Why am I so f'in addicted to a UK based documentary series about border security? Honestly, I do marvel at their ability to be super nice and ruthless at the same time though.
ragnarocking relatable
ragnarocking I’m not sure but I am also addicted to watching this now and I’m in the USA.
ragnarocking same here I’m addicted watching this
One thing to notice about them, try to understand how old they are. Most I have seen are like a decade old. Lack of mobile phones, older tech for customs control. Just while watching try to understand that some things might not be the same nowadays. It is a shame that the video description does not clarify it. Some episodes show specific countries in bad light, but times have changed.
lol , same story . I even subscribed
In our headphones and in our speakers, the narrator is in a constant battle against the background music.
The sound engineer isn't very good, he's an amateur. He needed to use a side-chain limiter on the music so that every time the narrator speaks, the music volume is automatically lowered. Alternatively, he could have manually fixed it using simple volume automation!

@@weavercs4014 I was walking through that customs area and felt super weird from being on a 10 hour flight having not interacted with anyone the whole time. Just walking felt strange since I was sat down all that time too. I looked over at 3 customs officials who were staring at me and not anyone else, I looked away and looked back and they were still staring. I found it kind of funny though so I chuckled to myself and after that they stopped looking at me.

Why can't they accept the simple idea that some people are just....nervous?!
It is called incompetence NPC-ness. They appear to be humans, but they are not. They are just brainwashed to be useful idiots.

because nervous people have the tighest asshole's. Which makes the Cavity search miles better.
For the same reason people can't accept the fact that they shouldn't smuggle dope.

"why would you be that nervous?" - cause some people myself included have something called anxiety and panic attacks and i'm sure the custom officier should know this because she's dealing with the people on her daily basis
They don’t care. I have panic attacks and I’ve learned the hard way that the average person doesn’t know or care about them.
A guilty conscience or drugs can also make people very nervous! An agent has no way of telling from your face if you have a depressive disorder or a guilty conscience or are affected by drugs so you will be stopped and questioned. For the record, I have generalized anxiety disorder and have lived through a lot of panic attacks. I don't expect anybody but myself to know about my condition. Yes, I've been pulled over and questioned but I don't see it as evidence of the world being uncaring.
Did you pack your own bag?
I can relate to the nervous guy. Any time I get pulled over I am the same way and many times my nervous condition has led to my car being searched. I don't do drugs and never drink and drive, but I'm well aware the power that these people have and how quickly someone could end my life as I know it.
It's much easier to appear confident and collected when your interactions with people outside your social circle are scheduled meetings, where you have adequate time to prepare.
Imagine if you stole someone else bag to avoid getting caught only to find it had an even bigger smuggle of drugs in it? xD I wonder if this has ever happened.
That make a good movie
And then Imagine they are with A Cartel and can reach you in prison or out.
It would be so insane
I actually thought the same thing. Lol.
Well if the bag still has its tag, they can easily prove it doesnt belong to them.
At the 10:20 timestamp: "He did actually admit that he's actually quite nervous."
What did he mean by 'admit'? Is being nervous a crime?
No but it raises suspicion, especially if you are a frequent traveler. They're trained to look for these signs
I heard once that when the Border Patrol/Customs asks questions they're paying attention to how you answer them and act rather than what you actually say.

And if you can explain to people why you are nervous, you also have nothing to worry about
In traffic jams. When people are driving too fast. When overtaking truck. When drivers pass in the right lane, instead of the left. In construction areas, when there is just one narrow lane. When my debit card is declined, and I am sure I have funds in the bank. When documents were once, mostly, hard copies. Now, if you lack computer skills, that makes me nervous. In other words, I am rarely calm. Without my C Pap, I would even be nervous while asleep.

Actually most of the passengers nervous when someone checking them
For crying out loud - some people are just extremely nervous when they are dealing with someone who has the ability to put them under arrest. Some people absolutely ball when they are pulled over even if it is just to let them know their turn signal is not functioning properly.
I would be physical sick if I got stopped and questioned like this.
@@lizhooley6726 I have been questioned like this, because my bag was swabbed and came back positive for explosives residue, I was like so you're saying in the future I probably shouldn't store my suitcase in the same cupboard as my rifles and ammunition?
Yes obviously but they can’t just let people go because “some people are nervous” they have to check to see if they are nervous for any bad reason they can read their minds. They have to do this and profile people to catch actual smugglers otherwise it would be impossible to do so. It’s better to be safe and check everything then be sorry later when you find out they were bringing thousand of dollars so the of Durga. There we so many people caught with a lot a lot of drugs in them that were 1st “pulled over” because they acted nervous, imagine they would’ve let them go out just because “well people are nervous some times” .. they can’t know, they have to check or else they don’t know.

Did I hurt your feelings? You seem to be getting emotional. When you grow up and do some traveling or work in aviation/border protection, you will notice that these tables are not wiped down, and you may even discover that cross-contamination is not such an unthinkable scenario.
@@jaylockwood5030 Facts
@@jaylockwood5030 Since when do officers swab the outside of a suitcase? If you grow up, you will realise that outside contamination is accounted for. You can have traces of cocaine on everything, but it doesn't mean that you are smuggling coke. Sure it shows that you do take cocaine, but not that you are smuggling. You don't get arrested on usage. It is the statute of limitations. For there to be 'cross-contamination' on the inside of the case, an airport official (That are tested for drugs regularly) would need to be doing cocaine recently and have not washed their hands. All in all, it means nothing. Also, what's with your prejudice against people in official positions. Most likely you will comment with 'When have I ever mentioned this?' and my response is 'It's in the way you talk, it is clear'. Just grow up and stop being the inevitable downfall of your country. Its people like you who take from the world and never give back. Id change your act buddy otherwise you will waste your life. Toxicity is not required. Just love Brosky. You don't want to be in a 'Dokumushi'. Be burden-free, not tied down. The ' Moron' comment from @Liam Sweeney was sanctioned. Prejudice is a downfall and that shizz is not necessary. How do these people get all the way to the uk without being caught. Foreign airport security is lacking,
Leaving home is literally like walking into a taxi and driving off. Customs in ur own country doesn't check ur bags, they just tag them and load them onto the plane. They don't even tell you when going thru duty free what ur limits are based on ur destination. So it's easy to leave. Customs when you land is the nightmare you have to deal with. They have the right to tell you that you can't enter and to search you for anything but you always have the right to leave home and go about ur business.
Because usually countries don’t care what u take OUT of the country. They care about what comes IN the country

And as somebody with ADHD, me and my hyperactive restlessness agree. Although, I have been lucky to never appear suspicious enough to be stopped by any agents or officers.
I've been to London Heathrow airport many times. They are very, very thorough searching bags. I've been pulled aside. No reason to get nervous if you have nothing to hide. Why people think they can get away with bringing drugs in is idiocy.
I got nervous flying from Texas to Michigan. I didn't have anything bad or illegal or whatever on me and I was still super nervous because something on my hip came up hot and the female officer had to pat me down. I was nearly crying because I was terrified of being arrested and charged with something I didn't even do.... because I have ANXIETY. People with severe anxiety have irrational fears like I do. We KNOW we aren't doing anything but we can't talk ourselves put of our nervousness or fears. Please don't belittle us anymore.
