fx 6s? Plus a sun sun? Wow!!! Cool looking little guys and the Wilson's ridge is gorgeous too

Over filtration is great. Plus, you can always remove a filter to seed another thank in the future.
