Hi kaity, lovely setup. So you feed your fish once a night i got that part, just didn't catch what and how much to meet the requirements of semi carnivorous and herbivore fish mixed together. Literally getting a tank built and you've made a rule breaking set up work well.
It would be worth it to throw in some Neothauma tanganyicense snail shells, which are about 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter about 6 per fish just to see if they will host one to breed and even live in I’d definitely love to see you give that a shot also are they the ones that have been eating the fry?! Your Tanganyika cichlids are stunning; as you said, they have great personality, and that's what I love about them. They're definitely in my budget. I have some julidochromis living in my Mbuna tank with not many issues, and I'll definitely try a 100% Tanganyika tank in the future cause It's really tentative. Thanks for the video, you're doing great. Greetings from Lima, Peru🇵🇪✌️🙌!!
If your Tropheus behave like your Bemba you might changetheir food. Esp when all behave like him (could be that this spec fish has issues). Tropheus could have very strong issues with protein cause their intestine is very long cause in Nature thei are plant eaters. I had to made this experiance the hard way ( a Groupe of 15 RIP). I changed food to frosen Artenia or antarctic Shrims. Esp your leleupi will love then too and get nice colours. To help theTropheus try frosen spinach pure. Here in Germany you find some i little portions, easy to handel, just snip it in. And yes the combination is great i mysekf had it for over 20 years, You wouldnr bread them so your tetracefalus will be no Problem. You may seperate them if you wand little Tropheus or if they are breadind. Hope you may have so much fun as i had. Tanganica Cichlids are the most interessting Fish by behavier in my oppinion. After seening the Attenuates that i never hold (cause at that time they were not avaliable for a reason) be awere the are extreme predators and will not only reduce the youngs. And for that they need high protein witch is the opposite of the tropheus. i would seperate them together with the compressicaps who also like fresh fish-
Thank you!! Would you mind sharing what the Bemba was doing that made you think he had a food related problem? I noticed it was doing some shimmers but I thought it was a territorial thing
@@Kaityscichlids He clump the fins and shake while standing on a point. you can see it when you introduce him and every time i saw him in vid. Your intention isn`t breading so a compromise in feeding might be not so importend. i ll do it too in first time. But after some times i change to frosen food. Seperate my Bembas in too Groups and seperate them in two 600 ltr tanks. Than seperate the young males and change them to avoid inzess. Worked very well. Great memories cause i also hold Bembas. Combined with Eretmodus cyanosticus, tanganica clowns, with round and smooth stones, cause of algies. For all the others i use "Lochgestein" (perforated stone?) all lambrologus (neolambrologus) and julidochromis love them, Tropheus might get stuck and die (yes speaking of experiance). I would remove the lava stones. too sharp for algieeaters too small for whole loves bad circulation only catchin waste. But that s your tank. I also started with industrial food, easy to handel but switch to frosen after a while. The fish thanks it with beeing healsy and in good shape breading every 3 moth. But at that time i had a room and 40 more Tanks so i could seperate the species or combined them, seperate in need of food. But if you choose frosen shrimps or artemia (don t know if it s avaliable down under) all of them will be fine. And breaking the ice is the difficule part just throw it in it will melt while drifting around and the food will reach the weaker fish too. Importend when the fish get greater and more torial.
Shimmying in Tropheus can be indicative of a parasitic disease, usually gill flukes. That fish had white patches around it's mouth, which IME means that the fish is sub-par and will probably continue to be. Sometimes, this can be down to a water quality issue, but I gather you keep your water quality very high. Obviously, the fish came in with its problem. In a heavily stocked tank, where the fishes might feel stressed, flukes and other ectoparasites can spread quickly. With regards to diet, Tropheus are algivores in nature and spend a lot of time scraping algae, primarily the sort of aufwuchs that grows that grows in the lake. Along with this, they will also take in small crustaceans that live in the strands. So a diet rich in protein is not suitable for them and will cause them to have digestive problems.
@@majorbruster5916 thank you for the info! It's been a few weeks since the video and he's all good. It was such a small snippet included in this video which wasn't really indicative of that tropheus' usual behaviour, so I think it was a little misleading how it looked in this vid

That was a really beautiful review, Kaity. Your video is spectacular. I really love the underwater video. I'm guessing that was a GoPro on a tripod inside the tank? I need to go find your video on GH and KH. I still don't fully understand that. I should from school, but that's been a while. 🙂 Keep 'em coming, Kaity. And have a fantastic day! ~Ron
@@Kaityscichlids Thanks, Kaity. I think I need to take a look at that. It could be a really fun addition to what I'm doing too. Have a fantastic weekend!
Well, your Tropheus Bemba suffers from an incorrect diet, which is the result of keeping it with other carnivorous fish. He has a clogged intestine, that's why he "sways".
His diet is the same as all of the other tropheus in there, which is a mix of low protein pellet, spirulina flake and lots of algae. Sometimes they will get some brine shrimp but there's nothing inherently wrong with the diet they are being fed
@@Kaityscichlids I understand what you want to say, however I am talking about visible effects, Tropheus Bemba in your video is not doing well, it is perfectly visible to people who have knowledge about this species. This type of fish is not only adversely affected by an improper diet, but also by a very good diet, but by food served in the wrong way. The fish fold their tails and begin to sway, this is a very big warning signal and time to react... it may also be a sign of poor physicochemical water conditions, but in this case more fish show symptoms at once.
@@wkunique it was just you said the reason was they were suffering from an incorrect diet in your comment which I was responding too for you/others reading 😊 Your fish are beautiful btw, I love the hardscapes you have set up
AHHH! My ears are bleeding! Some much Latin! No, I kid. I'm a nerd. I like hearing the scientific names of things. Plus these days it actually seems to help sometimes. It seems that a lot of fish have so many different common names anymore that people call them, if you're looking for them or trying to figure out what anything is everyone calls them something different and it's confusing. So sometimes it seems it's easier to go by the scientific names. Thanks for the video. You have a nice variety of different types of videos. More in depth ones like this one, and more general ones. On a side note that cichlids have no control over, RUclips is stupid. I didn't get a notification for this video until 8 hours after you released it. And that seems to always be the case. I'm not sure my ego can handle watching it and commenting on it so much later than other people. 😁
Ohhhh no!! RUclips has to step up their game 🤣 Funnily enough it was so much easier saying the Latin names for these ones because everyone seems to use them for Tanganyikan cichlids. Unlike the Malawi cichlids where everything is known by its nickname normally 🤣

Fantastic, so beautiful, thanks for letting me watch🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪
Thank you!! 😊🙏
I once had a Malawi and he wouldn't allow anyone else in the tank 😢
That's ALOT of cichlid species Kaity!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
It sure is 😁😁
Your Tanganyika cichlids are stunning; as you said, they have great personality, and that's what I love about them.
Thank you so much!! And you totally should 😄 Two tanks is always better than one 😁
Love your fish they are absolutely beautiful 🐠🐟watching from🇦🇺
Thank you 😊🙏🙏
african cichlid was so colorful and beautiful..soon Ms.Kaity i will buy some cichlid for my 75 gal.❤
They are the best 😊🐟💗
I love your tank. Thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you so much 😊🙏🏼
As much as i love your malawi tank i think the Tanganyikan is every bit as stunning
Thank you 😊🙏🙏
Kaity, the trophies are my favorite, I switched to lake Tanganyika from lake Malawi, I am getting a 90 gallon water Box...Thank you for all the information and lovely videos 🥇💎💎💎🙏
They are so cute, I love them!! That's awesome, I hope you enjoy it :D They are great tanks. I'm glad you found the video helpful :)
Great tank! Very interesting. Do you have Gnathochromis permaxillaris in AU? It is like a geophagus of lake tanganyika, I never see it in the US.
I just had a look at it, and I don't believe so! They look awesome though :O
It's a very bad mix. Please get to know the fish first and then put them in the tank. Don't post misleading videos to people.
They are all doing great
That was a really beautiful review, Kaity. ~Ron
Thank you Ron 😊🙏 Yes, that's right, I put the GoPro 10 on a tripod in the tank! It takes really nice footage, I don't use it enough
@@wkunique it was just you said the reason was they were suffering from an incorrect diet in your comment which I was responding too for you/others reading 😊 Your fish are beautiful btw, I love the hardscapes you have set up
Keeping males only is not only sadistic but they won't flare up their colors as much as when there are females present.
I'm curious to know what you believe is sadistic about it?
Where did you get your tropheus
From MAD Aquariums in Brisbane!
Your video made me get a waterbox 7225.
;)
Woohoooo, that's awesome!! 🐟🎉🎉
@@Kaityscichlids On another side unrelated note, you need more plants. 🤪
You don’t have to pick a favorite out of your tanks but I will lol The Tanganyikan tank is one of the best tanks I’ve seen 🤩‼️ both tanks top notch 🙌‼️ I really love how they are so different but seem to fit the same vibe 🐟🪨🐠🪨
Hahaha, that is awesome!! I definitely can't pick a favourite 🤣 But I am very happy with how the Tanganyikan tank has been coming along 😁🐟💗 Thank you Joey!
@@Kaityscichlids you’re welcome ‼️
Which sand is best suitable for these fish?
I use Unicorn pool filter sand for mine because it's cheap. But aragonite sand is also good for them as it raises the pH 😊
Very beautiful cichlids 🔥🔥🔥
