  • Marlin Trucking and Logging, winter 2024 cutting hardwood saw logs. This bush is mostly maple. We were cutting by hand and skidding with a John Deere 748. This was originally a grapple skidder but is set up now to be used as a cable skidder. This machine is extremely powerful, it breaks chokers and bells without even grunting. There is some footage from another tornado cleanup job using a John Deere 648 Grapple Skidder as well. Near the end of the video there is some jake brake action shots of the Cat powered tri-drive Freightliner log truck. This is located in Hastings County, Ontario

Those are good type of choker sliders you are use but you got them backwards on your mainline hard on the mainline next time time the mainline breaks flip them so open side with the pin is facing the skidder lot less wear on the mainline

Yes they ended up backwards, the day before we changed the mainline and didn’t realize they were directional. Found out the hard way… They’re on the right way now so no more have broken. If a tree gets stuck behind a stump or rock the chokers just snap now lol

I hate to see tire chains that are loose you are wearing them out and costing your self money

Yes I agree, I have since tightened them and they’re nice and snug now. We were trying to beat the warm weather and finish that bush while there was still snow on the ground
