I just bought this. After working with RED, ARRI, Sony and BM footage, I think the BM matches up with ARRI footage quite well! Not quite as much DR but very close! The organic color and texture are very ARRI-like!
Thank you for creating content man. I've been watching your stuff for a few weeks now and I like your vibe. I'm looking into buying a camera sometime soon and I have an neighbour that if selling the C200 at 1700$ CAD, but I've been attracted to Blackmagic too. I like the images it produces. If you'd have to pick between the C200 and BMPCC 6K G2, I'd be curious to know which one you'd pick out of the two (or another body) in the same price range.
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. Wow $1700 for a C200 is a really good deal. I think it really depends on what kind of stuff you will be shooting. I like Blackmagic image quality more, and generally Blackmagic cameras have more features and capabilities, but ultimately I choose the C200 for myself because: 1. I need a fully articulating screen and sometimes autofocus for these RUclips videos 2. I need something with all around great image quality 3. I need something reliable and versatile (It isn't going to break, I can use it in small or big production settings) 4. I like minimal setups, so I want great internal battery life and no external rigging Almost any Blackmagic camera could fit the bill too (sometimes with extra rigging) but I just wanted something simple, and a used C200 is so cheap these days. HOWEVER if you are only shooting cinema stuff and never really doing solo talking head stuff, I would go Blackmagic every single time. You're going to get better image quality (in my opinion), way more codec/frame rate/resolution options, better menus, and probably just an all around experience. I guess basically if you go C200 you'll get versatility and simplicity. If you go BMPCC 6k G2 you'll get a better image and spend less money. Definitely my subjective opinion, but I hope that helps.
@@jakehayden998 These are great points. I'm really attracted by the build and simplicity of the C200, but the Black Magic images are more convincing to me and there are more codec/frame rate/resolution options. As for the price, the C200 seems to be cheaper, at least for me, at 1700$ CAD, ready to shoot. Whereas the 6K G2 is more expensive used, and I'd have to spend money to rig it up a little bit. This is going to be a hard decision.
The only lenses that I have for now are vintage photo lenses (35mm, 50mm) and an adapter that allowed them to go on a 5D mark ii. I'd like to buy a more ''serious'' and modern lens that is versatile and doesn't break the bank. Haven't researched that yet.
@@jakehayden998 I have 2 Olympus 12-40’s. 3 sigma 30mm, And a Rokinon 12mm. I’m wondering whether the open gate would be beneficial as it would allow me to crop in if needed , which would also help if I need to stabilise in post.
Great content. Question i just got one with no lens can’t afford whats the cheapest route i can go maybe $200/$300 range for lens ? Also cheap nd filter link ? And how do u make the monitor last long ik them 2 batteries die fast
Vintage lenses are always a great route when trying to save money. The Rokinon cine primes are also decent for the price. My favorite cheap ND filters come from URTH - amzn.to/47FWtwX (affiliated) As far as your monitor dying too fast, that's just the nature of the beast. Might need to stock up on batteries!
Good video bro i got the chance to get this camera with a high end lens the camera is done right up i want to start taking my channel more serious you think i should grab this?
Finally someone who talks about the amazing picture quality during all this full frame hype. Don’t get me wrong, I actually consider the new Blackmagic Cinema Camera full frame. But I remember people talking about the amazing picture that comes out of the BMPCC 6k, and now that the new camera is coming, everyone seems to discuss picture quality and how amazing the new camera is, like the BMPCC doesn’t have a good image. At least it’s the impression I get from all the reviewers. I have the BMPCC 6k G2 with Zeiss prime lenses, and I love the image. Will the new camera be better ? Likely. But the BMPCC 6k still has this amazing image everybody discussed before the new one was announced.
No XLR ports? No continues follow focus? what?! is 2023!! Whatblackmagic camera to choose for a low cost to make your own short plays and monologues where you're front of the camera and your own team then? Had hoped to set up this one at home to act in front live,,, what to choose now in 2023 that give the cinematic look for a home studio

Thanks a bunch, I appreciate that
Thanks for the Fantastic Reviews, Jake!! Pure Gold, and I'm confident your channel will really blow up. Cheers, Brother 😎

To this day, the footage out of this camera looks the most organic out of anything in its price range. Punching way above its weight.
Couldn’t agree more
Thanks for bringing attention to this product. Seriously considering getting it.
killin it man, way to go
Thanks my man, I appreciate it a lot
Another awesome review 🙏🏾
Thanks for saying that, I really appreciate it
Nice breakdown, Jake! Really like how you put this together 👌

I'm a Sony shooter but so want this camera!

Do you have any lenses already? What lenses would want to get for either camera?

Really torn on what BM camera to get got an upgrade on my 4k.
The BMPCC 6k g2 would definitely feel like a big upgrade and isn’t that much more expensive these days. What lenses do you have?
