The ranking system corruption argument (mostly) is just a pool of insecurities but the farming "problem" are players who farm and then brag to lower ranked players who dont know any better so they're ego gets inflated, its pretty sad to witness (because i was this type of farmer in the past and the realization hit hard) and the only thing i can say is i totally agree with you, play however you want, just dont be toxic. Or in short...

Well, this doesn't change the fact that unbalanced things are to be fixed. I can see your point, but I disagree on the fact that you're not "impacting others", because you clearly are. This game's ranking system is determined by metrics that determine your global position. We shouldn't be comformists about this : this is a community driven game, and we ARE the community. WE, as a whole, determine what is deemed difficult or not. If you don't care go ahead, but don't give people false ideas about how abusing a system is good.

The rank system will never be perfectly balanced. There will always be an exploit to make maps give huge rank. So there is no point in worrying about it because its just a part of the game. After all, each buff they make to a certain aspect of the performance calculation will just create a new mapping meta

I dont pp farm i stay away from it since i feel like im cheating by doing 1 minute maps, im just enjoying the game it gets me excited passing 4+minute maps my adrenaline pumps up. Yea anyone can pp farm, others shouldn’t look down to them for enjoying the game.

I don’t understand why getting good at a certain map that you enjoy makes you labeled “a pp farmer”. I almost never retry maps myself but i don’t have a problem with people who like FC’ing. If you want to climb the ladder then that’s fine. No one who isn’t one of those annoying “Never retry maps, if you have less than this accuracy and that accuracy you suck blah blah blah” is judging you. Just have fun, it’s only a game after all.
It's the the fact that pp farmers usually retry a map a lot, it's the fact that pp farmers play more or less "easy" maps and FC them for high reward is how you're labeled a pp farmer.

personnaly i play almost only ranked maps but i only play ones that i like (the style,the music etc) and the score itself is more of a reward or a motivation to go even further than anything else
I used to farm pp for most of my career on osu. But I looked at the other side. *Am I improving, or am I just playing the game with an enhancement?* And I honestly haven't noticed how much I suck at stream maps, tech maps, and alternating jump maps/or just alt maps. So now all I do is practice to get better at the game, and rarely farm.

if you're struggling with consistency, don't play maps to pass them, play maps to fc to get better consistency. if you're not having fun, try your absolute hardest to find what you enjoy, worst comes to worst there's nothing wrong with taking breaks, and a positive attitude is essential. just keep the mentality that you know that every second of practice just makes you that much little better at the game

"Enjoying the game", whatever shitty method you use to play the game, as long as you enjoy the game, it's totally up to you. But, tell ya what, farming.. Wait, increasing pp with some ez pp maps, does necessary, personally. I mean, if you keep pushing yourself like passing some maps that totally above you, you're going to develop a bad habit with 'keeping' that inconsistency. Say, you're able to pass 6+ stars with good acc, but never actually fc'ed some maps in your comfort zone, when you try it, you'll struggle to hit ez pp maps consistently. My point is, if you enjoy pushing yourselves, don't forget to mind your current skill level, to avoid struggle fcing maps on your current level.
I been there, trust me. I'm a 5-digit, not so great, just in case you guys wondering.

This is just my opinion, but oh well.
What I think about pp farming is, YOU NEED TO DO IT, otherwise you won't grow any rank.
A "normal" map is sometimes highly underweight and consider not that much pp, so I guess you could still play "normal" map as you wanted, but don't forget about your rank
You don't need to if you don't give f about rank,for example tech map players play them cuz they like to, even though they don't give much pepe

I agree with most of this video. But when you pp farm, are you REALLY having fun? I used to pp farm myself and literally got tired of it. When you pp farm yourself, aren't you ruining the ranking system for others? But that's where I agree with you. Because I have fun I really don't care about ranks, and because of that, I don't care if you pp farm. My only problem with pp farming is that it ruins the beat map choices for people who don't pp farm. Many of my favorite mappers have gone in this spiral of 1 - 2 maps which get billions of plays, and there's almost nothing left that is fun. Not only that, the loved section is also turning shit. All we have left are literally some loved, some ranked, and graveyard maps. Just asking, is it only me who is tired of this bs? Or do you like playing the same map over and over again but with a different song?

Nevo, armin, sotarks are to be avoided, but not every of their maps are pp farm. Sotarks mapped TRY UNITE aran remix, which the original mapping that gets famous is loved, and Sotarks mapped it and gets it ranked, and it was awesome. Try playing it.
what do you mean breaking the ranking system for others? if you care about ranking systems, then you play competetivly. that's how it works in all games. just because you're not good doesn't mean you can complain
@@GavinosuHighlights playing competitively means you want to be the best osu player. But the thing is: FCing sotarks maps doesnt make you a good osu player. Maybe it makes you good at jumps, but thats it. Things like reading, tapping control and rhythm sense are not present on farming maps.
It is possible to care about ranks and dont farm at the same time.

Imo you're not really progressing as such, which means as you drop lower you might get stuck because you have to start doing harder levels
people who play hard maps they can barely pass, get good at passing really hard maps. people who play maps for pp and try to fc them, get good at fcing maps. they both have merit to them.
It depends what maps they're trying to fc ig, if it's just doing normal with a bunch of dt hd hr then my earlier comment, because If you're getting good at those normal maps with tons of mods, you might struggle transitioning to hard maps with lower/higher ar etc
