  • 1983 Australian Ad for the Commodore 64. The music and visuals are so much better than the commercials we had for this computer here in the states.
    NOTE: I needed this ad for a video project on my other channel. So I used the improved audio found in a different ad and re-mixed it to match (as best as possible) the original audio for this commercial. Came out better than I thought so I figured I'd share.

    As a young teen in the 1980s, my friend and I used to laugh at the kid listing the program over and over, as though he were doing something technical and magical. Bahaha! :)

      You could be right. There is a band that plays a cover of The Last Ninja game tune, or at least a part of it. Even though the MOS-SID chip had 3 monophonic, but independent parts, do you think it's easy to play? Hell no, a full band has a lot of trouble keeping up with the Commodore!

    0:18 ... How is the entire classroom supposed to see what's on a tiny 1701 screen? They should have had the 64 hooked up to a big television, or even a projector, which those types of connections were possible back then. Missed opportunity for the commercial, as school administrations would have seen that & say, "Hey we need something like that for our school."

    • @jkeelsnc
      @jkeelsnc 2 года назад +1

      Your are right. In the school district where I lived they used Apple Ii series computers. One of the things they would do for those in the classroom was connect it to a large color tv on the same cart as the computer so that all of the students in the classroom could see what is actually happening on the screen. Also, the tv carts were tall enough so that you could see without other students heads getting in the way. Sometimes, the same cart would have a VCR for playing instructional and educational videos.

    • @robwebnoid5763
      @robwebnoid5763 2 года назад +1

      @@jkeelsnc ... Hi, yes, our schools had those types of rolling carts too, just not with C-64's, as they did not use them. Our school used primarily TRS-80's (the ones with integrated monitors) for programming classes, although not really for stage projection on a TV/projector. They probably acquired the TRS-80's a few years before the C-64 was born. I actually brought my C-64 to school for one programming finals exam demonstration instead of using the inhouse TRS-80. I'm sure some schools back in the 1980's used C-64's in this fashion with carts, just not ours. Of course, with some C-64 power supplies infamously known to crap out, they probably were questioning their investments, heh.

    • @OldAussieAds

      I know. I don't remember any Australian schools with Commodores in the 80s. As far as I know, they were mostly Apple IIs and Macs (and maybe IBM PCs). But when those school kids came home, there was a good chance they hopped on to their Commodore 64s.
