    I like the way EL34 tube distorts, not many Demos of that, I played a jvm 210 on 8 volume clean channel and is was power tube heaven, the distortion, the gain, the dynamics, touch sensitivity, roll clean. It was all there.

    The bass-cone cab is brighter, more treble for sure. The lead cones will fool someone because of the pronounced midrange focus which _seems_ brighter when it's actually more midrange cut and less high-treble. My favorite 4 x 12 load is a combination of G12-75's up top with "Vintage-30's" (funny, neither "30's" nor "vintage" lol) on bottom, in a slant-front. Those two Celestion types combined that way seem to bolster and "fill in" each others frequency-gaps in a manner I really enjoy.
    Love your work Bob, and your informative videos. Thanks!

    I just plug a tube screamer straight into some greenbacks! I don’t even use an amplifier it sounds amazing and I’m saving the environment by not using the electricity to power all those vacuum tubes. You should try it sometime and don’t forget to wear a mask while you’re doing it.

    Really cool to see a comparison of those speakers back to back with the same kind of amp and player. Not allot of people can do that. I encounter a similar situation when discussing speakers. TO me any H style speaker sounds "full" compared to a M, but most people hear M's as "warmer". This explains the loads of people online calling the 55hz bright, I think it might just make the top end stand out more in comparison to a deeper bass resonance.

    • @BobGjika
      @BobGjika  3 года назад +3

      big boss, i knew some of you guys would enjoy that comparison. I agree with your findings.. it drives me nuts when people use the word greenbacks and have no clue of how many different kinds were made

    • @GCKelloch
      @GCKelloch 9 месяцев назад +1

      I love the big bass and clear high-end 55Hz cone sound. The camera mic in this video was too far off axis to really hear the difference in the high-end, but it sounds nice.

    Right cab has more low mids and sounds muffled in comparison to the left cab, which is very articulate and balanced sounding. Left cab sounds better at those amp settings.

    • @JInfinity7

      As many or few as you need it to be. Kidding.

    • @rasjase1
      @rasjase1 3 года назад +1

      @@JInfinity7 lol......there is some truth to that. I've read in some of the forums that they are crazy loud. In Bob's earlier videos you can see the vertical blinds next to him swinging all over the place every time he hits a note from all air they move. But I haven't seen any specs on the actual wattage.

    • @BobGjika
      @BobGjika  3 года назад

      hi Johnny. I have never bothered to measure them, they can get as loud as you want or as low as you want with the Gainmaster. if I did list the wattage it would be deceptive because of the linearity of my output circuit

    • @rasjase1
      @rasjase1 3 года назад

      @@BobGjika right on, I appreciate the quick response Bob. I build amps as a hobby and I have fallen in love with the parallel single ended output topology. I was so happy to find your channel since that seems to be your preference as well. I usually run 6v6s (primarily because I have a bunch of vintage ones on hand) so I was curious what a quad of 77s put out. Thank you very much for taking the time to make these videos, I enjoy them a lot and I really dig the tones you create.

  • @castroj69
    @castroj69 3 года назад +1

    Cool vid. Didn't catch it, are the two amp heads loaded with the two types of tubes you are "comparing"? That would be a good way to compare these in an objective manner.

    • @BobGjika
      @BobGjika  3 года назад +1

      yes but in order to do that in the video I would have to have two exact matching cabs.

      Back in the late 90s , when Shawn was ordering up what would be his last Vigier, (his last guitar, period) he asked me if there was any feature I might add to it. I told him I had always been interested in seeing how a zero radius fretboard would be on an electric. So he ordered it that way. That ax turned out to be his favorite one. And when you order a Vigier, Shawn Lane, Excalibur model today, it comes with a flat radius. I thought it played great too.
      And thanks for the feedback.
