Got both Hikvision and Blink and they both have their strengths and weaknesses. Blink was super easy to set up and use, but the battery limits the amount of video you'll want to record. Great for just keeping an idea on your property or seeing parcels being delivered, and for this purpose the battery lasts well over a year. Hikvision has always been far more painful to setup (I have older cameras), especially for a DIY'er and also because I don't have a PC - only a Mac - so it makes life far far harder than it needs to be. Love them both though. If you want constant monitoring or you'll have a lot of movement on the camera, go Hikvision. Otherwise, I wholeheartedly recommend Blink cameras, especially when bought on Prime Days as it makes them dirt cheap, they're so easy to use, and also easy to place literally anywhere around your property (I have one in my bush looking at my front door), you'll be up and running in no time.
Nice video as looking at Blink just now, not for house but for campervan. You ever thought of doing a video or do you know of any gear maybe in the middle ground for campervan install with cameras that can pan and tilt. Keep up the the videos.
Personally I think the blink is perfect for a camper as you can take them down and recharge as/ when you need them. A wired system would be nightmare to install in a finished campervan
Love these videos so much Pete! Keep up the great efforts 🥳🔥 👏 👏
I love you Harry, you are so good the way you explain thing, keep it up....
Brilliant video I’m using Blink since last 4 years and I will look for a different system as battery not lasting long on them.
I love my Hikvision setup. I installed my own as I was able to find a company who would supply them to the public as well as trade.

Thanks for the comment! A great bit of insight into long term ownership
Great video. What about a comparison between Hikvision vs.Lorex?
Do you have the Lorex, let me know what you think?

hik camera will still be going strong in years to come even recording 24/7 the blink will last 3/5 years max the build quality is garbage
Don't waste your money on blink, the amount of motion detection they miss is unreal
Hikvision is DIY unless you're elderly. One of these is a security system and the other is a novelty gift.
