    The most heart wrenching part is when Ali is searching for Sang-Woo after he realizes he’s been betrayed. He is using the Korean word for older brother. A term of respect. He’s like a lost little kid calling out for his older brother who’s left him to die. It destroyed me when I learned that.

    I totally feel for Gi-hun in this episode. I work for old people and there was this old lady who had dementia and was so scared to go to bed. Every night she asked me if the next morning it will be me to wake her up and each time I answered yes even when it will be my coworkers because I thought she will forget. But one night, she took my hand and told me : « You say that but it’s never you. »

    How phenomenal was the acting this episode?? There was (mostly) no music throughout the entire game but this had to be the most tense and gut-wrenching for me thanks to the all the actors. And kudos to the art design team. The decision to have the lighting mimic sunset set the mood SO well.

    The writing for "Jiyoung's" character was brilliant. In such a few exchanges with "Saebyeok" we get so affected by her character. Jiyoung will forever live in Saebyeok's mind and heart and this is yet another form of torture for the already tortured. Jiyoung's character also shows the real depths of the evil in the operators. They did not have to prey on her, she was not in debt. She did her punishment and could of had a new start in life. It's strange that they would have approached her. It seems so diabolical and evil.

    • @user-13430
      @user-13430 2 года назад +6

      I think she inherited debt from her father - she says that she expected the squid game recruiters to be there for her father's loans.
      Although at the moment of recruitment she must be a lot more vulnerable emotionally than financially - there must be support systems in place for inheriting debt, right?
      But also, she is a criminal, she killed a person. Maybe that's why the legal system can't help and she has to fend for herself.
      In any way, squid game organisers are _definetely_ not as fair and chArITabLe as they try to be perceived. Even if she was in debt - she did not deserve that.

      As someone who’s watched a lot of Korean movies, I have to say that I personally think that’s an unfortunate habit most Korean directors follow. They feel like they *need* to make the audience cry at least once, so even when the genre’s comedy, the movie will reveal some melodramatic sob-story 😂… And from what I’ve heard, most Koreans are sick of that tendency lol

    Just my theory.. Oh Ilnam (old man) pretty much knew his fate and was just going down memory lane as he was going through the village. He was prolonging the game just to play with Gi-hun one last time in his last minutes because they were true friends. He obviously was aware of the cheating but in the end, still gave up his last marble to perhaps teach him a life lesson if he ends up getting out. Also Sang-woo vs Ali was a game of wits and unfortunately Sang-woo won. Sae-byeok and Ji-Yeong was so sad since Ji-Yeong didn't have anyone or anything to go back to which is why she sacrificed herself. Outcomes were so tragic and I cried so much!

      My grandmother and grandfather on two sides of my family have had it and it's definitely a saddening thing to witness. I'm just curious if with that turn at the end, if it was an act or not because he was aware of his "episode" and the manipulation that took place which I've never experienced that happening. Omni, Ji Yeong’s sacrifice hit the hardest😭It got me thinking long and hard about the writing of her character tho:- Why is she not seen in the first two games, we don’t know if she voted to stay or leave. Surely she voted leave. Physically and sexually abused people are rarely motivated or psychologically healed by monetary compensation alone. If she did leave why would she go back? If she’s already suicidal why didn’t she just keep moving on Red light or just ate her cookie? The problem is that the construct of the Game doesn’t offer anything for people like Ji Yeon so why recruit her into it? The writers should’ve restricted the players back stories to indebtedness which winning would instantly solve. Instead she suddenly appears when the team games start and makes the noblest sacrifice to save SaeByoek to drive her story arc.

    I dont know How most people cry more with the girls than with the old Guy.
    It was Very Sad and ALL, but the ALL build up for the old Guy death was way better and even the Episode has the name of their situation as partners.
    People can say that the old Guy was already dying and lived a Lot, but for me that meant NOTHING. his death was the saddest.
    *I watched ALL, i know How It ends.

      Cause as much as we loved the old man, he had a tumor. He was going to die anyway. That girl had her whole life ahead of her. I think that's a bigger sacrifice.

      For me, my sadness for both Ali and Il-nam were offset by how I felt about Gi-Hun and Sang-Woo behaviors. I was put off by what they did to the point where it distracted from the other's deaths.
      For the girls, it was just pure sadness. No grimy-ness to distract.

    This episode hollowed me out. Took me a few days to go back to the show because it hurt so much.
    Anyone who doesn't have an emotional response to stuff like this has no heart. Yes, it's just as manipulative as the games they're forced to play, but it was such a beautifully written tragedy.

  • @HelloThere.GeneralKenobi
    @HelloThere.GeneralKenobi 2 года назад +33

    Emotionally brutal. Really hope it doesn't happen again but it's probably going to.
    It's always worth letting the emotions show. We likely hold back in other situations and when something like this happens it's a way to release all at once.
    While the number of players drop the difficulty is bound to just leap forward!! Almost at the end.
    Take care bud!

      형( hyung) = older brother 입니다. 한국에서는 친형제가 아니더라도 남자끼리 자신보다 나이 많은 남자와 친해졌을때 이름말고 “형” 이라고 부릅니다. “형” 이라는 단어안에 아는 사람/ 친한사람 이라는 의미가 들어가있습니다.
