Yeah just cut a notch and file/sand all burred edges on the top of the spike smooth. The reel support arm will fit nice and not move around. Also if you're pounding the spike into dense sand with a dead blow hammer, use a cut piece of 5/8" plywood as a buffer. 12" × 6 " × 5/8"
@@TridentFishing I bought a can of Plasti-Dip Spray Rubberized Coating @ Lowes to spray the top lip and exterior just for the heck of it. The stuff may just peel off in routine use being thrown around and with sand, but it's a tool, not a piece of art haha.
@@TridentFishing Probably shouldn't have said anything, but it felt so good to be pointing something out to someone else as I make the same kind of blunders all the time and am on the receiving end myself. just having a little fun at your expense no harm intended. Ha ha.
Yeah I was wondering what he was going to do with the Allen wrench😂 I don't have a working heat gun so I just use a blowtorch but now that I've been reading comments I'm pretty excited about the whole hot water or oil thing
Great idea and a nice fish caught at the end xx
Great idea and looks so much better than just cut edge
Glad you like it!
Only thing is when you bang on it to drive it down, the flanged area will break. I left mine alone and it works great.

First time viewer...great video
Awesome! Thank you!
Not an allen wrench lol channel locks but good video man
yeah when i got back to edit it im thinking to my self what was i thinking
@@TridentFishing it happens lol FISH ON!
does the flange make it too big to suck the air out when putting it in the sand?
Would it be a thing to maybe add some type of cushion on the lip, like foam or even tape of some sort?
iv thought about it , but with it flange open its not very rough on your reel like this

@@BeckVMH for sure man ,,,,, tight lines
If you're concern is a sharp edge, just use a file or sandpaper.
Nice!!!
Thanks!
What size PVC pipe do you recommend? Thx!
why not make a mould on a wood lathe?
It's easier to use a small deep fryer with cooking oil. Doesn't burn the pvc and you can make a flat flange. I do this with pvc speaker ports
Looks like padre island
try a pot of boiling water
👍
Why do you have to flange the pvc
What you call an Allen wrench I call Chanel lock pliers.
yeah that was my bad , i was gonna add a note in post but was like ehh what ever,,
