I needed this laugh. My grandmother passed away at 93 on Monday morning. I was by her side at least as she left us. My world is turned upside down, she's been my life since I was 17 months old. Not sure what I'm going to do! I miss her.

I know someone who keeps an open phone line with his friend every day. Sometimes I hear the other person clear his throat, & this guy will take the phone out of his pocket & go "Did you say something? " The other guy says "no". Phone goes back in his pocket. JUST HANG UP UNTIL YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY!
I used to do that with one of my co-workers when we were forced to work from home during Covid-19. Just kept a line open whilst tapping away on our computers and kept speaking occasionally like we were in office. Before that most men seem to avoid phone calls. As a British guy calls were usually. "...Pub? Yep? Cool. See you there. bye"

They would stop functioning almost completely, except deep in their minds they would have adventures and experiences that were completely impossible in real life. As they lay there, completely vulnerable to their enemies, their only movements were to occasionally shift from one position to another; or, if one of the 'mind adventures' got too real, they would sit up and scream and be glad they weren't unconscious anymore. Then they would drink a lot of coffee.'
