  • So I borrowed these two old french Wonder flashlights from my father-in-law's cabin. I wanted to restore and upgrade them a bit. DIY style. They are both from the 1940`s
One got a warm light led array, and the other got a "normal" light directional led. One got an AAA battery compartment and the other got a lipo battery that u can charge trough the hole in the bottom :D
The brass part is there to conduct the heat away from the led and into the chassis. I will in the future fix the glasses with som good acrylic varnish to make them 100% translucent.
I am unsure how the different finishes will hold up, especially the crackling lacquer, I will keep you posted on that.
Now to sneak them back into the cabin
I also got an Amazon affiliate link, and that is super cool.
So press the link below if you are going to buy anything :D

I loved those lights as a kid! My grandad had to pay quite a pretty penny to keep our lamps going. Their ergonomics never made any sense to me though, very akward to hold for longer periods of time. Definitely designed around the battery and to be hung from a nail and not for a human hand. But they were ubiquitous nonetheless.
Your conversions are fantastic btw! Especially the AA one. I always go AA because I'm fed up with all the proprietary chargers.

same, i love the aaa ones, especially when i got some rechargeable ones.
Thank you for the nice comment and nice words. Have a great day.

They're supposed to be hung from a coat or shirt from the pocket to keep your hands free
