Well said mate, but the fact that Mr Paice has to help raise money for something that is funded from the outrageous some extracted from UK citizens in the taxes paid by (almost) everyone in this country is frankly disgusting.
I witnessed DP play live at the Rose Palace in Pasadena CA in 1969 if my memory serves. This was a time when many bands were touring, and I witnessed dozens of them. LZ played the same venue contemporaneously with Purple, within a fortnight. I’ve been a drummer since before Ringo on Ed Sullivan. The level of accomplishment and professionalism exhibited by Blackmore, Lord and Paicey were truly mind boggling! It was difficult to speak for a spell after the show was over. The performance by LZ seemed like a garage band in comparison. I know some would like to shoot me down in flames for saying that, but that’s my opinion based upon careful observation. No egos out of control, just pure sonic magic! Thank you sir for your lifelong dedication and commitment to playing like no other in the hard rock arena. The fact that you’re still around when so many others have self destructed, is a testament to your strength of character and value to humanity. ❤
From Redlands... very cool story I can imagine both bands just tearing it up in SoCal '69 & pretty sure that Deep Purple was a better band some nights...
Saw both in 73 and Deep Purple was better band live. We all knew that. Dont let a phony aura fool you. Zeppelin was a much better studio band than Purple. But Purple owned the live stage in the 70s. Now Pagie even admitted that Blackmore was a better lead guitarist and could do things live he could only dream of. So take it from Pagie. He said it not me. I agreed with Pagie @kelvinwebber90
I heard a Q&A with him when the Perfect Strangers album came out. Someone asked him to the effect of why his drum playing was easy on the album. He responded like “it’s all hard for me”. Classy guy.
Ian, I still have the Premier Resonator kit (twin shells) I bought in 1974 in the colour Deep Purple. It was dedicated to you my favourite rock drummer. I hope the auction raises a goodly sum for the school.
Wow, an amazing opportunity to own a beautiful Pearl Masters kit owned by a drumming legend. My buddy just recently got a Masters kit and it's stunning. Saw you play in Perth with DP maybe 15 years ago Ian, amazing show!
My highest respect to Mr Ian Paice. Quiet but a deadly mighty fantastic drummer. Been admiring your skills since the 70’s. A beautiful man. Thank you Mr. Paice. Deep Purple ain’t totally complete without you.
Great luck with the auction Mr. Paice! Hope it raises a lot of money for the school. Much love from a long time fan of yours and Deep Purple! ❤ ROCK ON!!!
Ian, I have been listening your drumming for most than forty years. I deeply admire you. You are one of the greatests. With this decision you are showing us that you are a gentleman too.
You are a good man Ian. Helping out those less fortunate is what life should be all about. I hope someone with a lot of disposable cash can help you out and appreciate them. Good luck. Plz update us on how the school goes with it.
So nice of you to do this, both for the school, and us fans. I hope it generates lots for helping the school. Blessing Ian, you'll always be a star in my book.
Not a drummer (guitarist) but always a fan of your drumming! You've always been in my top 5. The others are Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, Nicko McBrain,Terri Bozzío, and you!!! You're a class act!
Hi Sir! Congratulations 🎉 from Bulgaria!I am one big fan of DP since fifty and more years! To you don't have comments, you are great!God bless you and your family!🎉❤😊
Thank you Ian Paice for the music. I will never forget the hard intelligent simplicity with this louring exactiness ( i am from Sweden, do not laugh) you know what I mean. 4 weeks earlier I was in my friends house and he put on a record called "In Rock" with a band called Deep Purple. Wow!!!. So with what I saved from before as a 12 year old I bought "Fireball". Still think this song and your drums and the rest of the band make happy music. I mean you. Lord and Glover; c´mon!!! Love from Sweden.
Maestro....onore a te .... grazie di esistere grazie per tutto quello che hai donato alla batteria e il rock .... Non smetterò mai di ringraziare i tuo fantastici genitori. Tvb ....un abbraccio...Peppe da napoli ❤.
The drum intro to " Come and get it " and the whole song, is just totally simple, but just really really swinging..........it really turned me on to Whitesnake and drumming. I got a walkman for Christmas 1982, and the " Come and Get it " casette..........I wore that tape completely out..........and you`re one of the greatest Rock drummers ever Sir.......I thank you for the inspiration..............and I salute you..........👍
Ned from Spain, a life long drummer and forever fan of yours Ian for 52 of my 62 years. I've learned a lot from your stellar playing but also admire your attitude and humanity. I hope the kit realizes the money that the school needs and that they can get more help in keeping it alive n healthy.
Beautiful idea, and a wonderful chance for a bit of rock n roll history!,Good luck to folks bidding! Totally out of a retired U.S. Army Veteran scope of money, but a wonderful idea to help the school! 🥁 🫡🇺🇲🦅
Thank you Ian, you are a classy gentleman you've always been one of my musician idols, you and Purple, thank you for what you're doing for the school. Blessings 🙌 🙏
From the states here…oh, if I could only participate! But I’m sure someone will blow any bid I can possibly offer out of the water…I wish you the best, you’ve been an inspiration since 1970 or so. I wish you great success…
Nice one Ian. You're a gentleman.. Such a wonderful thing for the kids and teachers of the school... Thanks for the inspiration on the drums since the 70's... God bless you.... 🙏
Wishing all the best for the school, teachers, and kids. My big sister turned me on to Purple in 73. You and Bonzo have been wonderful medicine and memories.:))
What an amazing gesture, I wish I had the money to buy this kit, I would've paid anything to own these drums. Ian you are not just an iconic drummer, you're a wonderful person ❤
Please , would be very happy to start the bidding, not sure I would be strong enough to finish but happy give you a good start. Good luck with the auction
Your A Stand Up Human Being for doing this ,we all know your a great drummer and we all loved all you've ever done done and now we applauded you for helping the school God Bless n stay healthy n alive peace bro from another drummer in Seattle
What a wonderful gesture and such a beautiful kit. It’s because of you I became a drummer long ago. I am now nearly 70. My wife now retired was primary school teacher for 40 years and knows the importance of early years and the financial pressures schools have to deal with. I hope you get a fabulous sale Thank you 🙏
I saw you at Madison Square Garden NYC in 1972 launching Machine Head. 52 years ago. LOL....we are both still alive can't believe it right? I never took my eyes off of you. You were awesome. Never forget it. Just loved your power house drum style. Be well my friend!
I am so happy to see you Mr Ian Paice and I love the video clip. It reminds me of the music days of Deep Purple. The lucky ones that will buy these drums will have keep them as a treasure because it will worth millions of dollars in future just like the music of Deep Purple. I think it was these drums that helped to produce the legendary musics of Deep Purple like SPEED KING, BLACK NIGHT, HARD LOVING MAN, FLIGHT OF THE RAT Etc. I love that. I wish you all the best of luck.
What a gentleman...I salute you, Sir, and whilst I'm at it, a deep thank you for Deep Purple, Knebworth '85, and Whitesnake, Donnington '83. Memories...
Mr. Paice, you are the greatest blues rock drummer ever to grace a live stage. And just so you know, Made in Japan is the greatest live rock album ever made. Your playing on that album is brilliant and unmatched by any drummer that played in a recorded live concert. Many years ago when I was a drum teacher, I would tell every one of my students: :"Do you want to learn how to be a great rock drummer? Listen to Made in Japan- Ian Paice is the dictionary, learn the words.
I'm so sold. BTW, I'm 60. I've been a fan for 52 years. I've heard every LP, but 7 or 8 of them I've heard a million times each. Right on, guy. You do you. Don't let anyone else tell ya otherwise. ❤❤❤
Hi Ian, because of you I play drum on my own. I can't afford this whole kit. Auction is going, off couse, higher than I can. I should have started to save money when I listened to you at 12 years old. I'm now soon 64. Long life.
Awesome to see the records from the classic and real lineup of Whitesnake. I saw Paice playing with Coverdale Lord and the rest of the guys in 1981. One of the best concerts ever.
Ian, Sir you are a Gentleman and a Scholar for helping a local school to you. I would love to own one of your kits, if only for bragging rights (I don't/can't play drums) but I hope this kit makes a lot of money for the school. PS, Sina has just released another Purple track (Child In Time) I guess it would make her day if you had a look at it.
Ian..I recall the story you told me about lending your neighbours son the Made in Japan kit and it was never seen again. And soon after you received a call from an American collector who offered you (I think)one million dollars for the kit.
Bought Deep Purple in Rock as a young teenager, (in the 60's) played it so much I had to buy another as it was wearing out, been hooked on "Purple" ever since
Very nice Ian. Back in the late 70s I had a 7-piece drum set set that I used for a steady club gig, and since the stage was small I arranged the mounted toms on the bass drum in a triangle formation with a modified tom holder. I thought it was interesting when many years later you also arranged your toms that way. I will take a serious look auction, but I wish I lived closer so I could pick up the kit in case I win. 😅 Although I should make a return trip to England to see where my Grandmother lived in South Hampton since I didn't have time to go there when we visited London and Europe in 2012. Good luck to you and Rock On!
always love mr paice's playing, i wish i could afford to bid a respectable offer. i hope whoever wins, is a true fan! (and so awesome that this is for charity!!!)
I play the drums for 10+ years. But recently l had to sell them because of COVID my house mate got very sick. I would luv to have these drums, though normally l play TAMA. It be an honour to play these drums an they will go to a good home. So l hope to bid on these drums, an bring them home to a drummers home where they will be luved an used to bring joy to others. Well done Sir Ian, l bow to thee.
Hi Ian. Deep Purple is one of my favourite bands of all time and part of the soundtrack of my life. Thanks for all the excellent music! You’re drumming is amazing! I couldn’t afford your drums for sale, but if you ever considered jamming out sometime to a new song with Deep Purple that I wrote and recorded on my last album that was inspired by Deep Purple, especially Jon Lord, and his Hammond Organ, I would definitely donate to your cause! Cheers. 🍻
Definitely one of the best drummers ever , wish I'd had half your talent, brilliant what your doing for your local school, would love to own one of your kits but I dont have enough money to deserve your cause, best of luck with it. One of my all time favourite tracks "Flight of the rat" . Well done Ian Paice
I have played drums for 20 years and Ian was my first inspiration when I first heard Deep Purple. The kit I have now is also Pearl. I wonder what he will ask for this kit?
Ian, you are one of the reasons I play drums. Thanks, sir, for the inspiration!!!

One of my all time favourite tracks "Flight of the rat" . Well done Ian Paice

Kind heart to do this.
very nice and thoughtful of you to do Ian.
I have played drums for 20 years and Ian was my first inspiration when I first heard Deep Purple. The kit I have now is also Pearl. I wonder what he will ask for this kit?
