International 4900 PTO Wont Engage
I bought a dump truck that wouldn't dump. The truck is a 1998 or 1999 International 4900 tandem with a DT466E and Allison automatic transmission. I used a test light to confirm there was power to the magnetic pull in coil that engages the PTO. After removing the coil and spool it was obvious it was defective and needed to be replaced. After re installing the replacement part the PTO engaged and functioned properly.

Replacing the drive motor fan on a gravely zero turn mower. One of the bolts holding the drive motor sheared off, causing the drive motor to shift. Changing a 30 Long Stroke Brake Chamber
1) The transmission has a filter. It needs to be changed. 2) Use actual CVT fluid. That Castrol ATF/CVT fluid is not good. Even Valvoline CVT fluid is better at $10/quart.
I am a landowner, that has some similiar toys to you guys. I am always on slopes a d hills in the skidder. Best advise I can give is spend $20 on a seatbelt on amazon and install. If you you roll that machine most likely you will live in the cab, but you would wish you had the $20 seatbelt as bouncing around in that cab would be brutal.

Castrol sucks
Buy an EV and miss out on all that “fun”
Those cars are trash my friend had one she had to sink $5,000 into having a new wiring harness started having that exact problem with the transmission she got rid of it and got a Jeep Grand Cherokee and loves it!
She'll be regretting that😂 I do this for a living... this shutter is nothing to what she's going to deal with😂 and if she had a harness put on for this issue then she got screwed
I mean, Ford did circle the problem! 😂😂😂
That transmission is done for you just wasting money on fluid for a burnt up transmission 💀
A little late for that. You're just wasting your time and money. They are just junk anymore. 😂😂❤
On a quiet night, you can hear a Ford rust.
You'd think after over 100 years they'd have gotten their shit together and figure it out...planned obsolescence
They did figure it out. They figured they wouldn't get rich if it didn't rust.
That's the main reason the went to aluminum in 2016 as it was cheaper than making it out of real steel.😅
That's typical for a car after roughly 10 years in New England. I scrapped my 94 camry in 2010 because of the rust. There was nothing mechanically wrong with the car at all. It ran great, AC worked, and everything, it just had no structural integrity...
@@chipdiamond5104 pretty sad that vehicles don’t last. It’s the same here in Ontario, some vehicles are scrap in as little as 10 years. You have to pressure wash the underside of a vehicle and oil spray it yearly if you want it to last
Show no Fear 😮
The reality is Ford has some of the best corrosion resistance going right now.

He bought a falsely advertised car...and he thinks we should take his advice?
I don't see anything wrong with the advice. simple drain and fill, do it all the time. thanks for watching. lol
Define "flush.". A flush is different than a drain/refill.
@@rogerhenry3481 I guess this would be a drain/refill. The term “flush” is commonly used when referring to changing transmission oil. But technically speaking it is indeed a drain and refill
Non-Honda fluid? RIP transmission
No way, since 1999 I use Valvoline ATF 25 years later CRV is going strong . I pull trailer with it , bricks , sand , stones . Uphill. Do you think Honda makes ATF ? Silly.
@tv1canada You tow with a 99 CRV? Silly
the fluid used here is fine. keep paying for oem if you want.

Was going to get a 2012 4th gen crv but after researching all the issues, I'm glad I got a 2011 3rd gen. My 2009 with 505 000km served us well.
@@Motorsportsgeek I kinda rushed into buying this without doing much research. I’ve owned Hondas in the past and they’ve always been great. This crv is still a good car but they definitely have a few flaws. I’m hoping it lasts me a while until I can buy something newer
@@ericbrinson9741 Yeh I also kinda rushed into the 2011 since it was garage kept and in such good condition but also fwd while my awd 2009 had rust holes in the frame. 2010+ honda started using low tension piston rings but luckily so far, mine doesn't burn oil. Just have to stay on top of those oil changes and prevent the rings from sticking. The 2012s+ also suffer from this on top of all the other issues.
@ the body on is quite clean, that’s the main reason I bought it. My variable timing actuator sticks sometimes on start up so it has the classic timing chain rattle too. Need to get at fixing that as well
Most newer transmissions have a learned shift reset function that scan tools can do. That reset may be of value here
Honda lost all value in the late 2000s
Yeah you're going to need hopes and dreams if you follow this guy's directions first off you only use OEM Honda fluids with Honda cars especially tranny fluid second you don't keep servicing the fluid like he's doing over and over no more than three times You're going to drain out too much clutch material third most definitely expect a shutter from the transmission if you keep using aftermarket fluid mixing with the internal OEM fluid that tranny is only draining out 40% fluid and he's mixing the two brands do not listen to this guy By the way all Hondas if they're all wheel drive will have a logo on the back of the car stating AWD you could also simply type the VIN number in in various places such as KBB
You make a good point about the clutch material but if the transmission needs it to prevent slippage, it's probably near the end of it's life.
Oem is the only way to do it properly
No, it's not. the fluid he is using is perfectly safe.
Honda fluid has the proper friction modifiers
Lol. Fool.
Honda may do it different, but most automatic transmissions have an oil filter that needs to be replaced when replacing the transmission fluid.
@@Allen-w9d from what I’ve seen on RUclips there is an oil filter but Honda says it doesn’t need to be changed as a regular maintenance item, unless there was a catastrophic failure.
@@ericbrinson9741 "@Allen-w9d from what I’ve seen on RUclips there is an oil filter but Honda says it doesn’t need to be changed as a regular maintenance item, unless there was a catastrophic failure." A lot oar manufacturers also say that their transmissions have "lifetime transmission oil" and does not ever need to be changed. All that means is that the oil will last until the transmission craters. Think about it. Do you change the oil filter when you change the oil in the engine? Of course you do. Why? Because engines wear and the filter takes those particulates out of the oil and if you do not replace it it will get plugged and the oil will bypass the filter and not be filtered. What will be the result of that? Transmissions also wear. That is what the filter is for. What happens over time? The filter gets plugged and oil bypasses the filter and the transmission craters. What did the oil look like when you changed it in the video? Did it look really dirty? It may be too late to save it but change the filter. Just like the engine, transmission filters need to be changed every time the transmission oil is changed. Or you could just start saving money to buy a new transmission because I can guarantee that will be done pretty soon if you do not.
ALWAYS use OEM Fluid for a Honda, it’s a known.
@@TheSchmed in a perfect world I’d 100% only use Honda fluid. I didn’t know if I was going to have to put a transmission in this after buying it and finding out it shuddered so bad. The closest Honda dealer is 40 mins away and I’m only home on weekends, the local parts store is 10. The fluid I bought was the proper stuff, and it wasn’t cheap by any means either. Considering the situation I was in, I made the judgement call to go with aftermarket. I’d like to know the science behind the fluids to be able to understand the difference between OEM and aftermarket.
maybe 10-20+ years ago that was known, synthetic fluids has come a long way. what he is using is perfectly fine and only $25/galon.
Ive been using that same fluid in my 2019 civic coupe ex-t since 20,000 miles. Im at 80,000 now. No issues. I also do a drain and fill once a year. Did both trans filters at 50k. @@ericbrinson9741
