I learnt that Balady is 4 counts and Masmoudi Saghir 8 counts. Nice combinations as always!

Sorry that I chime in, but no..... Masmoudi Sahir is 4 counts and also nicknamed as "Baladi", sahir means short in Arabic. Masmoudi Kabir is 8 counts and kabir means long in Arabic. Masmoudi Kabir has way too many variations, including the 3 Dums (DDD takataka D takaka). The usual Masmoudi Kabir is with 2 Dums in the beginning.

Masmudi saghir IS the baladi rhythm and it is a 4 count rhythm. Maybe you got it mixed with Masmudi Kabir which has the same amount of DUMs and TAKs but it's "longer" - that is 8 counts. Both of them have DUM-DUM-TAK-DUM-TAK pattern but the accents are located differently in time ;)

@@TahiraBellyDanceDiary Thank you, I thought that I could ask an Arabic drummer to be 100% sure.

@@sandracarli1110 for 100% Arabic drummer will say the exact same thing ;) But it's good you search and ask - this is the best way to learn and evolve :)

@@TahiraBellyDanceDiary Yes, sorry. I really can't accept that these two rhythms are the same :D I remember having seeing it and I need a double proof.
