Never forget Allan Houston during the Knicks1999 playoff run, he was amazing. Van Gundy put the whole responsibility on Houston during the finals, it was literally him against the whole team, Timmy, David, Avery Johnson, and Sean Elliott were too strong, that was the beginning of the machine called the San Antonio Spurs.
To explain it simply, he put up an IG post of him shooting FTs and the camera was behind the rim and he made them all and didn't have to chase after the ball because it came right back to him every time.
His shot on 2k once it was mastered I used to keep the game close so he got the last shot lol because he can see it going in at the release on a video game smh😂
I just remember Houston had the most textbook form for a jumpshot. Most great shooters have very quick or funky lookin shots. But Allen form looked like who they based a jump shot off of. It just looked so perfect. I remember him missing and me being like, "Oh shit I can't believe it" 😮
Man Allan was a beast even in Detroit. The main shot I remember was when he split the double team driving the lane and shot the ball to win the series against the Heat. Hell of a shot, probably the best shot in Knicks history besides LJ's 4 point play against the Pacers.
Man Allan Houston was my favorite player as a kid, I used to do a jab step before I shot on the playground & yelled Houston! He was the reason I became a Knicks fan.
My boy allan was a assassin...he drop 53 on kobe in the staples before that game he drop 50 on michael redd back to back against the two best two gaurd at the time
Allan Houston was elite long distances (three pointers, long 2 , above average free point shooter). I mean whenever he went up for a shot ( with he's high , sweet jump shut) you think , every shot, he pulled, it went, nothing but a net. One of my very favorite players. Also and post scriptum: can somebody consoled me. I said that Donte DiVincenso is a homeless ( not a poor man's version) of Al Houston. Cause I am , a Minny lifer. The Wolves ownership traded big Kat ( who was a model member of the team, he didn't do anything wrong, never complained. Played 90 percent of the game awesome. He didn't sayd anything publicly when Jimmy Butler banged his fiance). So I hope he wins a chip, with the Knicks. Also probably for me moves ( the trade) moves, the Knicks, the top favorites to win the East.
@@Being_remarkable14 Klay has never been able to create his own shit. Stats even show when he tries to his percentages go WAAAAYYYY down. He is great at off ball screens, cutting, catch, pump fake, one dribble pull up. YET he has never been able to create his own shot.
Allan H20 Houston His Catch n Shoot jumpshot from three was water & his off the dribble pull-up jumpshot was water & he definitely could dribble drive also for buckets & if you fouled him he was water from the foul line ! So In other words he was a dam nightmare for defenses in the NBA so I agree with Rasheed he was definitely on the scouting report 📝 & if you’re on the scouting report that’s because the other team respects you ! Allan houston is the reason i am a basketball player, knick fan, nba fan all together. Dude had a smooth jumper. Wasnt elite but he played both sides of the ball. Still have his jersey although a bit worn.
He was a constant professional never bad mouthed the organization teammates or coaches. Even after that Game 7 against Orlando when Ewing missed that point blank finger roll he never complained just showed up and put up all star numbers
Allan Houston is probably the nicest stars I ever met.. I had floor seats in like 2010 and he sat and talked with us for like 15 mins just shooting the shit .. never forget his graciousness
Tell me Sheed didn't use that H2O high release in his jumper to make him a top 5 PF in his day. Houston was beautiful with his jumper, and Sheed turned that high release into nearly unguardable with his height.
Knick fan here...imo, Allan Houston was like a Bradley Beal. After the big contract, he had a bad injury, but he was just starting to get in his dribble bag.
I've learnt that standard shooting form from Allan, then I spent the whole fucking year honing my own skills, and it turned out: that shooting form evolved into Kobe's mid-jump shooting form (when he was No.8)...I could make 95+ out of 100 in my prime days back then, remember Kobe once said: he just loves shooting the balls, that's the feeling I got, I could do that alone for hours, just wanna make those shots, it is so satisfying !!!
Allan houston was a legit 6ft7 not 6ft5 he was taller than dan Majerle who was jordan height @ 6ft6 . Was lethal from the field can post up the only problem with allan houston is just like chris childs said when they played Allan houston didnt know how great hea really was. When don Cheaney was an assistant with the knicks i remember after they beat Atlanta in game 1 where he said yall see that move the lil crossover dribble he talked about his game where he said allan has moves yall havent seen but he wasnt as comfortable using them but it was there. He showed flashes and thats what pissed us knick fans off at times where john starks left it all on the court but we knew allan had mad game he just didnt trust himself . When he put that fifty point game on the lakers that was him at his best but the injury hampered and he never recovered
Houston is the best shooter I've ever seen. He was better than Steph. The only difference is the game has changed which allows Steph Curry to pretty much do what he wants taking shots from anywhere . When Houston played you be benched for taking half the shots Steph took if you think I'm lying look up his RUclips videos ... He was head and shoulders over Steph, LITERALLY!!!!
LMAO As a die-hard & life-long Knicks fan, I would love to put Allan Houston in the Top 10 Best NBA Shooters but there's many still in front of him...hmmm, let me list a few Hall Of Famers: Chris Mullin, Dražen Petrović, Larry Bird, Ray Allen & Steve Nash...now, here's a bunch of active-players: Damian Lillard, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, etc. - lastly, here's a bunch of random lethal NBA marksmen (off-the-top): Mark Price, Jeff Horny & Chris Jackson a.k.a. Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf - all those deadly sharp-shooters I would put ahead of Houston 🏀

me too lol
Even at the Tennessee, he was a pure scorer, fantastic form
My favorite all time. Grew up a Knicks fan. Had me going to court after Knick games with a shovel to clear the snow to shoot jumpers.
Allan Houston shot was flawless.
A lot of guys can shoot. Its the jab steps and footwork he used to get his shot off that made him dangerous.

Him and Kobe used to go at it.

Wat you talking about? Orlando and Knicks never face each other in a playoff series when Ewing played.
Finger roll was against the Pacers. Allen Houston wasn't on that squad in 95 either...
Great player, unfortunately injuries got to him.

Allan Houston from the 1999 playoffs - end of 2003 season was special.
Got that 50 piece in msg in the finals 🐐
Allan Houston will pull up from the top of the key 10-11 times in a row and he was 6’6” 🎯🔥🔥🔥

I’d shoot say Allan Houston

Allan shot was so good. Most misses were rim outs
Show some love for Glen Rice. He was an underrated assassin.
He had a real smooth game
Another player who could of been one of the greats if not for injury. Dude was clutch as hell.
If Patrick Ewing was a few years younger, that Knicks team probably would’ve gotten at least 1 chip post MJ
how about Jamaal Mashburn? How good he is?

Bonzi example of Booker is accurate but Devin uses more dribbles so I would say klay style is more compatible less dribbling more scoring
I remember Allan H he was one of them shooters I liked smooth pretty jumper could have been more if he grabbed more rbs tho
Y'all gotta do Latrell sprewell
Allen Houston gave Kobe the bizz in LA
Allen Houston was underrated like a mf!!!

Devin Booker is a great comparison
I had that same thought
Plain and simple Alan Houston with money.
Klay and booker they don’t need a bunch of dribbles to get their shot off
I compare Allan Houston to Derozen but with at 3 ball
I'd liken him to khris Middleton... as he was much less aggressive/assertive than Book is.
