  • West Nile Virus is a relatively new virus. It was first detected in the early 20th century, and it made it over to North America quite mysteriously in 1999. It is spread by mosquitos and can have some pretty serious effects, so let's learn about this now.

I was unfortunate enough to contract this in England in 1992; it gave me most of the described symptoms, including spasms and muscle wastage in my legs. Luckily, I was able to fight it off after a few weeks. The only reason I know that I had West Nile was from blood tests taken and processed at the hospital I stayed at. I still have occasional tremors in my hands to this day.

Why did you choose WNV? We had an outbreak here in Seville, Spain last summer. Watch out for stagnant water! Old tires collecting water are especially bad.

Please do a video on the Dengue virus. I would like to learn from you about this. The virus has affected my family in the Sierra Madre Mountain in Central Mexico.

My dad died from West Nile a few years ago during an outbreak in California. He thought it was just a flu. He knew if he went to the hospital it could bankrupt him. He only had one more year until he'd qualify for Medicare. So he decided to tough it out rather than risk financial ruin.

I read somewhere that the German colonials in that area encountered an unknown disease causing similar symptoms in the time around 1900.

I watch all your videos but struggle to understand some of the words as this is the first virus video of yours I have watched.
Could you link similar videos / background ones that you have made instead of / as well as the playlists in the description please?

Tom, scientists study prions. They know a lot about them. You sound exactly like the saps that say that viruses aren't real. Not everything is a conspiracy. Get a clue.

I got it in 2002. Literally made me bed ridden. I still feel the after effects of it to this day. West Nile can certainly wreck havoc on the nervous system.

Horses are worth more than people. Not that surprising really, they can make you more money than any reasonable person would allow. All the things people say they are or believe in, yet this is a fact. Beam me up ... :)
