I also understand that these loans from China do not require the country to act according to US requirements, they do not require new laws to be implemented, no change in voting rights in the client country, no change in internal policies whatsoever. It’s just a loan, an agreement on how the project is to be run not like those from the US.

When such an enormous project is going to take place, I am certain that the Chinese government assigned the best minds in China to plan out the trading routes that would benefit every single countries that it touches. Hence I would conclude that the dying USA, on its last leg, is scaremongering the world to believe that the belt road initiative is a debt trap for them. Every business ventures requires startup money no matter how small or large the business size is. This Belt Road project is no different from any other projects taking place around the world even as I am typing this comment. It's about time that in the 21st century that we need an upgraded trading system around the world and the Belt Road project is only the beginning of a bright new world. It will remain to serve the world until teleportation technology in the 23rd century or beyond becomes a reality. By then, it will still remain for a long time as China's 21st century master piece that rivals the Great Wall.

  • @meditadz

US is quick to label initiatives from China with derogatory terms. BRI seems to be a grand project that will leave the participating countries with good infrastructure that will facilitate trade with China and other countries. From what I read, President Biden's administration is proposing a 2 trillion dollar investment in US infrastructure. Not all countries have similar deep pockets. So it makes logical sense for some countries to work with China where China can provide the needed capital.

I would like to ask this naive lady: Why Sri Lanka leasing a port to China is a trap? Sri Lanka is not able to pay back the loan, so it has to give someting right? either a port or something else right? you can not expect that China doesn't ask for anything when you can't pay back.

    • @medialcanthus9681

When the American government attacked and destroyed sovereign nations, is also an excellent projects, as they can then rewards the building projects to the American companies (they will then sub-contracts back to the local companies
    Plus regime change, etc
Countries buying American military hardware is good, is only good to the American companies, keep the American in work.

hi~Tuykey can play a big role in the BRI and benefit a lot from it because of your geographical advantage, let chinese help you build power plant, port, update railway and highway network, build telecom.network, infrastructure is a huge investment and long term return, many small states like Sri Lanka and Maldive with small population, the return period will be surely long, some projects maybe will be paid back in 50-100 years, but states and people there really need good infrastructure to better human life,to grow economy,to decrease unemployment rate,to further absorb foreign business.Sri Lankan port is a kind of lease, its land, territory belongs to Sri Lankan gov't,Ministery, police, administration, legislation, etc.all and all are under Sri Lankan's absolutely direct control, chinese there just rented and run a commercial port because the gov't is unable to pay back the huge fund in time that chinese invested ,not invasion at all,not like British Empire forced chinese qing empire to "rent" Hong Kong, anyhow Sri Lanka, such a small country, cannot build such a big facility, which is now bringing benefit to its gov't and people,US doesn't like BRI,they are envious of it,they fear they are losing their influence and dominance in the world, they deem China as their competitor and rival, they go all way out to sabotage BRI,take every opportunity to criticize China,by lies,by false, exaggerated excuses such as "Dept Trap","economic exploitation","communism expansion","cause corruption and have no transparency",etc,US ask its ally such as Japan,India,Australian.to contain China.
BRI is just a huge economic and commercial projects,it is mutual benefit to each other, nobody forces you to take it to do business with Chinese, not like British or American Empire 100 years ago threaten other states with military forces,in fact,BRI is a great geat peaceful, mutual development initiative. It is promoting peace, promoting an opening, tolerant state and society,it is strengthing people to people exchange, from West to East,it is promoting better fast communication of ideas and information, and technology exchange,of course,in some circumstances,a small fraction of them, there some kind of corruption occurs, but it is not the fault of BRI, or all are Chinese's fault,it is concerned with many aspects and just some minor negative sides,it can be solved and avoided by cooperation.
Turkey is big and strong powerhouse in the region between Asia and Euro, with pretty big economy, you can benefit a lot through cooperation with China.
    Really!Go,Turkey!,Long Live China-Turkey Friendship
