As infamous as he is, and as much as people think they know about Andy Dick. There’s still a famous misconception about him. You hear a lot of people say that he turns into a nightmare when he drinks, and that’s what leads him to expose himself or sexually assault people….. he does that sober plenty of times. He’s not an alcoholic who turns into a sexual predator, he’s a sexual predator that also has a drinking problem.

I don't know him almost at all, but it's obvious that alcohol doesn't turn people into something, it just removes their filters. That being said, not every person who behaves badly under influence has to be bad when their conscience and full awareness is active - we all have some animal aggresion and sexual drive that can be revealed when substances turn off parts of our minds. And I'm not sure how well you know him, but chances are we've pretty much never really seen him sober. :( Anyway, there have to be consequences for damaging behavior, no matter if caused by a person's nature or substance abuse, so I gues the result is the same.

about nine years back, at an afterhours spot in Hollywood, we were playing poker and partying. Andy Dick got suuuuuper high and started picking on an "up-an-coming" rapper who had to be in his mid-thirties. He overheard him talking to other people about his mixtape and it set him off. To provoke this fellow, he had the bright idea to follow him around and call him a "fake rapper" and then use the hard-r to describe and trash this dude. After getting the shit kicked out of him, he then turns to me with his bloodied face, looks me dead in the eye and says "Well, he's a wannabe. What a n*****, right?" Mind you, I'm black af, and so was my security and another member of his entourage (mixed with filip). This is when I was like, "Oh he's crazy-crazy," and Nope'd tf out of there so fast! He ended up calling the police and getting the spot raided. Facebook memories reminds me about this night every couple of years haha

I worked at a sex offender's unit for kids to adults in Indiana, and I went through all the patients files and 99% of them were all abused themselves and are part of a cycle. I learned that ppl who abuse others tend to have been abused themselves. You can not agree with someone for something wrong they do, but still have empathy for them as well. I personally have never met a sex offender that wasn't abused themselves as a child. Usually they believe that it's normal and something everyone deals with until they get older. Being said, you can feel empathy for someone and still understand what they're doing is wrong.

Around 2007 one of my best friends in LA worked at a Sushi place called Edo in Woodland Hills. They would close after lunch to prepare the dinner menu items. She would from time to to invite me to have lunch with her at the restaurant. One day I stop by and Andy Dick was having sushi with a young lady. I asked my friend why he was still there after they had closed for lunch and she said he's a regular and the owners treat him as a loyalty customer. As I'm following my friend through the main dining area I have to pass through a hall to get to the back, and Andy is sitting next to the hall. As I'm walking by him he turns around and smacks my ass calling me handsome. I immediately grabbed him by his shirt and lifted him out of the chair but my friend grabbed my arms and pulled me off of him. He was laughing the entire time. My friend took me out through the back and tried to talk me down from going back in. Needless to say, I never liked him after that. You don't do something like that to a total stranger.

What surprises me is that nobody talks about Andy Dick pulling a dude off a bar stool as he walked off stage at the Pamela Anderson roast.
Behind the deus are table and bar stools with guests as filler. The guy on the left side of the route off stage is just sitting when Andy Dick walks by, hooks his arm around the dude's neck and decks him. The guy slams straight to his back and Andy just walks away. Nobody acknowledges it and it cuts to the host introducing the next roaster. At 12:42 you see him walk away and raise his arm, as he is about the take the guy down. The dude might've been Pamela's boyfriend at the time, who is sitting in that backrow and gets called "filler" by Andy.
It is the weirdest shit but I think it got pushed out of the spotlight by what Andy did as his skit. It was so far out of line, it felt like nobody knew what to do.

I saw Andy Dick twice in concert back around 2001 in LA. He was performing in his band called Andy Dick & The Bitches of the Century. Super entertaining, theatrical shows. I don't think many people know this, but his band released 2 music albums (that are very "Andy Dick-ish", of course). He actually has a collection of some great, catchy songs that he sings. Definitely worth a listen. I hope he gets his act together.

He probably won't... Sadly. He is in his 50s and is still sailing down the same road he was in his 20s. 30+ years of drug and alcohol addiction is rarely overcome.

i first met Andy Dick (what an apt name!) when he started in standup comedy, i was emceeing an open mic at LA Cabaret in SF Valley, late mid 80's, he 'performed' (if you could call it that) several times, he was one of the most unpleasant individuals i ever dealt with, i emceed another spot in Westwood where he pulled the same shit... i admit to quite a bit of schadenfreude regarding all his continuous travails and troubles... for this reason (that i absolutely despise Andy Dick!) i will NOT watch this vid, but have given a thumbs up, #123 (i love what you guys do and am a subscriber!)

Haven't actually watched this due to the subject, the Phil Hartman thing was the line for me.
I'm sure i don't care for some of the stunts he's pulled the past decade or so but i read about the insident with him and jon lovitz a couple years ago and it just made me appreciate lovitz that much more and utterly stop caring about andy dick.
If he died tomorrow i would just laugh and it really bums me out that he had a kid and passed down his garbage dna. Hopefully the kid doesn't turn into a total shithead and sad joke like his father.

I can see where he comes from with his demons, he’s totally lost touch. He’s never got help for his mental illness. I hope he can get help someday. He’s seems like a sad clown, and it simply makes me wanna hug him and wish him to get well. I just wish he could keep his dick and his tongue to himself.

It's one thing when when your addictions damages himself, but it is quite another when just being in his orbit leaves somebody at risk of being groped and molested. It's not a funny thing to have him try to make free use of other people's bodies -- FREQUENTLY. It's just so violating and people who know what it's like to have to be frequently on guard for their personal safety aren't going to be so eager to hand out second chances to a repeat offender.

Other than the odd tabloid gossip the only things I knew about Andy Dick were that he was hilarious as Matthew on NewsRadio, that on the show Less Then Perfect he played almost exactly the same character, and that the South Park song Christmastime in Hell name-checked him as someone Hell had reserved a spot for.
As a flawed person myself I could almost admire Andy if he refused to repent and reform; but if he's merely unable to do so, he's just pitiable.
I still enjoy the NewsRadio DVD boxed set. And thanks to Joe Rogan, Dick isn't even the worst person to come from that show. And thanks to Vicki Lewis, he isn't the sexiest.

Because of my avatar, people in the comments often think I’m a man. I’m a woman and I’m very underweight. I’m still flabbergasted that I’m alive. But I doubt it’s ever gonna happen. I divorced an addict on that level. These people don’t really get better after a certain point, and especially with the ability to go out and make like a 6 figure payday any time he can pull his shit together for 3 days on a movie set
