I first saw Matthew Lillard in Thirteen Ghosts, you didn't speak enough about his part in that so I will. Matthew's character was Dennis Rafkin who is a psychic and helped Cyrus capture the ghosts, and by 'helped' I mean basically did all the work. So even though he wasn't in the movie as much as some of the other actors, he was one of the most important characters.
Funnily enough, I asked myself this very question after rewatching the original Scream last week. Good to know y'all were on the ball reading my mind and giving me the answers I needed.
I really like this guy. I always thought he'd become a leading man, but he found a really cool niche nobody saw coming. He's so perfectly Shaggy that it's like something he was born to do.
Not yet watched, but as a ML fangirl who bought every VHS he was in (included If These Walls Could Talk where had one line), I clicked this video so quick 😅
Im so glad to hear he took over Shaggy. He really brought one of my favorite cartoons to life. The rest of the cast was overshadowed by his believability.
One of the big things he does nowadays is he is part of the company Beadle & Grimm with several of his friends making high quality collector boxes for Dungeons & Dragons and other TTRPG games. He's done some celebrity D&D chaity games and played Van Richten in the Realmsmith live play of the Curse of Strahd campaign. Matthew's still got the talent and charm as he plays with a group of gamers as the famed monster hunter NPC. I seriously enjoyed him in that and look forward to whenever they can have him on again.
I met him once I got to hear the shaggy voice in person, he played with my dads beard and messed with my sisters pink hair it was amazing he’s so great and his hugs are amazing ❤

There is a movie Mount Rushmore of perfect movie castings and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy is absolutely the first face on it!
I love the Scream & Scooby Doo franchises & it was sweet watching him interact with that little girl.
The Matthew Lilliard biopic-video I never imagined I'd see someday. I always like seeing him on screen.
Has anyone ever said a bad thing about him? I think not. He's so likable and those who have worked with him talk so highly about how professional and nice he is. Especially for new actors who work with him. The way Dax Shepard speaks of him warms my heart.
You kidding right? He is annoying, overact can play ONE role. Understandable we dont see him anymore tbh.
@@crooster1 right there with you. Can't stand that guy. I'd rather watch Freddie Prinz Jr act....eeesh
@@crooster1 cracks me up all the praise he s getting here in comments, he s one of the worst actors ever, always overacting, not surprised at all nobody hires him anymore
@@stanleykubik1778 overacting is very much not a thing. And Matthew is going to be William Afton so I wouldn’t say he’s not getting cast…
Underrated treasured actor that seemed to be in a happy spot as shaggy. Miss him and hope he gets a comeback
Wait, no mention of him being in the new Twin Peaks series???? That ok, shout to Matthew Lillard being the most successful person from Scream…second only to Courtney Cox, and I’d say that’s debatable. So proud of him.
Without a Paddle will always be a favourite comedy of mine. 3 leads, 3 different comedic styles that worked so well together… and yeah, that rainy cave scene is worth watching the whole movie for 😂 I’ve tried to describe it to people, and it’s hard to make it sound interesting or funny, but if you watch it, you get it lol
But my baaaaahhhhdyyyy.
My baaaaaaahhhdyyyy, is tellin me yeeeeeeeeahhh!
Matthew Lillard gave me a hug at a Q&A. He is a national treasure!
good for you
I know it's silly, but knowing that he's doing just fine... It's reassuring you know? I'm happy for him. 😊
Not gonna lie I think his most underrated and really fucking fun movies are "Without paddle" (2004), The perfect Score (2004) and "She is all that" (1999) he was hilarious and great in those flicks. Especially "Without a paddle" is a hilarious gem of a movie, Seth green was also funny as always
He has such a great role in Good Girls!! I was so excited when he appeared on screen! I adore him and I hope he does more TV roles (especially on a streaming sight) as well as movies! He’s truly an inspiration to a generation, and even future ones. I wasn’t born until 97 and I have seen nearly all his roles. I hope for his continued success!
He is such a dope actor he never gives up even if he was in some bad movies. And i am glad he enjoys being shaggy and not be embrassed by it.
He's also amazing in his small roll in Twin Peaks the Return
I first saw Matthew Lillard in Thirteen Ghosts, you didn't speak enough about his part in that so I will. Matthew's character was Dennis Rafkin who is a psychic and helped Cyrus capture the ghosts, and by 'helped' I mean basically did all the work. So even though he wasn't in the movie as much as some of the other actors, he was one of the most important characters.
I just want to give him a hug lol. That dude was a quintessential part of my childhood in the 90’s
Funnily enough, I asked myself this very question after rewatching the original Scream last week. Good to know y'all were on the ball reading my mind and giving me the answers I needed.
He always comes back
Scream was honestly my first time seeing Matthew Lillard and I had Scooby-Doo on VHS.
He’s a solid actor, I think if something like what happened to Brendan Fraser happened to him, people would rally around him the same way.
I really like this guy. I always thought he'd become a leading man, but he found a really cool niche nobody saw coming. He's so perfectly Shaggy that it's like something he was born to do.
He did amazing in the fnaf movie giving his boyish charm as Steve raglan but that threatening tone when he is William /springtrap
I always associate Matthew Lillard with Freddie Prinze Jr. They were like the Corey Haim and Corey Feldman of the late 90's/Early 2000's.
When I worked at Best Buy in Pasadena, he was one of our regular customers. Really humble and nice
I love him. He is an exciting screen presence and I'll watch him in anything. He elevates some of the most mediocre of projects.
SLC Punk!!! That movie alone makes Mathew one of my favorite actors. And Without Limits is a great movie too.
He was great as Christina Hendricks' husband in the TV series "Good Girls". He's talented and so underrated
So glad you included that clip with him meeting the fan, it’s so adorable 🥰
I hated everyone for constantly telling me to watch SLC
Now I watch it at least once a year
Not yet watched, but as a ML fangirl who bought every VHS he was in (included If These Walls Could Talk where had one line), I clicked this video so quick 😅
Without a paddle is one of my favourites. It's super rewarchable. Lillard delivered a great performance there too.
Lillard is great! Highly underrated. I LOVED HIM IN 13 GHOST.
Mathew Lillard is one of those few actors that can make a terrible movie great definitely one of the best underrated actors out there
Ever since I saw his performance in hackers I’ve been a huge fan and always get excited to see him in tv and movies.
Love him as Stu from Scream would’ve love to see him return for a sequel and I love him as Shaggy Rogers
Dude. Matthew was Afton well before he was Afton. Truly "I always come back!" Showing up in Scream, Scream 2 and Scream 5. Lmfao
Lillard needs an Oscar between his performances in SLC Punk and Match alone.
SLC Punk was one of my favorite movies when I was a teenager. Still have a DVD copy.. and _possibly_ a VHS copy at my moms house. Lol
I love Scooby Doo movies as a child. Matthew Lillard killed it playing Shaggy.
He is like Sam Rockwell. Regardless of the films quality their acting is always great.
I met him once I got to hear the shaggy voice in person, he played with my dads beard and messed with my sisters pink hair it was amazing he’s so great and his hugs are amazing ❤
I think his multiple appearance in TV series: Bosch as a double agent is dope, his acting really maintained.
I was going to mention this, he nailed that role
@@Levorthian mentioned regarding Bosch, Lance Solomon Reddick recently passed away.... R.I.P
Seeing him in the FNAF movie was sick! He played such an insane role and the acting was top-notch
Yeasss it was like he was so good 😊 like I ❤️ lovedddddddddddddd 🥰 him
The 2000s kids grew up with shaggy matthew
*2023 KIDS GREW UP WITH WILLIAM AFTON MATTHEW*
