  • Super quick video of me typing on my newest handwired keyboard, the ScottoLong, named that way because of the 7u spacebar. It uses Akko Lavender Purple switches that have been lubed with Krytox 205G0. Spacebar uses a lubed and filmed holy panda. The keycaps are Drop MT3 Captain America that I somehow managed to snag for $25 on a recent sale.
You can find the switches here: amzn.to/3hvWPSh

Full build video coming Friday November 11th, 2022, and I am convinced it's one of my best videos to date. You definitely don't want to miss it so make sure you have those notifications on :)

Thank you! Makes me really want to build something with a 10u but they’re really hard to find / expensive. Maybe I’ll 3D print one.

daaaaaamn dude, that sounds REALLY good!

The thing is I don’t know if it’s the keycaps, switches, or the thicker walled case design lol

@@joe_scotto my gut instinct is that the thicker walled case is doing most of the profiling by way of bouncing the sound sourced by the caps & switches.
I just got my direct drive installed and bed mainly calibrated; i think i'd like to iterate on your STL (i've been wanting to learn Fusion360 - projects like these might be the motivational push to do it!) and try printing one myself!

Do share it once you modify it :)

Beautiful build! What sort of layout do you use here? I’m so confused where you would put the enter, shift, modifier keys, etc. I assume the control keys are for layers?

Coming this week I have a video on that :)
But to answer your question now… yes it’s the control keys for layers that also have dual purpose if I hold vs tap.

I'm soldering the wires to this build as we speak. Is there any benefit in using the raspberry pi compared to a Pro Micro? I'm planning to adapt the keymap and JSON for a pro micro but wondering if this will cause problems

Nevermind I found your Reddit post and you've already answered my question. Thanks!

I'll add that in case you don't know, all you have to do to convert to the Pro Micro is set "bootloader" to "caterina" and "processor" to "atmega32u4" inside of info.json.
The "caterina" part is important because without it you won't have bootmagic, which is helpful.
As for the pins, I would recommend copying them from the ScottoAlp. After changing those 4 lines, you should be all set to use the Pro Micro.
