Great demo! It addresses the problem we have with ColorVu cameras in very dark areas. Sometimes I don't want to attract attention to the camera with a white light. I couldn't watch a lot of the review because of the shakycam footage though. A modern smartphone with video stabilisation would have been a lot more stable.
I'm really liking these new Hikvision ColurVue turrets. I've slotted them in as our default camera for all installations going forward. I do find that they need to run in "Back Light" mode under image settings with WDR on or HLC on to help mitigate the bright LED lights in nighttime view. They run exceptionally well at night - 10/10 Hikvision!
Hi. Your testing at 36:55 to 37:00 indicates 5 seconds of Threshold time and not 2 seconds that you set at 32:05 and your body is at 50% inside the region. I also have the same delay for all smart events on ColorVUs Hybrid and not Hybrid
Not available yet but the models are listed on the Hikvision global website so may arrive in the not too distant future... For a turret it would be DS-2CD2347G2H-LISU/SL (for 4MP) or DS-2387G2H-LISU/SL (for 8MP/4K)
Any recommendations to stop ghosting? Other then high exposure settings I get ghosting of a day time with plenty of light.. Mostly when someone walks past etc.
@@johnwilliamson1645 Thanks, I figured that out only seems to be a issue with my colourvu cameras. It's a pain you lose detail in bright areas when disabling WDR

You could actually do a scheduled switch using the Image Parameter Switch menu. Set the Custom1 Profile to use the white light illuminator profile and Custom2 to use the infrared profile, then schedule the camera to use Custom1 at all times except when you want the IR to be active instead.
You have additional (infrared) light from other cameras which makes the IR image seem better than it would typically be, and you don't set the same intensity of white light on the two cameras which makes the non-Hybrid image seem better. Not the best "comparison" IMO.

@@roger4057worse, a 1/1.8 sensor on a 4mp is fine but you'd want a 1/1.2 sensor if you're interested in an 8mp camera. There are some helpful charts online if you look up "MP/sensor size ratio for CCTV"
Nice video. You can really see the original colorvu and it's larger 1/1.2 lens pulls a better picture in the low light situation with a lot less noise. Of course the IR image is a lot more usable for the hybrid camera. It's too bad they went with a smaller 1/1.8" sensor with the hybrid. Given the whole package, I think the Hybrid camera is still the way to go.
I was just about to comment this, I was going to jump straight into buying these new hybrid Colorvu turrets for my new setup after months of research but now I'm conflicted. I really like the new hybrid light feature but the smaller sensor size does put me off, I noticed the 4mp hybrid model uses 1/1.2 which meets the MP/sensor size ratio but I was after an 8mp turret for my setup. Hopefully they release a 1/1.2 8mp hybrid turret soon.
So do you buy the hybrid or the normal? And for a good sensor on a 8mp camera i think we need to wait longer, because dahua have also the same problem.
@@crazytraveler2198 dahua do have a 1/1.2" 8mp full colour turret that performs great (IPC-HDW5849) but they don't have a hybrid light feature like the hikvision models.
So, the take-away from this is, if you don't mind the white lights, the original ColorVu is the better camera. Also, in a real-world situation, an intruder would likely be in and out of the viewing area before the light switched from IR to white and adjusted it's intensity enough to have a usable image. I would like to see this comparison in a real-world setting with the person moving through the area, rather than walking into the box and standing there looking at the camera.
I have been using the ColorVu cameras for quite some time now and the colored night vision is great, especially in low light. And all this without turning on the LED lighting present. But I don't understand why you would then add IR (black and white image) to a camera, which can display colored image. Then as far as I'm concerned, they could have spent more time on the better types of detection. Like the web support, which is very mediocre.
@@BrushyBill_HR Then surely don't buy the white light cam in urban areas. This still doesn't answer vuurvreter's question, "why you would then add IR (black and white image) to a camera, which can display colored image?"
@@s.wilson5675 versatility... Color mode is great for details when there is an event but basically useless when nothing is going on.. some people do not want light on all the time for whatever reason.
Colorvue is a great technology but in really low light the colour gets worse and worse until the image is black and white. At this stage the black and white image is poorer than it would be with IR, so IR is fitted to keep the quality higher in very low light scenarios. I'll not engage with you on the use of the white LEDs to compensate this - others have already stated the location may mean they are intrusive to neighbours, perhaps an owner doesn't want an intruder to be aware of a camera' presence, an owner doesn't want to lose his night vision when exiting his car, or any other reason - but accept that IR is fitted for good reason.
What I am wondering is the following. IR cameras attract pests, what about this camera? Does anyone already have it hanging and suffering from pests over the lens?
You guys spend a lot of time on the camera but the management software sucks , they really need to improve HIkconnect and a windows friendly app that works to monitor.
I freaging hate the colorvu camera's. Between the ghosting and the non stop insects in front of your camera's they somewhat work, but in my opinion they are absolutely useless. What intruder will stand still for you to get an idea of what features they have ?😂
Shutter Speed is not the cause of "ghosting" generally, what you're seeing is compression artifacts from the de noise filter. Blurry moving objects would be more in line with shutter speed, not a trailing ghost. the default shutter speed is stupid and should not be used other than for alerts only. 1/50 would be a good minimum but that's still not fast enough for walking speed across the frame if you want "Tack Sharp Faces". You can improve or outright fix ghosting by increasing the bitrate and/or lowering the "Digital Noise Reduction", default is 50, try 30/35. For 8MP use at least 8192Kbps bitrate and H265 (not +). Also, sometimes the "Main" video stream and the "Event" video stream can have different settings, so live view could be 8192 bitrate but when an event is triggered it switches to something lower making a horrible mess. This is something you will find when viewing the settings from an NVR.
No, Hybrid is a good all-rounder yes... "2nd best of both worlds" would be more accurate from the guys. The "Standard" ColorVu is objectively better in low light as shown in this video and on the official HikVision website.
