Did anyone else notice his brass was backwards when he went back to the zero stop before shooting the 200yd shot lol.

KISS - Finally. This is one of Vortex's GREAT long-range hunting scopes. FFP is great for match shooters who are compeating in broad daylight and shooting at white spray-painted steel gongs.
For seeing game in low light, and at closer ranges (inside 200Y) using the lower power - FFP is worthless. Second Focal Plane SFP is much more practical. The SFP light weight LHT 42mm with the HSR-5i reticle is just about PERFECT.
The simple red dot in the center does'nt kill your night vision by lighting up an entire Christmas Tree reticle - If, you would be using it as a true DMR. Home Run Vortex !!!
It would be nice if they made a 2-10 version for the rest of the hunting community that are competant to shoot out to 300 Y.

I believe the HD stands for High Density, the type of glass

Thank you very much for this review. I purchased this scope because of this review and I absolutely love it. Thanks again.

Second focal plane means that the reticle subtensions only correspond to ONE magnification setting, which is almost always maximum power.

Thanks Captain Obvious! It’s meant to be a lightweight hunting scope numbnutz, not a tactical dialer! Most experienced hunters want a second focal plane, so you can actually see the reticle at low power. Wise up clown!

This is a funny video! Got the scope weight wrong, almost fell down (careful that cliff!), then got his shell casing sitting backwards in his ejection port. 😄

The reticle sub tensions only work at max magnification.

Jacob Brazell unless he made a mistake and it’s an FFP scope... I hope he made a mistake so I can get one. No sfp for me.

Can't believe this scope made it to market with the flawed illumination switch. Will be sending mine back after hunting season.

The 42mm version of this scope is great, I wish Vortex would bring it with G4i reticle which is much more practial than this HSR-5i. Dunno why this is only available with the 50mm version...

I'm looking for a scope with bolded crosshairs, normal ones are a little difficult for me to see.
Not sure if this one will do the trick

I was out at .25”=.25moa, when someone thinks inches and MOA are the same it’s obvious they don’t shoot

Right? He was way off. Should have said .26175“. He would have missed by more than 3/16 of an inch with that math at 400 yards.

Is there a brand Eastman’s won’t sell its soul for. Every rifle or optic is a must have. How about just once say this “whatever” is not the best option blah blah blah. Not everything can be the best.

No. Its specific values of mrad/moa. For example if you know that you have to turn 18 clicks, but dont have time you turn the turret, you can use the hash mark with the same value that you would have turned
