    I load my M6 by putting the film leader fully through the sprocket (even further past where you did) and putting the base plate back on before firing the shutter even once. I then fire shutter once after the base plate is back on, and shoot normally from frame 0 through 37. I get 38 full photos each roll, and don't do anything with tightening film rewind lever. Cheers!

      I'm still trying to learn, and basically followed the Leica manual. But I still seem to be wasting 4-5 exposures for each roll, and sometimes I have extra difficulty loading the film. The tip of the film leader is still within the circle, correct? Or does it extend past, through one of the gaps?

      @@sc1 I typically have it extend just past! Maybe like 1-2mm

    You make a comment early on about the quality of the photos and tbh I wouldn't worry about that at all. Most people suck, heck I almost certainly suck myself. And if you've ever seen contact sheets even the people who are actually good (which is vanishingly few) take tons, and I do mean TONS, of frankly pretty disappointing shots. All you can do is keep shooting, and then look at what you get back. Ask yourself what you like, ask what you don't like. Repeat for 20 years.

      As a followup, since you do ask at the end. If you are really serious about improving your photography the secret is books. You need to buy works you like, and you need to figure out why you like them. But even more important, you need to find stuff that people you respect say is good that you dont like. And you need to work out why you don't like it. As an exercise, try to very closely replicate the very best shots. Figure out what it takes to get that shot. Lens, light, processing, etc. Figure out the technique to the full extent. Then you apply what you learn from that to future work. And hopefully by being explicit about copying, you can avoid being too keen to be a ripoff in the future.

      Yep, I suck almost all of the time. But when I get a shot that is vaguely decent, it gives me some satisfaction to keep on trying.

      @@TCMx3 That’s a good point. I have been too hesitant about copying off someone else’s ideas. But if I keep aware of this, maybe I can retain my own originality of my photos.

    Once again, a fantastic presentation of the lens on film. I’m just impressed with your photos exposure, especially in the low light shots! Would like to see if you can try out vintage lenses next, to see how that’ll be. Thank you so much for this review, I have an M6, and it means a lot to see reviews like these.

      I tried out a vintage Leica Dual-Range on my M11 (very affordable) ruclips.net/video/wzWUNzAGel8/видео.html
      but it had a lot of haze and I had too many lenses so I sold it and never had the chance to use it on the MP. But the 35mm Steel Rim and 28mm Summaron are pseudo-vintage, so I have some idea how vintage would look. The modern 28 Elmarit did a good job for me here.

    If I sold everything I could sell to get one camera this set up would be the one.👍

    Thanks for sharing. Just a fun, chill video. I live in NYC and shoot pretty much daily in these areas. I'm on the m240 and I definitely get similar color results off that sensor SOOC, so that's kinda cool to see. The shots by Little Island are particularly nice. The colors and contrast just really came together.

    how much was that breakfast in bryant park? Probably $17? otherwise cool to look at pics with 1990's aesthetics, takes back to those days of looking at the world thru someone else's camera, without the internet.

    • @sc1
      @sc1  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, it was about $24 for the bagel with smoked salmon and the coffee. I would say many of the pictures came out looking like circa 1984. Very cool and different from digital photographs.
