    I had this done 4 years ago. i had my upper jaw moved out and moved down, and it was widened aswell to give more space to my tongue. the wisdom teeth were also removed at the same time.
    The first 10 days - i couldnt eat, couldnt poop, had intense pain, couldnt sleep, threw up several times daily, felt sick 24/7, half of my face was swollen, lost a lot of weight, walked around in a blur and wasnt myself at all. I felt so sad and sorry for myself the first month. The first 2 months after surgery, i recovered very very very slowly, it was so tough! I'll say this to all who considers getting this done - my face looks way way better in profile and my jaw is aligned and the joints no longer hurt sometimes, but i would NEVER EVER have gone through with this surgery if i had known how bad it would be afterwards. it is very much a test of your mental state to go through this.

    I like that you moved the upper jaw forwards to align the bite, rather than bringing the bottom jaw backwards. After seeing what orthotropics is, I see its common for orthodontists to do this.

    • @amazin7006
      @amazin7006 Год назад

      Orthodonists cant move your jaw, this is an osteotomy that only a surgeon can perform

    • @bran38632
      @bran38632 Год назад +2

      Huge misconception I see all the time. Ask any established orthodontist about this, and they will disagree with you. Having braces or invisalign will never change the positioning or orientation of your upper or lower jaws. All it does is change the alveolar bone which orientates the teeth.
      There's a reason why the Mew scammers got their licenses taken away, because of their misinformed slander of orthodontics.

    • @nottechytutorials
      @nottechytutorials Год назад

      @@bran38632 Which part would orthodontists disagree with? That their practice causes regressed faces? Ofc it does, and ofc they will. I don't believe Mike Mew or his father are scammers, their orthotropic practice is based on facts, and the orthodontists want to take away their licence bc they're taking away repeat customers. And in life you'll see it always comes down to money and having people come back.

    What was the mm of the advancement?

  • @euanhoef8298
    @euanhoef8298 10 лет назад +9

    Can the maxilla be dropped down 3mm while having this surgery? Just looking at how it is done it seems impaction is likely to occur. Do you take into account the mandible resting position to get the correct amount of advancement of the maxilla?
    I've had this surgery before and I wasn't advanced enough.

      i can tell you that i had this done to me 4 years ago. my upper jaw was both moved out, and down at the same time. Also, they somehow widened it, to make more space for my tongue. Dont know if this helps in any way.

    I have a gummy smile(due to vertical maxillary excess I guess) , I have a long face but my chin looks recessed, of course I am not professional, but just a patient, when I try to photoshop my face's side profile as if I am getting jaw surgery, my lower jaw looks bigger and longer than now.I am getting class 3 brace treatment. Is this the surgery that I need to have?(I only had one appointment with my surgeon, he said I need to have bimax surgery and I can't get another appointment due to pandemics, so I am curious to ask) If not, whats the procedure's name for case like me, I want to look further in internet but don't know the exact name of the operation

    i heard that maxilla reduction surgery
    reduces the space between nose and upper lip, which makes the face shorter or should i say smaller, is it true?

    • @WatersAbove77
      @WatersAbove77 Год назад +1

      I don’t think so. It depends how well your teeth are aligned before the surgery. Some people only need braces for a few months but I gotta wear them for a year.

    • @yupucase
      @yupucase Год назад

      Depends, if its not about the jaw, or just teeth issue, then can be done only with braces. But if your jaw is too far, your teeth going no where, unless the jaw is moved..

    • @ryanmitchell4044
      @ryanmitchell4044 11 месяцев назад

      I don’t think it can. The way my orthodontist explained it was that they move your teeth to their proper positions and it functions as a guide for the surgeon to correct your bite. I’m sure they gave me the explanation for dummies though.
