As a 67 year old man I have never worn lipstick in my life! BUT, as always, Sarah, this video is great. There is always something for everyone in your videos. I guess, for me, this video was simply amusing while also encouraging performers to perform looking how they feel most comfortable. Thank you, Sarah, you're the best!!
I don’t play the recorder I want to learn just cause Sarah is so cool I listen to Sarah like I’m listening to a podcast while I’m driving best entertainment RUclips has to offer me
Matt lipstick will never go out of style! It's classic. Glossy lipstick is only good for wearing for having photos taken as glossy, greasy lipstick doesn't stay nice looking. The cosmetic companies have to appear to change "fashion" to keep customers buying new. Your fingernails are very attractive also.
Sarah, I would absolutely LOVE IT if you could make an updated video on your entire recorder collection. I absolutely adore those types of videos (as well as your other ones 😉)
Oohhh, I get this question a lot! But to be honest, I’m not going to- now with a larger following I don’t want to advertise to the world all the items in my studio, and it just doesn’t feel safe. Sorry!
As a bassoonist, I don't wear lipstick when playing, it's a pain with the reed. With my recorder, absolutely, but my instruments are either plastic or thoroughly sealed wood. My lips are my favorite facial feature and I love highlighting them.
I don't perform almost, but I wouldn't say I like the feeling of any lipstick on my lips. Thanks to your old video, I discovered for myself BENEFIT TINTS, the same as you show at the end of this video. They are different colours. I have almost all of them now, but your BeneTint colour has the lightest texture; it's just a tint. I wear them in everyday life and happened to play with them on recorders and flute - no damage to instruments or to sound. Thank you, Sarah!
Me too, I need colour on my face, especially when performing! I normally use a lip tint as a base, and then something softer on top. So when I am about to play I just wipe off the soft layer (might be just a lip balm) and no colour will come off on my recorders. And I still look some what nice :D
@@Team_Recorder oh. For some reason YT shows a 13 year old video of you, and I was going to say not only did you produce hundreds of nice videos, you also managed to not only flame back but also outlast TwoSet Violin, apparently they stopped. Thank you for sticking to it!
@@mirabilos ah that’s true - I had YT for a few years before but used it just as a place to put performance videos. My first ‘youtube tutorial’ aka Team Recorder was Dec 2015!
As a non-cross-dressing male, my main concern with unwanted goobies in my instruments relates to food, and I'm pretty particular about my particulates. I won't play after eating unless I've cleaned my teeth first, even if it means carrying a toothbrush and toothpaste around with me to gigs. My other life-long practice is to wash my mouthpieces out after every playing session - without fail - with tap water. This alone saves a ton of wear and tear on keypads and toneholes. And my pull-throughs look merely a bit disreputable instead of like a collection of biohazard samples.
I am an amateur recorder player so I am not performing on stage but after this video I am motivated to wear a lipstick not only while I am playing but also during my daily life as well 🤣
My favorite maple soprano does have a faint pink tint on the outside of the block from lipstick, but I wear a very deep red lip color when performing, so all in all it's still not been much transfer over the years! My fave is Revlon Colorstay Overtime lip stain. It claims to last 16 hours, and it will if you don't eat anything greasy. Just don't use the gloss topper, only use the matte side, and it's fantastic. I find it stays put even better than NYX, which is my second fave
I love wearing lipsticks and I wear them while I play the recorder. Here in Brazil, the best lipsticks, in my opinion, are the Avon lipsticks from the Power Stay line. They don't stain at all.
I wore makeup when performing on stage, that was an absolute must. However, when performing I do not (mid-50s male here). I’m unusually in a nice pair of slacks and a button down shirt. If the part calls for it, I will wear jeans while performing.
I am also a ghost and love lipstick, just not on me. Looks lovely on you and now I know how you can wear it while playing. Thought I better help your algorithm since your videos are always so much fun
I'm not prone to wearing lipstick, but I do apply lip balm multiple times a day. I guess I will have to make sure I'm not getting any on the mouthpiece of my recorder. It is definitely not a thing I worry about while playing strings or percussion!
Quick question, what about submerging your Recorders in green/black tea? Is it a good idea for reducing condensation or should I stick to soap instead? I am referring to plastic Recorders and not wooden ones 💀
I wear lipstick with my plastic recorders😂, made note of the matt lipsticks and I do have lip pencils. I wear lipstick with my clarinet- just get lippy on my reeds, clarinet survives!
Good question! I don’t think lipstick would be a good idea at all for a reed instrument. I also borrowed oboes for the video, so I’d never wear lipstick with a borrowed instrument anyway!
I was wondering if you have reviewed any of the super cheap wooden recorders available on Thomann -- some cost well below €100, in the range of the plastic Yamaha baroque recorders, and wondering if they're worth trying out
@@Team_Recorder it was! if you ever have the chance, try a pure red eyeliner or eyeshadow, or a golden/copper. I have your eye colour (sage green) and they were spectacular.

I don't want this to come across like I'm saying you look better without lipstick or anything like that, and I fully agree with you that you should wear whatever makeup you want. That said! I do think you pull off not wearing any lipstick too, you're not as ghostly as you think!
