Good for China! Start small, gain experience, grow her rightful share in plane sales in the world aviation market espcially in the BRICS Plus countries in the years to come. With a big domestic market for such an aircraft there is much going for China manufacturing her own passenger aircrafts. Literally the sky is the limit for Chinese commericial aviation!

@@ly8370 My point is that the C919 program is compromised, as soon a China get hit with western sanctions the whole program will end up in limbo. With regards to your comment on the F-35: Honeywell has stopped work with the [Chinese] supplier providing alloy, and an alternative U.S. source is already on order with anticipated delivery next month,
Chinese companies absolutely suck at building quality products and support (Huawei probably the only exception I see). Comac has a long way to go before their airplanes are considered by airlines outside China (unless they're pressured into it). More important than selling the plane is the maintenance schedules and costs and parts availability. Russian aircraft manufacturers were dismal on that, it's up to Comac to not make the same mistakes. I find it doubtful that it will take them less than 20 years to build an international maintenance network, and show that the product is reliable and cost effective.
The significance of C919 is that China can replace Boeing's share in Chinese airlines with this aircraft, and then iterate the technology of Chinese aircraft with the market. I only see American jobs being obtained by Chinese people.
What will happen, when countries who purchased C919 and get into certain diplomatic issue with China in the future? Will the CCP overrule the commercial obligation of the plane manufacturer in terms of service support?
I have not come across anything about China govt not honouring its commitment and contractual obligations so far. May be you can name me a case. That was the least impressive flight demonstration I've ever seen at an airshow, regardless of the airframer. No performance capabilities demonstrated.
