    Just ordered a pair of these. When someone says that something changes their life it is always worth sitting up and taking notice.
    I am fed up using my ruck-sack and feeling the heavy weight on my back so am now looking forward to trying these.
    Thanks.

    After 10 yrs of year 'round commuting in Chicago I am due for a new pair. Mine are used in all weather including extreme heat and below zero, they have been dropped, dragged, hit, crashed and overstuffed - 1 case of beer and 1 6-pack in each is my record….I can't say enough good things about these bags and will be ordering another pr of Backroller Classics this week. Oh, get the "In-Put" makes finding your keys, wallet etc a little easier.

    I have four Ortlieb panniers, for around eight years now. Still function like brand new. No tears. I've carried thousands of pounds of food and other stuff.

    wild4fp Each pannier can handle 20 LITERS of volume. Trust me that's really deep and wide. And it doesn't need to be rolled down if filled. I've filled up the bags to the brim before and just rode like that just fine.

    How well do the bags hold up long term under the hot sun? I live on the Tampa Bay side of Florida where the sun is relentless and takes it's toll on many items. Will they get brittle and crack and fade over time or has this been thought out in the manufacturing process?

    • @AntranikDotOrg
      @AntranikDotOrg  10 лет назад

      That's a good question. I haven't put mine under extended harsh conditions like that, but the material is excellent, so, maybe it is the best thing that could hold up to it anyway?

    Nice video! I'm debating between the OrtliebBack-RollerPanniers

    and the Ortlieb Back-Roller Design Panniers. They have different coatings- the first is Coated nylon and the second is PVC-coated polyester, the second is 8.1 oz heavier, which gets you one additional cubic inch of gear capacity. Which coating is better? / Is it worth it to save on the weight. - Indecisive in need of more data

  • @petercavanagh5011

    Great video. I tour solo and wondered how you deal with security using Ortlieb bags that detach so easily from the bike even when the bike itself is securely locked? For instance you want to pop into a public toilet for a few minutes - do you unpack and take it all in with you?

    • @AntranikDotOrg
      @AntranikDotOrg  4 года назад +1

      Yea, I usually take it with me. However, there's one version of these panniers that have a metal loop that you can put through your cable lock thorugh. That doesn't prevent them from opening it though. I just take it off and in with me because it's so easy to put on and off.

  • @wild4fp

    You say they go deep, they look a deep volume bag when it is opened out, but, when you rolled it down then fasten the strap, it did not look deep then...
    My question, if I filled it, can it be fastened together without needing to be rolled down or does it need to be rolled down as the strap does does not reach if filled to be fastened...? thanks.

  • @robertjewell5948

    If one needed to, could one roll the pannier up easily and slide it into a backpack or something?
    Some context: I was thinking of having one pannier be laptop friendly, store the back-roller free pannier in the laptop friendly pannier with my laptop etc...and when I go grocery shopping take out the back-roller free pannier and use it.

    • @hheintze1
      @hheintze1 6 лет назад

      The back of these is rigid plastic to prevent them from folding back into the rear wheel's spokes. They cannot be rolled up. Ortleib does make a backpack rig that the pannier clips into for use as a waterproof backpack.

  • @lancelovecraft5913

    Hello. nice video/demonstration. Question: My hooks fit tight (side to side) but they rattle on every bump up and down. Do you have that problem with a constant rattle? and what do you do about the up and down motion? (I know... that's a loaded question... LOL)

    • @AntranikDotOrg
      @AntranikDotOrg  8 лет назад

      +Robert Krause Nope I don't have that issue whatsoever. Are you sure the hooks are locking in around the rack when the hooks close? If yes, then what about the bottom hook? You could move and retighten that bottom hook to slide onto the rack as well (circled in yellow here i.imgur.com/XhfxSdy.png )

    • @turtlepowersf
      @turtlepowersf 8 лет назад

      perhaps you could fashion some sort of bushing around your rack where the hooks clip to? or rubber tape to thicken the diameter of the rack?

    where do u put the shoulder strap whilst riding ???

    • @AntranikDotOrg
      @AntranikDotOrg  7 лет назад

      It just hangs or you can put it under the buckle that you clip up top if you want it secured, although I've never had an issue with it just hanging freely. It doesn't move at all.

    Sure it's a really good and reliable product. But I regret there is no anti-theft system. It's too easy to pick up the bag. especially in urban zones. Otherwise I'm quite convinced to order it soon.

    • @AntranikDotOrg
      @AntranikDotOrg  10 лет назад +1

    Everything functions properly ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of RUclips. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!
