Just wanted to say thank you for your videos, so happy I found your channel. I’m about two weeks in and I’ve really been enjoying learning how to belly dance. It’s a real challenge physically but very relaxing and fun. I’ve been setting aside a half hour each morning for practice, I’m not all that good but I’m excited to improve ❤️
I'm so glad I found your channel!!I am verrrry new to this and having a hard time following completely while I get used to these movements, but it is so much fun so I know that I will be keeping up with it and getting better as time goes! Who knew how rythmic my hips were!?!?!?! You are a wonderful teacher, I absolutely love your explanations as they are perfect to get the body posture correct, and such great vibes girl!
Awww I'm so happy. This is what belly dancing did for me too! There's more beginner videos on my channel, and also a full library here: dance.bellymotions.com
I have a question about the twist! It might be obvious but I want to make sure I do it right. When I twist my body slowly, there is more control - of course! - so my upper body doesn't move much. But when I let go and I have to twist continuously, does the upper body follow up and move as well (without conscious movement from me)? Thank you, Portia! Sending you big hugs and lots of love! 🤗💖💃
Hi Zena and my apologies for missing your very good question! Yes, the upper body will move a bit from momentum You want to use your arms to counter balance your hip movement as you twist and to help control the upper body so the hips can shine! Hope this helps!
