  • 4,000 IU of vitamin D a day are recommended for elders at high risk for falling to improve muscle strength and balance, though there is something that works even better.

    Please get rid of the "thump" in the jingle. I always put my speakers volume up to hear Dr. Greger clearly and then have to try and remember to turn them down before the loud "thump" blows my ears out.

      Try the kora around Lake Manasorovar and Mt' Kailash in Tibet. Om Nama Shivaya! "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." You might even develop some more red blood cells out of this particular high altitude exercise. I recommend World Expeditions.

      Yeah, for a 64 yr-old water dragon . I've been basically vegetarian since ' '71 after training with weights for three years in high school and getting all kinds of terrible dietary advice. Because of personal economics I usually only ate one meal a day before going on to understand the value of fasting from Arnold Erhet (Google online). I've worked too hard at low paying jobs and have injuries and am recovering from a recent cycling accident and a broken kneecap. In the long haul of the eternal moment we are all young, all ancient and all the one life now... Best wishes.

    I have learned that the minimum dosage is 1000iu/100lbs of body weight each day with as much time in the sun as possible is the best. Walking in the sun will do wonders for muscle strength and balance, not to mention our mood and attention span. Thank you Dr. Greger.

    I like this motion graphic treatment a lot! It mimics how the eye zeros in on specific factors while reading scientific text. Well done.

      I seems like a strange argument that he would have to speak slower because of the video. They could just run the movie at 1.2 speed or so when he put in the sound if he wanted to speak faster.

    I prefer the previous system's higher contrast between quoted text vs background; and with the journal, date, title, and authors staying prominently visible. The zooming and movement is off-putting. The new red circles and red-and-yellow hiliting's nice tho. More important are the videos' titles: I prefer titles to summarize rather than be click-baity questions.

    Don't like the perspective animations at all. It makes the text and captions unintelligible. And since many of the papers aren't Open Access, this is the only chance many of us get, to read the graphics.

    dont get me wrong but what i dont particularly like about these "vitamin-d" studies is that they focus on vitamin-d much rather than what they should study on (imo) which is sunshine
    for example if u live in cold climate and are in the sun all day at a latitude where u dont actually get much (or any) vitamin-d in my mind u should still benefit plenty from the sun exposure to the skin and eyes (even if u correct for good air and exercise/movement (possible other stuff?) that u get additinally when being outside)

    Ive heard that not many vitamin D suppliments are vegan - how can you tell and what ones do you recommend?

    • @tranquil87
      @tranquil87 7 лет назад +2

      You can tell because the vegan ones advertise it as vegan because they are much more expensive. If you look at the bottle you will see. If it says Lanolin in the ingredient list, then it is not vegan, it's from sheep.

      It's my understanding that with a plant-based diet, with enough variety, that K1 can be sufficiently converted to K2 where needed by the body.
      If you're worried whether you have enough K1 in your diet than the information is a simple internet search away.

      Lichtblick I take 20000 IU every 3 days together with 300g of kale (for Vitamin K). Basically I am following Dr. Raimund von Helden in this and bumped up my vitamin D level to 100ng/ml before starting this regimen. Unfortunate his website and his book exist only in german language. Everybody in the german vegan youtube community knows him.
