Grand Prospect Hall (Brooklyn, NY) and Wall Furniture Outlet (WFO) Ads (1987)

Two ads from a the CBS Late Movie 2 (WCBS-NY), which was usually the wee hours. First the Grand Prospect Hall and the screaming proprietors. Perfect for your wedding or special occasion. And the an ad for WFO, which was where all the Long Island residents got their media racks in the 80s. (When you saw that ad, you knew you were up late.)
Genni's Party Center Ad (1986)

Local Staten Island Ad from a the CBS Late Movie airing of The Hustler on 11/21/1986 on WCBS-NY. With the ominous music and over-enthusiastic clown, this is one of the creepier late night ads.

MTV's Pac-Man Contest (1982)
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.4 года назад
In 1982, the then-young MTV cable channel ran a contest to capitalize on the Pac-Man Fever running rampant throughout the country. Cheesy (but fun) promos ensued. Be sure to listen for Alan Hunter referring to the game cartridges as a cassette. (These clips were pulled from Internet Archive uploader Windsinger's thorough collection of off-air recordings. Shared for historical purposes.)

Commercial block from an airing of The Best of Saturday Night Live on July 19, 1986 on WNBC New York. While the broadcast order was maintained, duplicates were removed. Please excuse the audio and video quality (you'll hear a light thumping noise during the quiet parts). I did the best I could to clean things up but this was an SLP recording. Show What You Know (unsold pilot 1998)

Show What You Know was a very simple pilot for a children's educational game show produced by Lucky Cat Productions. The pilot was hosted by Mark Archuleta and featured Larkin Brooks as the teacher and John Pratt as the professor. Third, fourth and fifth grade students from Third Street Elementary. The show never got picked up. I found this pilot on a tape of old game shows that had been sent t...

Being a second generation magician, and a friend of Harry Blackstone JR, as my dad knew Harry Blackstone Sr, I have this to say. Doing magic and illusions in a place that is outside, and surrounded by the audience, with inexperienced assistants, and a TV crew that has no idea how to film magic, well, at least he most likely got payed well, for taking the blame and the heat.
Happy 150th birthday Brandon! Hope we don't see you next year, big guy!
I'm thinking Wall Furniture Outlets was some kind of an alien 👽. Turned out it's an defunct furniture store akin to Seaman's.

Well, at least it’s not a movie based off of Asteroids.
I vaguely remember a similar commercial (may have also been around the time of one of the Olympic games) where the mannequin was above railroad tracks and moving as if it were a locomotive / train engine.
I remember
Mind-melting!
This is Gilderoy Lockheart IRL
Today is Sonic Mania Day! Let’s celebrate the day.
I'd love to fine the group that made this song. I'd buy a whole album of this song.
She looks familiar.
I think the young teenage girl could be Denise Nickerson who played Amy Jennings in Dark Shadows the tv series and Violet in Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory 1971 film.
I want this played at my funeral.
The theme song has a very strong "Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66" quality to it, doesn't it. A lot like Brasil '66's "Mais Que Nada".
How do you add name
Pre-9/11 stuff.💲🍃😎

These are a lot funny than I remember. Not SMOOTH at all, jaja, but funny!
Brings back so many growing up in South Florida during the 80s. This show helped me learn Spanish as a kid
Me too but in Southern California in the 80’s
Yaaaaa 'bops head
If you lived in Miami in the 80s, this was not a TV show, it was a documentary! Perfectly cast.
I've saved this song before but forgot about it. Relistening to it, all I hear is Run, Wolf Warrior, Run from Wolf's Rain.
Tremendo anuncio yo me acuerdo bendiciones para ambos.

I remember this contest from Mickey D's during my elementary school days
Despite the tension between Leonard and Duran, Leonard has been quoted as saying Duran treated Sugar Ray Leonard’s Son as if he was his own. Duran did not have a son at that time I believe. Sugar Ray Leonard was actually very surprised.
Did you somehow manage to miss the boy in the white vest at the start? Did you not hear him say 'papa' and then walk over to Duran? Did you also miss the caption that said 'Roberto Duran and Son'?
@@ppuh6tfrz646 my man, I’m speaking about Duran not having a biological son at that time. The boy in the white was an actor.
@@fernandocabanillas8133 Duran had a six year old son at that time. (Sigh...)
@@ppuh6tfrz646 name?
@@fernandocabanillas8133 Roberto.
Have you even seen the movie of Roberto Duran? Good documentary of a good fighter, everyone should watch it at least once in their lives.
Lol. You had that! Only it said Hey Eric
This was at a crossroads in Blackstone Jr's career. Whilst still a legendary name, his style of stage magic had became old-hat, even cliched. Copperfield and Henning were bigger draws at the time, bringing youth, energy & current stars to the field. Blackstone Jr probably thought The Orange Bowl would be good fun, good publicity & a good payday - Business is business! Sadly, this show seemed a disaster from the start...its like the planners couldn't decide whether it was a magic show or a pantomime! The rabbit production (mistakes and all!) was a classic of magic, but the girl-into-horse. Would have been funny in vaudeville but made little sense here! Had this not been a tightly-choreographed show (even if it doesn't look like it!), I'm sure Blackstone Jr would have effortlessly ad-libbed. And to his credit, he smiles, takes the Beauty Queen's hand and dances down the stairs with her RIP Blackstone Jr
I hope someone needs to post the final “Yule Log” from 12/25/89 on WPIX-TV in its entirety in the future.
Australia i love you
I lost it when I saw the clown. 🤡
There were some huge winds in Miami that night, but it would have been great if they would make the gosh damned cards not fall all over the princesses
This had a soundtrack album that was pretty interesting! It might be worth looking up for a fun topic.
I actually have it. Found the CD at a yard sale for a couple of bucks.
@@DaveMMR there ya go!
Woooooow!!!! First time seeing this what a classic👑
Back when having a movie on tv was something special.
You have to wonder how much it cost to film edit and broadcast this ad when today you could do it especially for free and have in theory millions watch it.
Yeah. "Local" ads are nowhere near as fun nowadays when anyone with a smart phone and a computer made within the last 15 years can put together something and put it up on social media.
He looks so different without the mustache!
As a young teen in the 1980s, my friend and I used to laugh at the kid listing the program over and over, as though he were doing something technical and magical. Bahaha! :)
Alan Hamel (Suzanne Somers husband) was despised by John Ritter. It was Hamel who told Somers she should get the same pay as Ritter and also a major percentage of Three's Company's syndication rights. It was during negotiations that they fired her
hahaha I would love to have this record
The music on the Maximum Overdrive commercial sounds very similar to the Knight Rider theme.
