  • Professor Harbans Mukhia is an eminent historian of Medieval India. He was one of the founding members of the Centre for Historical Studies, at Jawaharlal Nehru University, where he served as a professor of Medieval Indian History for nearly 4 decades. From his seminal intervention in The Feudalism Debate - an intensely contested aspect of Early Medieval Indian history, to his significant contributions towards popularising the Annales School of Historiography in India, Prof Mukhia has considerably enriched the Historiographical Landscape of India. Apart from such academic ventures, he has also played a significant role in contesting communal interpretations of the Indian Past - a paradigm that still persists in the public domain. He is the founder-editor, of Medieval History Journal, published by SAGE Publications. Prof Mukhia continues to write, opine, and deliver lectures on history and politics.
