- Zack Snyder is one of the most polarizing directors of the last 15 years. He's both loved and hated for his distinct style of film making. So today we're going to stop and rank all 11 Zack Snyder films from the worst to the best.
Zack Snyder Films to Rank
Dawn of the Dead Remake
300
Watchmen from the Alan Moore Graphic Novel
Legend of the Guardians The Owls of Ga'Hoole
Sucker Punch
Man of Steel
Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice
Zack Snyder's Justice League
Army of the Dead
Rebel Moon - Part One: The Child of Fire
Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver - Кино
I’ve always loved his Legend of the Guardians. It’ll always be a top 5 Snyder films for me
Same here I actually ended up liking it better than the book
Facts! 1. justice leauge 2. Guardians of Gahool 3. Watchmen.
Legend of Of The Guardians has some of the most beautiful anination to date. Ive yet to see any movie do a scene as beautiful as the storm scene.
Why do so much people think that "Legend of the guardians" is bad? For me it's an underrated good movie.
I wouldn’t exactly called Watchmen “faithful”
I think it's as much faithful as a movie adaptation can be. The climax of exchanging the fake aliens for Dr. Manhattan as the world threat that unites the nations works better for a movie made today, I think. The other changes, IMO, were minor. Overall, I think it was Snyder's 2nd best movie, after 300. But I highly regard Man of Steel and BvS as excellent superhero movies (even if BvS is more like a drama about a conflict of 3 great men with daddy issues, which is fabulous). His Justice League (Snyder cut, of course) was very good, but it would have been much better if we had the follow up conflict with Darkside, sadly never to happen, now that we'll have woke GunnDCverse.
I didn't know he directed legend of the guardians
Same
My Top 6 Favorite Snyder Films AKA the Snyder films I’m a big fan of.
6. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ultimate Edition)-While I do acknowledge this being a flawed film, I thoroughly enjoy the Ultimate Edition for its ambitious themes, storytelling, and action, as well as being the introduction to Batfleck and the continuation of Cavill’s Superman
5. Watchmen (Ultimate Cut)-For a graphic novel that was considered to be unfilmable, I think Snyder did a great job at adapting it because of its great atmosphere, complex character dynamics, and ambition to do more than a lot of comic book films aim for, especially nowadays
4. 300-A Spartan movie that has a fairly simple story structure, which means it won’t be everyone’s speed, but at its core, this movie is about being virtuous to die for who and what you believe in, which I think it encapsulates wonderfully
3. Dawn of the Dead (Unrated Director’s Cut)-Because of Snyder’s stylized directing right when he first started directing movies and James Gunn’s screenplay, this remake of the 1978 zombie classic works as an excellent horror remake, an awesome zombie film, and one of Snyder’s best films in my opinion
2. Man of Steel-A fantastic 21st century version of the Superman character that has great aesthetics and action from Snyder, a great villain in General Zod, and powerful themes of self discovery to pull it all together, making for one of my all time favorite comic book films
1. Zack Snyder’s Justice League-An amazing addition to the comic book movie genre that has great character arcs, solid Snyder action, complex, but incredibly satisfying storytelling, a massive scale, and fantastic world building, which makes for a superhero epic deserving of the Justice League title
I don’t know if Watchmen would be considered underrated, but I think that film is fantastic. Jackie Earle Haley and Jeffery Dean Morgan don’t get talked about enough for their work in there. I haven’t seen all of Snyder’s work, but that is probably my favorite.
For me, it's his best after 300.
Cody leach has left the chat about dawn of the dead 😂
Man of Steel is outstanding
Legend of the guardians is one of my most best childhood. *MOVIE*
Watchman was NOT a faithful adaptation. First off Snyder completely missed the point as the graphic novel is a satirical spin on the question "what if heroes were real?" Instead he just sensatioalised the violence without the charm or humour. Also no giant space monster at the end... The common enemy was instead Doctor Manhattan 😔
11: sucker punch: a movie that looks great but is dull and like a few more of these movies should have been rated r
10: rebel moon part 1: a derivative slightly dull story that like sucker punch should have been rated r
9: rebel moon part 2: copy paste my criticisms of part 1
8: legend of the guardians: owls of ga hoole: a shockingly dark movie that tries to be a kids movie but is way to harsh for kids
7: batman v superman ultimate edition: some epic moments and action especially the warehouse sequence but also way overstuffed with everything it's trying to do
6: army of the dead: great concept awesome action great acting but convoluted with the ideas aside from the heist
5: watchmen: a bizarre comic book movie that is also very entertaining with great action visuals and performances
4: dawn of the dead: a high octane zombie action movie with fun characters awesome brutal action and a simple concept the reason it's not higher is zombie movies aren't specifically the thing I go back to
3: 300: a simple Spartan action movie that is unashamedly soaked in manliness and testosterone
2: man of steel: a great superman movie that has awesome action a tone and visual style that I love and has Henry cavill as my favorite Superman
1: Zack snyders Justice League an epic long action movie that gives every character an arc and is worthy of being called a justice league movie unlike the crap that they released in 2017
I somewhat agree with your list but how on earth did you call watchmen a faithful adaptation? 😂 have you ever read the graphic novel?
10. Sucker Punch 3.5/10
9. Rebel Moon Part Two 4/10
8. Rebel Moon Part One 4/10 (it could switch between the two, idc)
7. Legend of the Guardians 4/10
6. Army of The Dead 4.5/10
5. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice 5/10
4. Dawn of The Dead 6.5/10 (lotta you love it, but I’m just ok with it)
3. Man of Steel 7/10
2. Zack Snyder’s Justice League 7.5/10
1. 300 7.5/10
Sorry Snyder fans, I can’t click with your boy…
You’re right- he’s made some good films, but he’s very overrated
That's fine, I'm a fan of his but I feel he's one of those directors you can't quite openly recommend to people due to his films' inconsistent reception. Thinking of names like M. Night Shyamalan or the Wachowskis.
Nah you're ok, Snyder is a hack.
I mean its OK your opinion as long as you don't try to insult him for just doing his job.
@@faith4657 yeah I wouldn’t do that. In fact, I applaud him for his “style.” It’s visually distinctive and it looks great I can’t lie. It’s just, everything else about the films I don’t click with…
I read the guardians of gahoole books growing up. What’s funny is the books are waayyyy more violent than the movie but still for kids
Rebel moon is not great and it has flaws and it not really rewatchable but its overhated. In my opinion its more ok. People act like its madame web. And i like zack as director and cinemagrapher (sorry if i spelled wrong) but not as a writer i mean ww 1 and the 300 was good but i think better off as a director and visuals. And i agree with your list. For rebel moon he shouldve hired christoher nolan, david s. Goyer and chris terrio for writers of rebel moon.
What about Dan Schneider 💀
Legend of the Guardians has a city of owls while a song by Owl City plays. It is number 1. Also, actual number one is 300. Putting Justice League there is just Snyder fanboying.
5- immortals 4- legends of the guardians
3 -sucker punch
2 - man of steel
1 - 300
Zack Snyder’s not a great director, but his DCEU trilogy (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, & Justice League) is excellent. Such great character arcs for Superman and Cyborg.
He is a good director.
Fuck no
its not tho. Mos is enjoyable but not a very good movie, batman v superman is iffy and zsjl is good
@@justindai8401you don't understand movies bro 🤦
@FLAME_420 you dont if you think mos was a really good superman movie
Honestly, not a fan of snyder's work, and I completely agree with the list.
Its not copy, Originally meant for starwar before George sell to disney, every Snyder Fans know it
I didn’t know people disliked Legend of the Guardians
I actually genuinely liked Suckerpunch. As a movie, I'll admit it's pretty dull. As a hella long music video, it's exceptionally awesome. The soundtrack was so good and mixed with the sequences really well. So yeah meh movie but fantastic music video so if youre a music junkie, you might dig it.
bro did not jus call watchmen faithful 💀
Yes
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout the film doesn’t satirise anything or deconstruct any of the classic superhero tropes, snyders jus a frat bro that saw all the sex and violence and went ‘sick!’
Guardians of Gahool is literally an easy rank two.
I agree with most of these. BvS was a bit mistreated though 😊
Mistreated by me?
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout just where it is in the rankings. Your opinion. I'm a big fan of that movie!
@@prestonian8444 I've been a defender of that film since it came out
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout me too! What are your opinions on the Martha scene?
My ranking:
1) ZSJL
2) MoS
3) 300
4) Army Of The Dead
5) BvS UE
6) Watchmen
7) Dawn Of The Dead
8) Legend Of The Guardians
9) Sucker Punch
Haven’t seen the Rebel Moon movies yet, waiting for the director’s cuts to drop.
Trust me you don’t want these films to be even longer than they already are
@@thelastbrickbender2139 that bad huh?😭 my inner Star Wars fanboy is curious ngl otherwise I probably wouldn’t even watch
@@RonakMahesh my inner Star Wars fan was crying in a corner afterwards
Equal parts joy Disney turned these scripts down and despair I subjected myself to it
@@thelastbrickbender2139DAMN😭 noted, I’ll avoid these then
Army of the dead was fire story was simple good action wild
Even though Rebel Moon to me was just average. Zack Snyder put way more passion and effort put into it than Disney did with Star Wars mostly
Martha!!! Why did I say that name!!!
… I don’t know but I have a bad taste in my mouth and feel like I hate DC again… they are the best.
I have yet to see a Snyder film that I’ve enjoyed but a girl can dream :)
Better to not watch any, his films r extremely bad
I like man of steel and the snyder cut .
300 is good
Where is wonder woman?
I’ve only seen number 6, number 4, number 3 and number 2.
Rebel moon part 2 is so bad he didn’t even include it💀
He combined both rebel moon movies because they are in his bottom 2
@@elijahpeless6641 lol
Army of the dead too low
Zach is OVERRATED. 300 is probably the only good thing he's done. His Superman movie muted the colors MUTED THE COLORS OF SUPERMAN. That's a clear indication of someone who does not understand the character and/or hates it entirely.
a Snyder movie looks good but has a lacking story? who would have thought?
All of them rank last
No. That's not a reasonable take.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAboutmb
I haven't seen either Rebel moon yet, but worse than sucker Punch. That's bad
300 over man of steel?? ....interesting...
My list
11.rebel moon part 2 3/10 terrible worse than part one because it was underwhelming
10.rebel moon part 1 3/10 terrible worse than army of the dead because it felt like a watered down version of Zack Snyders idea
9.army of the dead 3/10 terrible
8.zack Snyders justice league 3/10 terrible better than army of the dead because it wasn’t disappointing
7.Batman v Superman 3/10 terrible better than Zack Snyder‘s justice league because at least it had depth but was worse than man of steel because Superman was more depressing, and it had a Batman who killed
6.man of steel 3/10 terrible
5.sucker punch 3/10 terrible better than man of steel, because at least it was interesting
4.legend of the guardians 6/10 pretty good
3.watchmen 8/10 amazing
2.300 8/10 amazing better than watchmen because it was more distinct
1.dawn of the dead 8/10 amazing better than 300 because it had a better script
Brother none of us watched sucker punch for the story
What for then?
Rabel moon every fight scene is slow motion so boring.... "Slow motion moon"
Yiu put bat v supes in the top 5?? Don’t quit your day job guy
Dawn of the dead is too low
Most trash mainstream movie director ever... Way worse than Michael Bay
My defense for Michael Bay will always be Transformers 1 and 3, and Bad Boys I and II. Say whatever else about his filmography but man delivers as far as I’m concerned with those…
@@NinthShinigami watch "The Rock" if you've never seen it, it's one of the best action films of the 90s
@@prakharkirtijajoria5314 lowkey I forgot that was his 😅😂 I enjoy that one too, Ambulance was another one someone brought to my attention, which is also solid imo. However, the four I mentioned are films I like REAAALLY really enjoy.
@@NinthShinigami fair, also I'm happy to see a fellow transformers 3 enjoyer. It may not have brains, but damn me if the spectacle ain't awesome
I honestly still prefer Zack Snyder than Michael bay or at least Patty Jenkins.
Mostly because ZSJL is at least better than both wonder woman movies and Transformers 2 and 13 hours for me
1. ZSJL

Last: All the rest
(Haven’t seen 300, SP, the zombie movies and the Owl movie)
Dawn of the Dead remake is the best Zack Snyder film and written by James Gunn the rest are trash he's a terrible storyteller and his DC films are awful
this dude can't make movies
