I know it's a joke but as it is a widespread misconception: Hans Zimmer did indeed come up with the low base sound for Inception and Sherlock but didn't really use it since. Other composers did pick up on it though and use it on everything.
He can easily get this kind of power if he wants it. Inception was scored for 6 tenor trombones, 6 bass trombones (2 doubling contra), and 4 tubas for example.
He doesn't want it. He records the brass players and then perverts the sound with digital effects and reverb, sometimes combined with brass samples. This is how things are done at Remote Control Productions. It's insulting to the musicians.
This made me take out a trombone to learn over the summer. I already play trumpet and horn so why not just keep getting lower in the brass section. I wish to play tuba one day

@@ruanpingshan I have played both, given a choice I would probably prefer a contrabass, but I am a trombonist by training. For the tubist the clear choice would be the cimbasso . If I had to play in a confined space... cimbasso. But honestly, beyond that they don't sound significantly different. No more so than say trombone Vs valve trombone. The cimbasso is for all intents and purposes a valve contrabass.
I live for low sound just like this, I used to play alto sax but now I’m a baritone sax, just couldn’t help myself, and this type of sound is exactly why I switched. Bari doesn’t come close to this sound but it’s a step in this direction lol
This inspired me to pick up my trombone again. The melodic tone with that edgy and beautifully gnarly sound of the trombone just gives all low brass players this feeling of glee and just laugh enjoyably how well this instrument is played. Truly no other instrument in the brass family can ever sound this direct, this wholesome, this loud of a TROMBONE 💯🙌
I'm currently watching Game of Thrones for the first time. Today, I saw the "red wedding", and while I really liked this video before, it has a whole new level of depth and impact. Holy shit I love this show.
All I can say is… Wow. As a trombone player myself, this truly made my day and made my heart and soul happy. Outstanding performance! I highly recommend wearing earbuds/headphones to listen to this to get the full deep rich sound and feeling.
Oh my god I have listened to this song countless times and it never ceases to give me goosebumps. I wish so bad that this would be performed live somewhere so that I could experience the true power of these legendary brass players.
What astounds me besides the *MEATY* vibrations coming from the cimbassos and contrabasses hitting them pedal tones, is that you can hear French Horns and Trumpets, but from a trombone and I love that so much.
I am not exaggerating when I say this brought tears, Joseph Alessi especially, his tone is everything I aspire to be and I will practice my entire life until I reach that point
This is easily amazing work. I get goosebumbs on the whole body when I hear that. Thanks to Ramin Djawadi and especially to this orchestra who did an awesome job playing and arranging this masterpiece.
Such an experience listening to the low, dark booming brass for the first time. I can imagine that, when doing the same with upper brass (trumpets/cornets, tenor horns), the atmosphere will be very different
Colin Williams and George Curran are beasts! I saw them play Firebird with NYP. Of course having the legendary David Finlayson on second helps to make anybody even more amazing.

I learned music playing trumpet in middle school, but it wasn't until I started playing Baritone and Tuba in high school that it really light my fire. Music is Life.
This whole thing was a masterpiece, but the thing that really had me holding my breath was Nick gingerly resting his contrabass on the floor. It's just so tall.
