Thank you so much for your comment! I really appreciate you taking a look at my collection! It is quite diverse but I try to have a game for any occasion... which is probably why I have so many! 😅 Robinson Crusoe is definitely a beast rules-wise, but Concordia would be a really easy one to get back to the table! I love the game; wish I played it more! And we have very similar tastes: Maracaibo is my #2 game and Great Western Trail is my #3! (A Feast for Odin is sitting at #1!) What is a board game cocktail dinner? That sounds amazing! Hmm... nothing comes to mind right now! If I can't think of people that will play a game with me, I usually won't buy it. Maybe Lewis & Clark, which I tried to sell a year ago but I still have it! Wish I could help you with those heavy war games, but those aren't necessarily my cup of tea, either! ☕️
Wow, Dave. You’ve said so many words in such a little time. 😁 Lovely video. ❤️ The very first game I ever bought was 7 Wonders, back in 2017 I think. And for years I had only 4 games in my “collection”. In January of 2021 however I started watching some videos about board games (mainly because I was bored) and I was introduced to Root. I loved it so much that I bought a copy the very next day and this started an avalanche 😅 Today my collection has 67 base games and 70 expansions (according to BGG). A month ago I’ve received the entire Vital Lacerda collection (minus Time machine) which I wanted for so long. I don’t play favourites with my games because I love them all. I tried once to do a top 50 list - it was a nightmare 😅 But the 3 most played by far are Pandemic, Clank! (With many many expansions) and Sleeping gods - my best game for last year.
Hey there, Terry! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment; I really appreciate it! (I did say so many words in those 40 minutes... some people think I talk way too fast but I'm glad you saw that as a positive!) 😁 7 Wonders is a great first game to buy; I still think it's such an amazing games! I was the same way in that I only had those five games I mentioned at the beginning of the video for the longest time! But then Stone Age started the avalanche for me! Sounds like you've got a few more board games than I do (62), but I've got more expansions! (Maybe that'll be a future video!) And you have the entire Lacerda collection? I'm so jealous! I was just talking to @Pop Gas about On Mars and Kanban EV! I have yet to play a Lacerda game, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time! (I haven't played Sleeping Gods yet either but I think I will be soon! It looks so good!)
I love seeing collections! I wish I had kept better track of my acquisitions and culls so I could recreate the order in which I obtained games and refined the collection, but I’ve been playing so long I could only guess at a lot of it. 🤓 A few of my favorites I would want to play with you are: Castles of Burgundy, Maracaibo, and Great Western Trail!
I really enjoy seeing other people’s board game collections, too! And thankfully I started keeping track of my game acquisitions in 2019! How long have you been playing/buying games? Those are three great games! Sounds like you’re an Alexander Pfister fan, too! ☺️
@@BoardGameDave Feld & Pfister, all the way! I’ve been playing modern board games since 2006. Carcassonne was the first one that really made me dive in, and Power Grid was the first one that blew my mind. 🤓
Considering your love of Power Grid, your favorite designers could be the Holy (P)finity! Pfister, Feld, and Friese! 🤣 I hate to admit that the only Feld game I've ever played is Castles of Burgundy, although I'd love to play virtually any other game he's designed! Love his style of games!
Great Collection Dave! Thanks for taking the time to share it, such a great video! Love Isle of Skye, Everdell, and would like to try out Potion Explosion!
Thank you for checking out the video, Amber! This video helped me remember some of the gems in my collection that I don’t play often enough, Isle of Skye being one of them! 🏴 Potion Explosion is so much fun; I highly recommend it for the family! ⚗️
Awesome video! You talk about Hannah so much that she's pretty much the second host :D You should get her in front of the camera one of these days. Also, I'm surprised that you're not swimming in review/preview games!!
Hey there, Tae! Thanks for checking out the video! I do talk about Hannah a lot but she's also my primary gaming partner, so it makes sense! We've talked about having her on sometime... maybe later this summer we'll give it a try! And nope; I've only received two review/preview games so far: Furtherance and Seas of Havoc! Maybe more will come down the road but I'm happy to not be overwhelmed with needing to review certain games in a certain time frame!
Thanks so much, Oney! I’m curious which games inspired you to add them to your want-to-buy list! And I’ve been dabbling with game design, but nothing too serious! Do you do any designing? 🎲
Good West seems fun. I’ve been recommended it before but forgot about it. I play a decent amount of regular Mancala, so a Mancala mechanism sounds fun. Also, Heaven & Ale. Same with the dabbling. Made a few super basic prototypes a while ago during the start of the pandemic when I was home 24/7, but nothing past that. Those ideas just live in notebooks and boxes in my closet now.
@@oneysnyder2116 Yeah, Gold West seems to fly under the radar for sure! If you enjoy that Mancala mechanism, I'm sure you'll enjoy (and be very good at) Gold West! And that's cool that you've got some board game ideas! It took a long time for me to realize that having a good idea and even having a working prototype is like 10% of what goes into making a board game. If I ever have an idea that REALLY seems unique and interesting, maybe I'll pursue it further but I've got no plans with my prototypes right now... they live in boxes in my closet, too!
@@BoardGameDave yeah, the process seems grueling to get something from your head to someone’s hands. The print and play Voyagers gave me some hope that it could happen, but still doubtful! Making a pdf and having someone roll 3 D6s is definitely much easier than putting together a ton of stuff in a box.
@@oneysnyder2116 That's a good point! If you've got a good game idea that can be implemented in a decent PnP format, you could get lots of helpful feedback that could guide you toward a much better game, I'm sure! I hadn't really considered that approach!
Brilliant video. Well done. I found you through Monique and La Veen and theirs was an excellent suggestion. Your content is fabulous. BTW loved the outtakes 😍

I haven't played the BGA implementation yet but I hope it gives you a good feel for the game! It's just a brilliant design! And getting Moonshine Empire out actually made me really curious about it, too! I just read the rulebook and watched Tom Vasel's review... seems like it might be a bit unpolished but has some potential! 🍺
@@BoardGameDave The polarizing nature seems to come with people "knowing how the game works" before actually understanding the strategy. If you are into unique movement games with great themes I am confident you will enjoy.
@@longbeachgimpsta After playing it three times, I can see how the game requires a few plays before it really starts to click, particularly with the movement system and how to chain those vehicle movements! Thank you for your comment!

Haha, that’s pretty spot on! 🤣 Except that I’m not sure I have a mediocre game in my collection! I love all of the games I own… except maybe Cheaty Mages? 😂
Loved seeing your collection with a perfect length of explanation about each. I was concerned you were going to be found at the bottom of the collection by Hannah. Exploding potions looks amazing and def 1 I need to research more about. It might be the only other game other than Chinese checkers that has marbles in it. Castles of burgundy and everdell are also on my list to learn more about. I think if we were to play a game it would have to be an Azul marathon. Im constantly changing my mind regarding which is my favourite, until the Queens Garden came out, which is def now top on my list.
Thank you for your kind words, Karen! Haha, no... I haven't been entombed by my board game collection... yet! Potion Explosion is available on Board Game Arena; maybe see if you can try it there! It's a lot of fun! ⚗️ There's a game called Gizmos that also uses marbles in a really fun way! Castles of Burgundy and Everdell are both great as well! And I would actually really enjoy an Azul marathon since I like all four of them! That would be a fun game night! 😊
Everdell is my favorite game, so definitely what I would play with you, Dave! I currently have about 171-180 games in my collection, though I would like to cull some down. :)
Hey there, Randall! Thanks for your comment! Everdell is such a nice game; I’d love to play that one with you! Hannah and I were just talking about getting it back out! It’s been too long! 🦔 Sounds like you’ve got an impressive collection! I know how hard it can be to cull games, though! I always have a hard time letting go of games, even if I hardly ever play them!
Thanks for sharing Dave. You’ve just grown my own wish list. I’d love to hear about games on your wish list that are already on the market (vs kickstarter or coming soon). I also appreciate your call-out of which games have solo modes. I was a little nervous about your games falling over…
Thanks for your comment, Jason! Which games did you add to your list? And I’ve thought about doing a video on my current want-to-but list, although honestly it’s not very long! I do appreciate when a board game comes with a solo mode; I just played Concordia solo this morning! What’s your favorite solo game? (I was starting to get a little nervous, too!) 😂
Great and varied collection! And great presentation too: loved the brief review of ALL the games (except for Cheaty Mages 🤣) and that you added photos/videos during the explaination, it helped a lot! I've started my very own collection last September (my first modern games being Quacks of Quedlinburg and Herbaceous) and now I have about 70 games. I only know it by name, but you seemed too much excited not to play Clans of Caledonia with you 😉
Thank you so much for checking out the video and for your comment, Marco! Yes, I was torn between wanting to talk at length about every game but knowing I had 60+ games to get through! 😅 (Cheaty Mages didn’t take me very long, though!) 70 games in less than a year in the hobby is impressive! What have your favorite game purchases been so far? And yes, Clans of Caledonia is a phenomenal economic game! I’d play it anytime! 🏴 Thanks again for the comment! Nice to meet you!
@@BoardGameDave Thanks, I was VERY hooked by the hobby (and my wallet is so happy for that 🙈), even if I still have to table some of the games I bought. Never let go of that game "A Feast for Odin". That's like Uwe's Avengers Engame equivalent. Did you have the Norweigan Expansion? They say it makes the game twice or 150% better! Never thought you made a 40min worth of a video to inventory all your games but it was fun 😆. Also, please keep the bloopers in the end always 😂.
I never will get rid of "A Feast for Odin"; it's my all-time favorite game! (I'll be introducing it to a friend this Wednesday and I'm so excited!) I do have the Norwegian expansion but it's still in shrink and I've never played with anyone else's copy! They do say it helps with some of the balance issues but I like the base game of AFFO so much already... I've got no complaints! 😊 Yeah, I had been thinking about doing a full collection tour for a while and I figured since it's summer vacation this was probably the best time to do it! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! (And the bloopers! I do my best to keep some bloopers in every video!) 😂
@@BoardGameDave You have the expansion!? Play it already! 😆 but yeah, the base game itself is so good already it can stand on its own but gosh the expansion is top notch. Nice that you still have it in shrink. 👍 Edit: throughout the video when you were stacking those games I got anxious as they may fall apart but the funniest part is when you drop one in your bloopers 🤣. I'm dying.
Haha, I’ll get to the expansion! Honestly, I feel like I’m not in a rush to play with the Norwegians because I enjoy the base game so much by itself! But I’ve only heard good things about it so I should finally break it out! (I was getting nervous about a stack falling over… I should consider myself lucky that I only dropped a few games! @@BoardGameDave Yeah, I was telling some friends I wanted to get Architects before getting 7 Wonders because I had heard that it was easier, but then they recommended me Duels. XD
@@lamfgames Duel is a nearly perfect game for two players! And I think 7 Wonders is definitely accessible and fun for more players and is probably a better game than 7 Wonders Architects based on what I've heard, at least!
It is a whole lot of fun! I go into a lot more detail in my preview video if you’re interested! I didn’t realize it was slated for 2023; that’s a long way off!
@BoardGameDave Mentioned to my wife about how succinctly you were able to go through an entire collection and she was like, well, I'll bet he doesn't have a shelf of shame that's 100+ games which makes me have to ask, is there a secret shelf of shame or do you just play every game you own?
Hey again! Nope, no secret shelf of shame! Luckily I've been able to get almost every single game I own to the table! I think the only exceptions are Moonshine Empire, Endeavor: Age of Sail, and (of course) Cheaty Mages! I think there's a little anxiety when there's a game in my collection that I haven't played, and I'm always so excited to get a new game to the table immediately (and Hannah is always willing to play a new game with me) so typically games don't stay unplayed for very long!
Haha, ich spreche kein deutsch but the game is language independent and it was the only version I could get my hands on at the time! Very observant of you to catch that! 🇩🇪
I do feel like I have a decent variety of games in my collection (abstract games, party games, word games, family games, co-op games, sandbox games, deck builders, etc.) but you're right-I'm definitely partial to Euro games! Show me a mid- to heavy-weight Euro game and there's a 90% chance I'll be into it! (I saw your Scythe video, by the way! I love Scythe and have played it many times!)

The very first game I ever bought was 7 Wonders, back in 2017 I think. And for years I had only 4 games in my “collection”. In January of 2021 however I started watching some videos about board games (mainly because I was bored) and I was introduced to Root. I loved it so much that I bought a copy the very next day and this started an avalanche 😅
Today my collection has 67 base games and 70 expansions (according to BGG). A month ago I’ve received the entire Vital Lacerda collection (minus Time machine) which I wanted for so long. I don’t play favourites with my games because I love them all. I tried once to do a top 50 list - it was a nightmare 😅
But the 3 most played by far are Pandemic, Clank! (With many many expansions) and Sleeping gods - my best game for last year.
Hey there, Terry! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment; I really appreciate it! (I did say so many words in those 40 minutes... some people think I talk way too fast but I'm glad you saw that as a positive!) 😁
7 Wonders is a great first game to buy; I still think it's such an amazing games!
Great and enthusiastic presentation. Thank you!
I really appreciate your comment! Thank you so much! 😊
Great video and some good ideas for my to buy list. Sounds like you’re designing some games too. Super cool stuff and good luck with that!
Thank you so much, Jac! I really appreciate you checking out the channel and leaving such a nice comment! Before You Play is such an amazing channel and I'm so grateful that they mentioned my little channel! (Thank you for sticking around until the outtakes! They're really fun to edit!) 🤣
I'm going to give Clans of Caledonia a try on BGA. Also, looking for videos on Moonshine Empire to see if I would enjoy playing.
Thank you for your comment!
great collection and lovely presentation... loved the outtakes as well... wishing you many many more board games and plays in 2022
Thank you so much, Nitesh! I really appreciate the kind words! (My girlfriend would probably say that I don’t need any more games in 2022, though!) 😉
Game that is good sits in dave s collection: "it s a brilliant game, such a good game".
Game that is mediocre in dave's collection: "it s a brilliant game, such a good game"
I always have a hard time letting go of games, even if I hardly ever play them!
also love everdell, eagerly awaiting the full pledge Kickstarter
@@nobled1050 Ah, I heard about that! That would probably be a little too much for me; I don’t even have any of the existing expansions for Everdell! 😅
Love this kind of video!
I'm so glad you enjoy board game collection tours like this! I really like seeing what games other people have in their collection, too! 😊
I'm particularly into dice management, tile placement and Euro-management games in general. Some of my highlights so far have been Castles of Burgundy (of course!), Carpe Diem (I quite dig Feld's designs 😆), Glow, Troyes, The Magnificent, Dice Forge... I really enjoy word-party games too, like Concept, Cross Clues and Decrypto.
And I could go on forever, but I'm gonna stop here 😅
@@marcodissa Haha, I feel you there! I've kept track of how much I've spent on every game I've bought since 2019 and it's no small amount! 💸 I'm also a huge euro and dice management fan! Castles of Burgundy is the only Feld game I've played so far but I'd love to play more! Have you played Teotihuacan? That's an incredible dice placement/management game! (I enjoy those word-party games with the right people, too!)
@@BoardGameDave Not tried Teotihuacan yet, but I was very intrigued by your description. I have to admit I'm a little intimidated by Daniele Tascini's and "T-series" games (played Tabannusi a while ago and it was quite a headache 😅), but a friend of mine has it, so I'll definitely try it sooner or later. Thanks for the advice and I'll let you know! 😊
And speaking of dice management and Feld, I suggest you "Bora Bora". I'm currently looking for a copy somewhere, even if it's not easy to find even in the second-hand market.
@@marcodissa Oh, Teotihuacan is a blast; I think you’d really enjoy it! I was SO close to buying Tabannusi not that long ago but I watched a bunch of reviews and it just seemed… soul-less? I think Teotihuacan has a lot more thematic intuitiveness and it’s not just a mess of mechanisms! And “Bora Bora” seems like fun! I wonder if my friend Gary has that one; I’d love to give it a try!
Top notch collection, surprised you've never owned Catan. Including expansions and everything logged on BGG, I've had over 700 games, but currently only have around 500.
Thanks for your comment! (Just subscribed to your channel!) I've never owned Catan, although I played it many times years ago! (That's funny that you left this comment last night; I just played Catan yesterday for the first time in probably nearly ten years on BGA!) That's a huge collection! I'd love to see your collection tour sometime!
Another AWESOME video Dave!!! 😊😊😊 Enjoyed seeing your collection and hearing your thoughts. A few of my first “real games” were Machi Koro, No Thanks, Pandemic The Cure, and Splendor. And then it just snowballed from there and the wishlist continues to grow 🤣🤣 🤣. I’ll have to look into a few of yours that I’ve never played too 😊 I hope you are enjoying your summer! Keep the awesome videos coming 😊😊
Thank you for your comment, Bridget! So glad you enjoyed the video! 😊 Sounds like you were fortunate enough to play some great titles as your gateway games! Hope you're able to find some games in my collections that really interest you; let me know if that's the case!
Yeah, I had been thinking about doing a full collection tour for a while and I figured since it's summer vacation this was probably the best time to do it!
Edit: throughout the video when you were stacking those games I got anxious as they may fall apart but the funniest part is when you drop one in your bloopers 🤣.
Although the game I dropped at the end was STONE AGE… that wasn’t funny!) 🥺 (Okay, maybe a little!)
Oh, 7 Wonders Duel is around the top of my list. I'll probably get it at GenCon. XD
That game is absolutely brilliant, Luis! You should definitely get a copy! (It's also got an official PnP solo mode that's excellent!)
Great collection my friend!
Thank you so much for stopping by to check it out, Richard! When can we see your board game collection? 😉
@@BoardGameDave Np mate! Haha ehhh one day, my friend....one day when I find the time haha
@@JendersGaming Yeah, it’s no small undertaking… and I get the feeling you’ve got a much larger collection than I do! 😳
Great collection! Lots of diversity👍I've been hankering to play Teotihuacan again, so if we could play a game together, I think I'd choose that one.
Thanks for checking it out, Billy! Teotihuacan would be a fun one for us to play together; I’d be happy to reteach it to you if you needed! 😊
Great video!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it! ☺️
Impressive collection!
Thank you! Now that you’ve seen the video, were you anticipating a much bigger collection for me to review? ☺️
Hey, you've got all the good ones so that's what counts!
Yeah? That’s good to know! Guess I don’t need any more board games, then! 😉
Wish I backed seas of havoc it looks so dope! Guess I’ll wait a year when it comes to retail
I think there's a little anxiety when there's a game in my collection that I haven't played, and I'm always so excited to get a new game to the table immediately (and Hannah is always willing to play a new game with me) so typically games don't stay unplayed for very long!
you speak german? marco polo ii is in german
Haha, ich spreche kein deutsch but the game is language independent and it was the only version I could get my hands on at the time! Very observant of you to catch that! 🇩🇪
Meh. Just a bunch of Euros.
