    Building a heavy duty welding cart. Those off the shelve welding carts from harbor freight and northern tool are just kind of cheap and flimsy. I wanted to build my own cart that has places to hold a tig torch and ground clamp cable. So I ordered some aluminum diamond plate aka tread plate to jazz it up a bit. This will take a few videos to complete so stay tuned.

    As A woman who just started welding classes with my husband, we were told by our teacher to check out your youtube channel. Your relationship with your wife is the same as me and my husband. Happy welder families stay together. Thanks for the excellent welding tutorials. .

    Way to go, Jody! Getting a little "extra" before breakfast always puts a guy in a great mood! It reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw a number of years ago . . . "Welders do it with hot rods." If my wife was that hot, I'd be smiling too! Thanks for the video.
    Regards,

    Regular hot rolled steel drives me nuts. I grind the mill scale off and clean with acetone and sometimes the welds are fine but more often than not I'll get a small bubbly thing that ends up as porosity. The more I grind it out and go over it the worse it gets. Sometimes I can add filler like 309 and it helps but I feel like I shouldn't have to. If I were welding that tube you have I would have cleaned the joints inside and out, rubbed it down with acetone and I guarantee I would have gotten porosity in a few spots. What do you do to avoid this? I was struggling with this the other day and I thought I had everything covered: dynasty 200dx, new cup, #8 gas lense, 20-25 cfh, red tungsten ground perfect, no argon leaks, ground and clean (acetone) hot rolled steel. Got a little bubble and anything I did after it got worse. The only thing I didn't do was preheat the steel. Any suggestions? Thanks and thanks for all the informative videos. -Ray

    Looking forward to it. I'm going to need a cart for my new Everlast Powertig 200DX and my PowerCool W300, I will be getting tnese units in 2 mos.
    I have a question for you Jodymeister, Will this cart serve that purpose?

    • @weldingtipsandtricks
      @weldingtipsandtricks  10 лет назад

      this cart will have a spot on the bottom for a tig cooler, the middle shelve will hold a tig welder, and the top will hold a tote tray of tig welding consumables and grinders and stuff. big enough to hold pretty much any 200-250 amp inverter and any tig cooler....so yes it will work. but you might want to change up dimensions to suit your own stuff.

    Wouldn't it be more cost effective MIG instead of TIG?
    Light grinding on the edges and low Amp I think that it could be done nicely and "nearly" flat with MIG, just my opinion.

  • @manias79

    Hi Jody - great video with a gentle ending:) I've got one question about welding square tubing's inside corners. I've been tig welding stainless balustrades, mainly made of sq. tubes. I was taught to weld inside corners with no filler rod vertical down (because the welded frame was to big to easly turn it in more welder's friendly position). Do you think this was a good idea, or should I go vertical up inside corner at al cost? Regards from sunny Poland!

    • @weldingtipsandtricks
      @weldingtipsandtricks  10 лет назад

      all depends on the application. sometimes a fusion weld with no filler is fine.
      to really know the answer, it would require destructive testing. IF you have doubts, Doing a lay wire uphill could be better and just as fast
