The more forward blush is youthful and “ cute”, the blush that is more toward the back is vey sultry, elegant, and mature. I like both for different reasons and at different times.
Makeup Junky some people just don’t look good with blush on the cheeks and visa versa. And then there’s the lucky people that can wear it both ways and look gorgeous. I am not one of those people 😐😉
So true! No wonder I usually apply blush more on the side of my cheeks. I have a rounder face and I look pretty young for my age so I really don't like applying blush on the apples on my cheeks 😂
Super interesting!!! As a “no longer in my youth” woman I have seen makeup trends come and go. In the late 80s/early 90s we were all instructed to put our blush on the upper part of our cheekbones. Now - we hadn’t invented blending yet - so it wasn’t as pretty - but it was basically that same idea!
I've been wearing my blush like this because I have a wide as well as round face, so doing that has not only accentuated my cheekbones, but also taken off some of the wideness. Like it elongates my face instead.
I love that style I just dont know if it suits a European face structure... I have a similat bone structure to Alex and I noticed that just like she says, outside edges of the face are better to apply the blush for me... but first I apply 2 brushes of bronzer.
Burn chicken nugget, I used to like Tati only for her excessive vanity and spending because no one is as self obsessed as she is and she’s tried every product so I used to go to her for product information but basically she only promotes people who pay her now. She didn’t have the slightest of a problem with James Charles’ lifestyle until he didn’t support her product and as a grown woman she was trying to talk crap about a guy half her age and his mom.. that’s when I stopped watching her. Now everyone sees both sides and she’s loosing viewers aka money she’s suddenly “sorry” and trying to fake tears in a really awkward, pathetic way so she doesn’t seem like as huge of a bitch as she is.
@@cyntax4901 Okay I might be missing some few points but basically: the drama between James Charles and Tati blew up again now and people are suspecting it has to do with Shane and Jeffree manipulating Tati. Shane wrote a statement that he thinks James needs "a humble pie" and recorded an apology video. Shane has been accused again of being racist & ped*philia and even Jaden Smith tweeted how disgusted he is (because it involves Jaden Smith's sister). Tati recently uploaded a video of why she was mad at James in the 2019 drama, when Shane knows this, he went on live, calling her "manipulative" and that he can't believe she is saying. Though, there are many youtubers who has also been exposing Jeffree of wanting to see James fall/get cancelled. So, in my opinion what Tati said is true and makes sense that Jeffree and Shane was gaslighting her. Jeffree still remains silent as for now and I doubt he's going to say anything lol. That's all I know or remember, at least lol I hope this helps 😳 also sorry it's too long lmaoo, have a nice day🌸

Up until very recently at the age of 34 I didn't know that I had lived my life in a state of depersonalization. Pretty severe one. I thought that's how everyone experienced life. I've been able to understand why certain things having to do with the structure and proportions of my face and body in general have been so impossible for me. I don't hate my body so I wouldn't call it body dysmorphia I guess but, I do not understand it. I use it well enough, but when it comes down to how something will fit me or what shades would look good on me, it's like there's just nothing there. I got nothing going on up there. So these videos are so incredibly helpful, thank you so so much. I don't know that when you made them you considered they would actually help people with chronic mental conditions but, here we are. I'm also on the spectrum and your calm demeanor is much appreciated. Guys need a little bit of touch up too tho~ just a bit. Put a lot and you'd be called gay. Put too much and you'd be called a drag. But really there's nothing wrong with trying it out sometimes. Just a glow up and not looking like you're so stressed. XD Even using a bit of chapstick - some guys tell you it's gay, but avoiding cracked and chapped lips is better. Besides, there are girls/women who likes a man whom they can turn to and ask opinions/brainstorm with to level up their looks. So there is definitely nothing wrong with learning a bit about make ups~
Wow!!! It's amazing how simply adding a bit more closer to her under eye area changed the whole look!!! That side instantly looked like an adorable baby doll!!! So cool.
People who know what they’re doing: placing the blush here adds a certain effect to the face, and placing it here adds a completely different one! Me: reeheheehe cheeky *_PINK_*
Some makeup artist once said that there is no need to use a contour, you just need to apply the blush right. Totally truth, done this way since the beginning :)
That explains why I never liked heavy contour on my face . I love some cream blush if I contour for like a wedding it light contour all the way where she put the blush . Adds depth.
Amen haha My face cannot be contoured, like its just not possible for me. Every time I do it or someone else does it, it ends up looking bad, but I can get a similar lifted and sculpted look using blush.
This is EXACTLY how my blush journey went. I do the exact same thing, and it really makes a difference. Your face shape and eyes are very similar to mine, at first I was actually sort of weirded out by how similar we look. What is super awesome is that now there is a RUclipsr who I can get tips from that will benefit me 99% of the time! It's pretty neat. Plus you're super cool. Thanks for all the great videos!
I'm ultra fair and have mild rosacea that's almost closer to what a berry-toned blush would give and it just sort of looks like inflammation. So I cover it all up with concealer and apply a pale peachy blush a bit higher on my cheekbones, and weirdly enough it actually comes out looking more natural.
I'm 58 and have been using blush since 16. The higher placement is everything and I've always done it that way. It really does accentuate bone structure.
No drama, no rambling, no bitching, no marketing, not trying to sell us anything, just an honest, straightforward, down to earth human being. Where have you been all our lives? Much love 🥰
Just found your channel and loving it. I love how you explain that this is the way *you* like to place blush, and not necessarily THE way. It's about discovering what makeup can do to your look and adopting your own "best". Weighing the pros and cons of placement without judgement is 10/10.
I've avoided blush my whole life because it never "looked right". I just started doing what you do about a week ago and then came across this video! I feel validated lol
I appreciate that when you do these videos you don't intentionally try to make one side "bad". Just show how 2 techniques genuinely create different looks.
@@abcdefgh6951 yeah we know that hehe. Makeup is an art and enhances our already existing beauty! Makes us feel good, confident and is therapeutic for some.
Yes!! the editorial look is so nice and different from the traditional blush placement, and thats how I do it when I have a fun blush to try out. I use blush on apple of cheeks sometimes under other products because yes, youthflow glow, but also yes, can look like the focus is too much on the center of the face and loses definition. Love this video and how you encourage ppl to creatively work with the face shape they have
Also more classical. I mean, when blush came into existence it was supposed to look like you are blushing. Hence the name 😅 Nobody blushes on their cheekbones but it looks very good also.
She is an absolute beauty!! it's hard for me to even focus on why she needs make up!! I'm in my early sixties & feel like I need so much more than this, but I will practice her techniques.. Make the world a beautiful place.🌸
I used to HATE blush on myself until I started placing it in an actually flattering way (having rosy lil' cheeks and severe resting bitch face just don't mesh well man 🤔).
Same! 😂 I am also pasty white and when I apply blush, my friends tell me that I look like Lestat in Interview with a vampire: trying to fool people I am alive but actually being dead inside.
THANK YOU for being so direct, down to earth, and chill, not loud, bubbly or perky, no excessive pointless chatter. No lead in high pitched “HI GUYS!” with a massive phony grin and life story. Wow this is so incredibly refreshing. I can actually sit through this and learn without gritting my teeth. Bless.
I really like your preference area for blush - it's much edgier and "high fashion" as you said... but in a way, it also looks more like where a bruise would be found (along the bone structure), rather than an area that would naturally blush with healthy blood flow (the muscle of the cheek)... so as you said after looking at it here, I'm not sure which I would prefer, actually.
watched this isaac dude on tiktok recreate this vid almost word for word. lowkey v sick of men taking womens' content and passing it off as their own, idk just didnt sit right with me.
when she put the blush on the second way i screamed cause holy shit girl that CHEEKBONE YES. i have the same face shape so im def gonna put my blush there from now on
I have an oval face so I prefer to apply my makeup to look more “cute” and “youthful” since naturally I feel that oval faces tend to look more mature. So for me it gives me that good balance of mature/youthful.
Waterbaby Oxox yea If you have a face like that (me too) place your blush where she put hers (not the cheekbone placement) and you’ll look more younger and cuter. Doing blush like the other side gives a more chiseled, defined look but I prefer to look like those anime girls lol
I love this! I have a thin, long face with small high (barely visible) cheekbones. Learning that cheeks are not the same as cheekbones made a huge difference for me. Everyone always said to put blush on my cheeks, but it dragged my face or pulled the attention towards the center and I looked like a mime. I noticed this style works much better!
It's like you had an epiphany while applying blush this morning and immediately dropped everything to film this knowledge like "holy shit the world doesnt know what it's missing."
I remember Wayne Goss sharing this technique many moons ago. He also said that as we get older, we definitely need to keep blush to the outside perimetres only unless we want to drag our faces down... xXx 😎🖤🖤🖤
his issue with putting it on the apples of the cheek was that people apply their blush while smiling, so the face drops when not smiling. however he did echo the higher placement like makeupbyariel (?) in a different video.
@@SuShiiAeLin ruclips.net/video/QkAR4enrCW4/видео.html (This was the amazing video by Wayne Goss, I assume this is the one everbody is referring to, at least this was the life changing one for me!)
The cheek "youthful" side really reminds me of Natalie Portman, or someone who is happy and fresh from playing in the snow. The cheekbone "high-fashion" side feels more dramatic and runway model or edgy and maybe with a tiny nod to the 80s. I like both and can really see how someone's style, personality, and bone structure could determine which of the two suits them more. I love the simplicity of this video, that it focuses on simply comparing two very simple techniques and would love to see more makeup videos that simple like say 2-4 styles of lashes or something.
Bro I started to read this comment just as she was turning her face to look at the youthful side and I legit thought "oh at this angle with that blush she looks like Padmé" and then I saw that you said Natalie Portman and now I'm a little worried that you're reading my mind 😂👽
4 года назад
Exactly! I have been doing it differently depending on what I want with my makeup. If I want a more modern effect I do the "high fashion" and if I want a more dreamy/fairy tale vibe I do the youthful.
As someone who was obsessed with korean makeup in high school, and then obsessed with more mature looking makeup in my 20’s, I agree. The blush that goes on the apples of your cheek looks more cutesy and can also look beachy and natural if you use a rose colored blush and add a bit on the bridge of your nose. It looks sunkissed.
I first noticed this “technique” when I was customizing my animoji but then I thought I was hallucinating, thank you for showing me this on a real face. you just gained a subscriber
I personally do the "youthful" one, and I actually think it does that for me too, gives me a more natural rosy cheek look. Like when you’re 12 and just ran around outside, you’re winded, your dewy, life is good and the world isn’t burning to the ground
Ha, I'm 12. I just red tomato red when I run. Also life isn't good, since there's something called COVID-19! I'm sure we have a lot less problems than adults though.
I find the lower placement sofens your face making it look more natural. As thats where you would naturally blush. The higher one makes it look more strong and severe which is the look you are going for! Either way, you look great.
Here's the thing: I didn't have sisters, my mom didn't really wear makeup, my friends aren't really makeup people and the one that was was goth. So this was amazing, nice and thorough, to the point, everything was amazing and I wish I had this in high school. Thank you!
I don't get this comment, having sisters doesn't automatically mean they would of been good at makeup or even been able to teach you? 🤨 Why is does this need to be a sterotypical thing. And why would it be a mothers job to teach you makeup anyhow?
Makeup, like any art ... Practice makes perfect. The more familiar you get with makeup to better you understand the POWER of it. I am a man with 7 sisters and I self taught myself thru RUclips videos. Now i do all of my sisters makeup lol. I just follow the rules of drama. You want Insta brows, you need lashes. You do lashes you need shadow n concealer. You do concealer, you need foundation n contour You do that, might as well use lip stick.... Basically if you are gonna use makeup then USE MAKEUP! the whole 100 yards lol (I'm a Patrick Starr applier circa 2017 lol)

The more forward blush is youthful and “ cute”, the blush that is more toward the back is vey sultry, elegant, and mature. I like both for different reasons and at different times.
I like the one on the apples of the cheeks way more personally.
Yes, I was just thinking why pick just one when now you can have options?
@@LindaJohnson-rf7kz omg i thought i was the only one who looks awful with blush on cheeks
3wrss3ssss444r3e4ßssss😊
E-girls cracked the code: just put blush everywhere.
Sorry, that’s no code. We all did that in the 80’s.

I love the drunk blush. I think it looks cute.
I love that style I just dont know if it suits a European face structure... I have a similat bone structure to Alex and I noticed that just like she says, outside edges of the face are better to apply the blush for me... but first I apply 2 brushes of bronzer.

I like how youtube is recommending the unproblematic youtubers during the recent tati, shane Dawson and jeffree star drama
Ah, so that explains all the cool stuff popping up. Awesome! The signal thru the noise 👍👍
What happened? Im reaaally lost in all of that controversy
Can someone explain the drama :b
Is just that the tea videos are waaaayyy to long
Burn chicken nugget, I used to like Tati only for her excessive vanity and spending because no one is as self obsessed as she is and she’s tried every product so I used to go to her for product information but basically she only promotes people who pay her now.

Until this one gets famous and joins the others
Some makeup artist once said that there is no need to use a contour, you just need to apply the blush right. Totally truth, done this way since the beginning :)
I 100% stand by that, I have a diamond shaped face and doing contour in that area is not a cute look
That explains why I never liked heavy contour on my face . I love some cream blush if I contour for like a wedding it light contour all the way where she put the blush . Adds depth.

My face cannot be contoured, like its just not possible for me. Every time I do it or someone else does it, it ends up looking bad, but I can get a similar lifted and sculpted look using blush.

Wayne Goss has a great video on how to place blush for your face shape & cheekbones

Exactly! I have been doing it differently depending on what I want with my makeup. If I want a more modern effect I do the "high fashion" and if I want a more dreamy/fairy tale vibe I do the youthful.
While the other part of the beauty community is going down let’s learn about actual helpful stuff
Yeah, agree! Also, the quality of this video is great. Wonder which camera she uses?
As someone who was obsessed with korean makeup in high school, and then obsessed with more mature looking makeup in my 20’s, I agree. The blush that goes on the apples of your cheek looks more cutesy and can also look beachy and natural if you use a rose colored blush and add a bit on the bridge of your nose. It looks sunkissed.
