Bolivian chicken butcher is one of the best characters ever on this show. Heart of gold and speech of a madman.
Poor man, he counldn't communicate fluently so he was a bit nervous.
Customs loose again. The machine screws up with readings over and over, time to scrap this pos. Guy was arrested for suspicion of drug smuggling. He should sue them for false arrest and get some money back for their incompetence and that would stop this passenger harassment because of their screwed up equipment.
He's not Bolivian. That's a Portuguese passport on his hand.

Also, thesr things are possible. Even in the presence of CCTV, watch your stuff. People could also hide stuff in your jacket pockets etc.
Alex Kennedy see look, this is not some store cameras, they can show you all angles of EVERY corner especially at the big airports to prezent crime. If someone stole something they would be able to check on cctv and the person would be stopped as they have everyones details.

tbh I had, I tend to fly to European main cities every now and then just to buy clothing, so I'm travelling empty but returning with many items.
When I went to Italy I brought an empty suitcase with me because I knew I wanted to bring back lots of wine and souvenirs.
I always bring an empty duffle bag for souvenirs or any goodies I want

I still remember my early days of traveling internationally, the language barrier does make an innocent person more nervous than he or she needs to be when questioned by officials.
also being pulled aside for no reason, and having an officer asking you all kinds of stupid question while rummaging through your personal belongings because they have absolutely no concept of "invasion of privacy"

There's different indicators which on their own don't seem suspicious to most people but when working in border security they know certain things make someone more likely to be involved in something illegal. I'm a UK citizen, but pulled over and searched quite a few times returning to the UK because I like travelling alone. I know I haven't done anything wrong, but watching this show makes it very obvious that there's plenty of people travelling alone on "holiday" for the purpose of bringing back drugs.
It isn't really that much of a hassle to answer a few questions and let them check that your bags don't have anything illegal in. I'd much rather that than britian being flooded with even more illicit drugs than we already have.
Language barriers do make it harder though. I can empathise with the nervous feeling there, not knowing if you're being properly understood or if you're properly understanding them.
I think the Bolivian guy was probably just nervous because he was in a country where he couldn't communicate well. But they understood enough and got the job done. He seemed like a good guy.
It is truly mind-boggling that major airports in the UK do not have translators for very common languages. I saw one episode where they had a translator for Romanian, but not for Spanish.
This was back in the day. Nowadays they have translation readily avail for many languages.

On the left lung base (of the subject) there is the heart shadow and on the right lung base there is the liver as it goes up with the diaphragm during a deep inhalation. As for the spots near the mediastinum (middle) , they look overimposed to the lung parenchyma, probably being the major blood vessels of the heart ( aorta, vena cava etc.)
Sadly, sniffer Dog Barnie had to enroll in a twelve step program for drug addiction. Barnie took early retirement rather than return to duty. Hang in there tiger.

They just try to justify their mistake with an arrogant excuse to why it was the passenger's own fault they were stopped. Never mind embarrassing them and stressing them out. The interesting thing was that his accent was not Latin American Spanish at all! I’m a fluent Spanish speaker and have had many friends from Latin America. His first language might have been an indigenous one.

Well they are showing us special cases, right? Even most people stopped must turn up negative.
Cause mostly they shoot blindly. Besides cigarettes, where most of bloody declare points are not properly highlighed so they can 'find amazing amounts'. Fuckin scummy way of that it is.
Well, if you test most of these custom officers, it is more likely that they will have a positive reading as well. If they happened to be travelling they could get stopped too because they come in contact with drugs almost everyday. A lot of them are traffickers too.
It’s probably programmed to give it a positive reading. If u watch the other episode it never has a negative reading. Meaning they use the machine to give a reason to do invasive searches. Seems shady as fuck

For me it is always astonishing how addictive cigarettes are. People are willing to get fined, jailed, face serious consequences but they do all that just to get their cigarettes cheaper.
I never heard about someone smuggling 50 bottles of Cameroonian Whisky (it is good btw!) to get the alcohol dose cheaper, but for cigarettes people go haywire.
In Germany thousands go to Poland to buy untaxed smuggled Russian cigarettes. German customs catches a good hundred of people each weekend, but they continue. Some already in jail. Cigarettes seem to be the center of life for those people. Without cigarettes they can obviously not exist in their opinion. Smoking Smoking Smoking without questioning anything. And trying to smuggle the next 500 packages the next weekend.
Stopping smoking? Never on their mind.
Lessons we learned about max. allowances: Money- 1000 pounds, tobacco- 2500 g, cigarettes- 200 ones (ie one tube), fish- 20 kg.
No allowance of drugs or firearms.

It’s like how the strongest and highest quality versions of poppers (amyl nitrate) can never be imported into the U.K., even if unopened in a passengers luggage, purchased at full price from a club or other venue, nor imported from mail order from a foreign website, even if allowing for the fact that as one ages, one needs stronger versions to get the same effect compared to trying them for the first time out of a new bottle in a club in the 1990’s as a teenager - since that time, poppers have also been chemically watered down and the quality and purity had been decreased as has packaging and storage fallen as well
