Haha, you're not the only one to point out that I can be a bit over-effusive in my reviews from time to time but in fairness this is the first expansion to my #5 game of all time so you can probably understand my excitement! 😅

Eleven modules probably sounds like a lot initially but not once you look at the Kickstarter page (or watch a playthrough). For example, playing with the train board basically adds three modules, and most of the modules are tiny little things like award tiles, the contract refill board, and farmers markets. I went all-in both times I've played so far and it didn't feel too disjointed or overwhelming for what it's worth! But that's just my experience and I'm never upset if you go with your gut in thinking this expansion's not for you! (I'm typically a base game kind of guy in general, actually!) 😅

Have you ever played Clans of Caledonia? I don't remember us ever talking about it, but it is such a brilliant game and the expansion adds so many more fun elements! The coins are not the biggest but they’re very hefty. The game is fine. Lots of interesting mechanics blended together. I wouldn’t table it as much without the coins though 😁

Yeah, they looked chunky! And I get what you mean about not playing a game as much were it not for the coins! 😅 It just makes any game so much better!

Their downside is that they are everything BUT generic and I can’t think of another game to use them with. My other favorite ones have the same issue : Lords of Waterdeep. Amazing heft with unique shapes, but a little too unique…

Right? I couldn't possibly have fit another player into the frame! (I was already using the ultrawide camera on the iPhone!) 😬 We'll have to play it again with Mark sometime, though-I think he still wants to try just the base game and there are lots of new clans to explore, too! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Trashing cards is a great way to get rid of those coppers and estates that you start the game with so you can get to some better cards faster/more often! 👍🏻 You can trash a card from your hand any time you play a card that has a trashing ability on it. (Like the Chapel, for example.) I hope that helps!

It's really good, Adam! I actually just finished filming a 2P playthrough with my friend Mark and we had a blast with it! I really enjoy trying to maximize the train board and all the new modules (and clans!) are a ton of fun! 🚂

Oh, for sure! This is definitely the gold standard when it comes to a board game organizer-a storage slot/container for every component AND they're all labeled? 🤩 How do we ratify this into the board game publishers' constitution? 📜

I bought a pack of 50 gold only coins for my boardgames. At first i had a honeymoon phase with them where i would treat them very delicately. But now i put them in a sack, jingling and scraping against each other all the time. Doing that does produce some tiny hard to see scratches (adds character and aesthetic really tbh) But as far as discoloration. I got them a year ago id say, and they dont rub off on my fingers or my boardgames or table. They still have that dull gold look on them like when i got them new. There will be very very minor defects on a few coins when you first get them, but its easy to ignore. They are quality checked before shipped. Too expensive if you wanted to get the FULL set. Best if you get just a few of the coins you DO like. But even then if its for board games then youd still need other metal coins to round out denominations. Be sure to check for discount codes before you order too.

(In case i misinterpretted what you asked, the coins do have a non uniform coloration to them. Meaning you will get some coins rhat are darker or lighter than the rest)

@@BoardGameDave I have the Japanese Themed Gaming Coins by TheBrokenToken. The 35, 25 and 20 mm coins are perfect. No denominations, but the size and colors are distinct enough that it doesn't matter. Their selection is crazy. I also use coins from TokensGarden; the ones with a flower/vine motif. Perfect for Rosenberg games.
