I remember hearing Jon Denver sing: Oh, I'd play Sally Goodin all day if I could but the Lord and my wife wouldn't take it very good.... This is the first time I ever heard it! I love it!

I like Earl's backup as much as his lead. Just love the interplay tween banjo and fiddle.

Actually this is Gordon Terry playing fiddle on an album where the back up was an uncredited Flatt and Scruggs and Foggy Mountain Boys.

Always good to hear Gordon Terry on fiddle, and of course masterful work by Earl Scruggs to help make Sally Goodin a banjo tune as well. The dobro part was excellent too - was it Josh Graves?

Ive heard a couple versions of this song and this one definately is better. The intro being my favorite part sounds like the start of a perfect hoedown

J.D. would have told you that Earl Scruggs is the man the made him want to play the banjo. Earl was/is the master.

Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs broke up shortly before the show, and after the posters were printed, and were replaced by the Osborne Brothers.
