Good morning to everyone except whoever made this thumbnail

It's scary!
I like it, keep it up
watching ryan try to remember the seven husbands of evelyn hugo was maybe the most painful thing i've seen all week
Came to the comment section to see if anyone else had wrote this yet 😂 all bookworms were definitely giving Ryan the *bombastic side eye*
i'm in awe of how close they got to it while also being nowhere close to the right book
Came looking for this comment or I was gonna say it myself
Right?! 😭😭
Thank you! I was screaming ahaha
Shane’s topic being pencils. Shane being a wooden pencil guy. Shane taking piano lessons. Shane’s pencil research. The box, big bic jokes. The fact he wants to eat an eraser. His headband. Dear God I love him…. I love him.
I agree with Ryan learning Andrew is apparently a big gamer has totally shifted my view on him. I thought he reads classics by candle light with a cat on his lap every night wearing a sleeping cap and gown.
Looool
😂😂😂😂😂
Shane is officially 80 years old and it is fantastic.
Explains why he has "many many children" 😂😂😂
All them kids 😂😂😂😂
I enjoy when Shane goes to get his pen and Steven, so casually, says, "Oh, I didn't know Shane was a pen sicko." No judgment involved...just a comment of revelation.
Over here with nine thousand pens myself 😂😂😂😂
them trying to name The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was hilarious to me
😂😂 why am I shouting the title to my phone(“It’s EVELYN HUGO!!!”), like they gonna hear me!!!
I was SCREAMING! 😂
The name they actually said had me laughing in the middle of the shop I was in. Infuriating but funny
Was looking for this comment 😂
I really love how much Ryan supports other people's passions. Especially in his friendship with Shane - as much as their on-screen banter is based on good-natured digs at each other's idiosyncrasies, Ryan is so supportive of Shane's hobbies and interests. Love that he was the one telling Shane to go get his pens so he could talk about them.
Also, I'm 1000% down for the return of malls. I miss wandering aimlessly through the mall, grabbing a bite to eat, chatting with friends, running my errands. You can be as visible or invisible as you want in a mall; it's either a place to be social or to blend into the crowd and just enjoy the ambience. And nothing beats holiday shopping at the mall, if you're into that kind of thing. Getting all your gifts in one day-long trip, holiday music and decorations everywhere, everyone dressed up in their holiday colors and big winter coats, ice skating rinks open for business (if you've got one, as many malls do). Love a good mall.
nice wholesome
i love small shops, supporting local businesses especially while on vaca, like it's not local to me but still local to where i am atm, but yea it's a shame malls are dying as people still need to grab a bite, socialize, enjoy the holiday decor etc
@@oooh19 Oh, for sure, absolutely would not recommend malls to the detriment of supporting small businesses. To be honest I think it should be easier for small businesses to set up shop IN malls. Malls could absolutely be great if they prioritized local over big box. The big box stores would certainly still be part of it, but would be cool to see mom-and-pop shops also.
Ryan is the male version of me, i miss going to the mall with my best friend as a teenager....
I loved malls growing up but now I'm too anxious to set foot in one. Those outlet malls aren't bad but it's not the full effect of what I loved about said malls.
The book Ryan was trying to think of is "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo." And I'm officially casting my vote for a Watcher book club of sorts.
That would be awesome! I’m in!!!
+1
Im here for that i love to read
I hope they get more creators and they do this
This was somehow the most chaotically wholesome episode yet. They should really rename these "Hyperfixation Watcher," though. It's a good thing I also like listening to people talk about things they're passionate about.
Also, I think the book Ryan is referring to is The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
I’m so glad they brought up Spooky Small Talk. I felt so bad for Ryan when that show didn’t get the views needed to keep it going!
I love that show!
that episode of spooky smalltalk is my favourite video on this platform, and that moment specifically is so impossibly funny, in part of course because of the jumpscare, but also because of the dialogue (following is paraphrased)
ryan: do you ever feel like, scared or anxious?
shane: yeah well you know-
*jump scare*
shane, without even blinking: -sometimes, but not often
😭😭😭😭
i guess watcher is just a company devoted to quaint hyperfixations (which is funny because it’s now my favorite hyperfixation like a serpent eating tail and etc etc)
I'm a little curious about Matt's search history to research for this new segment. "What are kids doing?" "Kid slang." "What are kids talking about 2024?" My boy is on a watchlist for sure.
I loved the pen talk. Shane always seems to bring up a subject that all us weirdos wanna talk about, yet we know it’s weird to other people.
Maybe your piano teacher should bring his own darn pencils
the thumbnail is SCARING me 😭
Why would they do that to us 😟
Me too...and ppl wonder why i dont sleep
Thank you for the flash warning!!! As a person who has seizures triggered by flashing, it makes me so mad when videos just put a warning at the beginning of a vid or something making me have to guess where in the vid it is, or when the warning is just in the description. Thank you!
Right? It was awesome that he came back to say "OK, it's over now" too. You never get that.
Steven makes every episode 200% better xD
Steven "I'm not that good because I have a job taking care of this company while you guys just travel and hunt ghosts" LOL
i've been loving reading bipoc-written fantasy/sci-fi because it's a great way to connect to mythology, legends, and cultures. if you guys or anyone else are interested: daughter of the moon goddess by sue lynn tan, the girl who fell beneath the sea by axie oh, the fifth season by nk jemisin, six crimson cranes by elizabeth lim, black sun by rebecca roanhorse, amari and the night brothers by bb alston, and jade city by fonda lee (i think the boys will especially enjoy this one) are notable bangers.
Thanks for the recs!!
Liked for mentioning Jade City, love that whole series
I could listen to Shane talk about pens for hours
Andrew on Puppet History when
Big thanks to our editor of the episode, Matt, for the warning of when the flashing images would start and stop.
Seconded! That was very well done.
LOVE LIBRARIES!!! Currently have 3 physical books checked out and an ebook and audiobook on the library app. ALSO!!! Depending on your area, libraries have free national park passes and portable hot spots! They’re such good resources and as a Gen Z who’s post-college and working, I’m so happy to go back to using the library again!
Shane’s spooky small talk episode was genuinely incredible
As an elementary school teacher, we love Ticonderoga! They sharpen so easily, erase nicely, and they make the jumbo ones for the littles. I’m interested to see how those other brands do tbh!
The entire captions when they are talking about pencils should be WHEEEEEEEEEEZE
Along with good pens and pencils...i love a good notebook.
FACTS! I try to journal every day so I’m always picking up new journals, really sets me up to feel good!
can i just say that matt has such a nice and calming voice? i would listen to HIM do ASMR
i felt so warm when they praised gen z like thank u pookies we only get dragged nowadays
Oh man, my friends and I love Gen Z! Ya'll know so much more about social issues than I did at your age. I worry about your stress levels, tho.
We come to this place to laugh at immature, middle school big BIC energy and box jokes. Never disappointed.😂
Ryan!! Please talk about board games!! Which is your favorite? Do you have a favorite type?
Top 5 beatdown!!
Inscryption yeaaaaahhh!!! Shane is a man of taste. Also I'm enjoying hearing more and more of Matt each episode!
Love the pencil/pens/supplies topic! I'm also a pen sicko 😊. My goodness what fun!
idk why steven saying he doesn't like asmr (where sounds give you a pleasant sensory response) and then immediately saying he likes "satisfying sounds" is so hilarious to me 🤣🤣
they don't know what asmr means i swear lmao
i think a lot of people don't know what asmr is. i think they think all asmr is when the person on screen roleplays as a girlfriend or something and whispers really close into the mic
I am also a pen sicko, but for brush pens. My favorite is the Kuretake brush pen no.22 and their ai Liner☺
Shane that is NOT what culture vulture means 😂❤
Playing video games with your partner/spouse has to be the best thing ever.
not me literally getting butterflies every time shane mentions woodfield (that’s the mall that’s near me too)
I also can’t imagine Andrew doing anything at home besides reading luxury or vintage cookbooks, smoking his own meats, and puffing on an old timey pipe or rare cigar
Thank you Ryan for bringing up the face distorting in the mirror thing. I have that "disorder" or whatever and it was really bad when I was little. You do not have to wait 10 minutes it took me 3-5, low lighting helps, you see some scary shit. I tried explaining it to people before and they just looked at me like I'm nuts.
Some kids locked me in their bathroom with the lights out when I was like 6 or so, and I swear to heck I saw Bloody Mary and thought I was gonna die. What a weird cultural phenomenon. I remember sitting on the floor banging on the door to be let out, because obviously if I stood up Mary would see me and get me, right?
@@Kristenhas3cats Wow, that's nuts. I grew up with Bloody Mary and was terrified of her. Always thought I heard her coming up the stairs to get me. Never saw her in the mirror though. Two girls at a summer camp lied to me about being haunted by her and my dad had to debunk Bloody Mary by doing the spin around say her name ritual. They strung me along with all sorts of shenanigans. Kids are cruel.
Thank you so much for the flashing light warning! It’s deeply appreciated.
My husband bought me some Nataraj bold dark pencils in the red and black box, and I love them! They sharpen easily, have dark lead and aren’t prone to breaking. I use a pink pearl eraser as they don’t come with erasers.
Would love to see some board game night videos. What board games do you play Ryan?
As an old lady who still plays games, I quite enjoyed the video game talk. It’s nice to know I’m not the only older person who enjoys playing games (I don’t count mobile games).
I would like to know more about Shane learning piano. I’m also an adult who started learning piano and it’s quite interesting as most learners are children.
I love the new season of True Detective and how they threw in a way to help Natives at the end of the episodes. How it talks about Inuit culture and their issues
Podcast is Fantastic as well!
Ooh, how awesome! I love art that raises social & cultural issues, but they so often leave people hanging with all these emotions and momentum. Soo good they have that info!
never has the dynamic between these men been clearer than in this moment
shane: do you want me to go get some of my pens?
steven: no....
ryan: yeah go get some of your pens to show! he's got some really good pens
Almost zoned out on the video game talk (no offence, just not a gamer) but you reeled me back in with the stationary talk and that is why this is the best podcast ever ❤
great job on a terrifying thumbnail
Another great vid ^.^ !! I think it would be so fun to watch Ryan and Shane try out some (non-scary) online games/MMOs! Creating your characters and watching you figure things out would be funny I'm sure. My favourite MMO is Guild Wars 2. I would highly recommend to all!
I’m not a pen sicko but I am very particular about my pens. I like them juicy, but not TOO juicy where it’s hard to write precisely. I also need to like how it feels when I’m writing, in terms of how it feels in my hand and how the tip glides over the paper. My current favs are Uniball Signo 1.0mm pens
Ready Player one the book is great for 80s kids. Like I was born in the early 1980s and I lived and celebrated so many nostalgic songs, movies, games, and tv shows referenced.
shane is seriously too precious, we do not deserve him. the way he even talks about pens with sincerity... "sometimes it's just the color... wait, let me go get one of my favorite pens. I'll be right back." like, who is this adorable five year old and how did he get so tall.
okay this is REALLY awakening the love i had for pens in a major way...i loved fountain pens but being left handed quickly gave up because everything smudges :(
Ever since i discovered the Frixion Erasable fine tip pens. I haven't gone back to pencils. Love how there's no mess of an eraser, erasing is very good with there being no marks left behind, and they write really well.
Downside (which i learned the hard way) is don't expose the paper with writing on it from the pen to over 120 degrees of heat. Since the friction from eraser causes it to be hot enough to erase i didn't think about the heat in general one day when getting signatures at work and went to pass the paper under a heat lamp area in the kitchen so the employees could sign and all of the signatures just vanished and i had a wtf meltdown mostly of the fact i had just gotten twenty signatures already and had to do it over again. 😂
Heat and sun i think
I love how diverse this cast is
East of Eden was already turned into a movie in 1955 Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean. I love reading when I get the chance and find a series I can read two to four books in a week or less. But I haven't been able to do much lately with my youngest baby who is now one.
Ryan needs to get into Disney Dreamlight Valley. Talk about a game made for him
I love this Pod so much. You guys are my vibe
These boys could stream anything at all and we would watch. Would love to talk to the community more! (I also understand not wanting to monetize joyful activities tho)
I never thought I'd be so interested in someone talking about pencils
i do love that you guys are kinda playing NPRs “wait wait don’t tell me”
Oh, you're right! Perfect.
I look forward to this chaotic chat every week❤
I still like going to the store, and I loved the malls as a teen. But now, as a millennial adult, malls give me anxiety.
But I Do Love The Library!!
the cuteness of shane wearing a lil headband is making me weep
I love the pen/ pencil talk!!!! I have a huge collection of both and I can listen to this all day!
I would love to watch videos on Shane’s favorite products! Stationary, Pens, notebooks, we got soaps/gifts earlier in the year.
Dixon-Ticonderoga was always my favorite wooden pencil brand for writing and it was always a bonus having the black ones (they’re the same as the yellow I just liked that the paint was black )
Man that spooky small talk show was fun!
That thumbnail is pure nightmare fuel
Shane, good choice on East of Eden! I've read almost all of Steinbeck, and I think it's his best. That and Pastures of Heaven.
always down for digs at ready player one lol
LOVE the Kaweco Sport shoutout from Shane. it's the GOAT
Blood on the Clocktower is such a great game! I have a copy and don't get to play often, but when I do it's a grand time.
Survival Mode S3 confirmed, lol.
Yes! Love any mention of Inscription. One of the coolest games I've played.
Which independent study said that 19-25yr olds are buying homes at higher rates? 😭in THIS economy???
I have a brass Kaweco sport too, though mine is a ballpoint model! I use Pentel Energel rollerball ink refills for mine. I love that pen so much. It writes so smoothly, the weight is wonderful, and it looks stylish without being overstated. Highly recommend!
Ryan what other kinds of tabletop games do you play and enjoy? Would love a watcher stream of Betrayal at House on the Hill!
I love that game so much
Play Baldurs Gate 3! When you stumble across the barn... one of the best cut scene surprises in video game history.
We LOVE Blood on the Clocktower! Such an underrated game, love to see it mentioned!
Steven just absolutely not believing that wooden pencils are still in practical use😂
looooove the little game corner sm
As someone who works in the rubber industry. Your eraser is getting hard/has a hard coating most likely due to wax coming to the surface causing the “bloom” and hard surface. It usually happens after a long period of time 6 months+. Depending on the material used it could take longer to bloom and some not at all.
I’m supposed to be working, but here I am (yet again) switching from Spotify to RUclips to check out Shane’s favorite pens
Thanks Steven for Cincy shoutout with the Kenwood Towne Centre!!
Losing one’s pencil case is the worst. I always go into an autistic rage when I lose it. Recently I went to Egypt and I LOST IT SOMEWHERE IN EGYPT
Loved the, "big bic energy" joke. I literally LOLed.
I didn't know about it then, but the strange face illusion happened to me while I was having a mental breakdown in the bathroom of a 150 year old building in the evening light, I was scared out of my mind
RDR2 isn't about skill based competitiveness or chores (even tho there is a chore mechanic lol), its more an interactive movie / story that you have a say in. A full Narrative, And its amazing!
41:26 Love how Shane talks about his pen like Patrick Bateman talks about his business card.
I didn’t realize Shane had a headband on until halfway through the episode. It just feels right.
i love how their fits kinda match the furniture/room decor
Ryan literally just discribed a rat then proceeded to say he isn’t a rat. Lol
I accidentally hallucinate a lot when dissociating and looking in the mirror. My face will change shape and sometimes I look like a different person, but I don’t need low light but any light
it also only takes a minute or less lmao
54:45 here's how long I've watched your videos, I knew EXACTLY what Ryan was up to lol
Oh, I absolutely love that we got to hear more about what Steven plays and of course, more about Shane liking Fortnite! I’ve never played Valorant, but if Steven Lim plays it, I’m sure it’s good! Didn’t expect to hear that Andrew plays Apex, but it’s a pleasant surprise. I would adore an episode of Survival Mode with Ryan and Shane playing Fortnite! And Shane’s Victory Royale was just as stunning as he said, I also recently got one where I felt the same. I really just love hearing how much he loves the game (like I do), so much so that it sneaks its way into almost every episode of this podcast. I’ll always look forward to hearing him talk about it (and the podcast as a whole)! Loved this episode, guys, can’t wait for the next one!!
That was pretty cool...with the circles and crosshairs..
whoever's voice that was narrating the visual queue: Dude. smooth 👌
that pen asmr is pretty freaking good. I want one now.
