They are bigger, jet black, red eyes, have dragon imagery and bones on their body, and are overall one of the most intimidating at face value; but they're the kindest and most empathetic chapter. GW naming them the "Salamanders" is a perfect fit. They're constantly being nearly wiped out but keep regenerating their numbers, like a salamander's tail would. A salamander sheds it's tail to make sure the rest of him survives the predator, the same way the Salamanders sacrifice themselves for the people they protect. I used to like Imperial Fists because they're the stalwart defender chapter, but I have been tipped into Vulkan's favour.
I haven't seen the entire episode yet, but something I'd like to mention: people love to bring up how almost darkly comical it is that the most considerate and casualty-averse chapter would use a weapon that is nothing but indiscriminate area-effect, a flamethrower. I'd argue that it makes perfect sense. Why? Because they're the ones who will take the time to learn how to use it not only most effectively, but also most safely around civilians. They will also *only* use it if the situation calls for it, and they'll have an extremely light touch with it. If a Salamander is using a flamer in a densely populated area, it means that either he's certain he's not going to hurt anyone, or the situation is genuinely so terrible/on the brink of calamity that *not* doing this will hurt more civilians, and this is truly the least-bad of all his options.

Black Dragons are the coolest. The definition of don't judge the book by its cover. About the Vulkan artifacts; there is a theory that, as a perpetual, there might be just enough of his DNA on them, or they have it encoded into them. Btw. There is a cool dynamic between successor chapters and other marines, but I'm still waiting for a book where two Salamanders successors cooperate in a campaign, or towards a common goal, that would be the most badass book of the year. Imagine Black Dragons finding kindred spirits among the Dark Krakens and Space Drakes, discovering they're the same at the core desiptite all their differences, internal cultures and doctrines. How awesome would that be?
Not so fun fact: there was so few salamanders remaining that until the ultima founding when guilliman came back the salamanders had 2 successor chapters. Both of which are unconfirmed to be salamanders successors (but unconfirmed in the GW way where they go "oh which chapter these guys come from is unknown" *wink*) and those two are the storm giants and black dragons.
The Salamanders, and everyone on their planet have long since been confirmed to be almost pitch black. It's due to the radiation of Nocturne's sun, which even damaged their Melanochrome, so now their skin actually can't change colors like other Astartes.

22:07 you should’ve said “They look at him with a light glint in their eye and say Papa?? Then they turn back to the orks and say Dakka??”
From your description the Night Lords sound like all of Batman's villans made into Astartes
Blood Angels 🩸 because who doesn't love us some EDGE! "Hair Flip" Because tonight will be the night that i will fall for you Sanguiniessss!!!!! Taken before his time!!!! 😢
I’m just happy with all the monster hunter references freaking awesome game franchise
first off thanks for the content guys i love this stuff (in particular the long form) keep it up. i was fiending for a new vid for like the last 3 days and then this one popped up at work and just made my night. after the sallys i hope blood and iron warriors come next. i just listened to and audio book version of robot girly man (im not spelling that...) so im ok on ultramarines for now.
I was literally about to buy a salamander army 🥺 they seemed so sweet
Sweet with a taste of arson!! I love them.
@@danielhobdy1931 I’m brand new lol but I fs love the salamanders! First army fs
I read the video length as 10 minutes, and I thought "Thats pretty short", then it corrected to an hour and ten and let out a sigh of relief
I’d love for y’all to go over the Votann since they’re the newest faction, and maybe even going over the Dornian heresy?
Yes, space dorfs with robutts!
Saw this podcast, got hooked, watched every video and like a junkie I started reading the books now.
the 5th chaos god should get a youtube short or something done about him cause he's pretty interesting
The only good people in 40k.
A salamander is the kind of guy who carries a fallen guardsmen home so he can be shown the proper respect. Then right after he will start doing humanitarian aid all whilst crying because in his eyes he's a failure. He failed to save someone and he doesn't believe he should be forgiven for this one man dying. This will always weigh on his heart.
This is me throwing the Adeptus Arbites in the topic ring.
Space cops y'all, seriously underrated.
I mean who doesn't love judge dredd?
They even take on Inquisitors when needed too! Truly fearless.
@@traehouston1141No one is above the emperor's judgement, brother.
The salamanders should’ve been more of the poster boys other than then ultra marines
The relictors needs to be discussed. They have some quite heretical weapons in their arsenal. As well as a confusing timeline
The Salamanders, and everyone on their planet have long since been confirmed to be almost pitch black. It's due to the radiation of Nocturne's sun, which even damaged their Melanochrome, so now their skin actually can't change colors like other Astartes.
Honestly it is time the iron warriors got some love, they've kinda been on the back burner recently
First army I ever got, before I defected to the Orks, my vote goes to the Blood Angels.
Much love from the UK ❤
Yes another isyander and coda episode!
23:01. Why do i think of Mal Renyolds every time i watch this part. "You've done the impossible and that makes you mighty."
I’d love to see the Iron Warriors and the Ultramarines!
Iron Warriors fans know how to do one thing and one thing well.
Win a war of attrition.
iron warriors definitely deserve their own episode
My boys finally got their episode, I'm so happy!!! Vulcan lives!!!! Also Blood angles is my vote
Do you imagine if Vulkan were with the Tau?😂😂😂
I hope you guys do an episode on the lamenters, they’ve been through way too much
The Alpha Legion never gives up. Soon you will be doing an Alpha Legion video without knowing how you wound up here!
"this isn't a Vulcan episode"
Spends 30 min talking only about Vulcan and events of the heresy.
Finally starts talking about the various Salamander legions and what they're like, lists 2 and then says "there are others but that's for another day"
....was this really an episode about the Salamanders?....
Edit:.....so I wrote that at about the 1hr mark...well you sure got me at the end there 😅 these guys are my favorite so far so I'm really happy they're getting 2 episodes. Thank you guys!!!! Keep on rocking like you do!!!
I want to see the iron warriors what makes them different from the imperial fists blood angels tho are cool too
