As sprout I want to thank the community for their kindness and patience, I never liked mmos because people have always been aggressive or mean when I tried to make content, go from lost ark where everyone is selfish and they filter you to make content and They insult you and even if it is your first time they expect you to know all the mechanics, to go through ffXIV where people are kind and willing to teach you and forgive your mistakes is something comforting, it is the first mmo in which I am willing to invest time and money because it is a place where I really feel welcome. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
I'm a sprout healer... I walked off a platform last night and then everyone else died... everyone was nice about it. I was shocked and had to heal myself from the shock.
I lol'ed at the thumbnail just because way back when I first started playing, I thought Marauder was DPS. I didn't know about the class colors and I never imagined a tank using a 2h axe, lol. Quickly switched to Monk once I figured it out and that has been my main since ARR.
@@Nempo13 yeah, but I've enjoyed all the changes so far, and it hasn't been too difficult to learn the changes. I've got most of the classes at 90 by now and Monk is still my favorite to play so far.

Sprout tank here. Can says sometime I do have overthink minds if I might let down my party when its on my first time dungeon / trials, afraid if I make mistakes and disturb the flow of the others if I did something wrong without my realization. Yet its some nice experience to see others does guide me on the map when I felt loss the way or teach me to Wall to wall pulls.
I proudly was able to keep a party alive as an AST with a sprout tank in Aurum Vale. Tbh it's a good challenge to get spicy runs as a healer nowadays instead of just spamming my single damage button. Having legit sprouts really is a fun time for me. It also reminds me how much I have grown when I notice the rookie mistakes hehe
I wish I was joking, the one mechanic I never got was 'the stage turn'. Danger shoots in a ray. I ran over to where I thought the table would turn. Spun around, saw everyone else on the other side. Me: "...okay, only once." 3 times later, "OH COME ON!!! How can I get NONE of these but LITERALLY DODGE EVERYTHING ELSE!?" After a while, the raid felt bad for me. I just can't get that mechanic.
This guy is famous, he is doing thaleia now days, but I really think he is some kind of proffessional troll, he always go for the telegraphs and make sure to dont dodge anything. Also, aways when possible, he stack his tankbuster aoe on party healers.
0:22 ngl dude your scared the shit out of me with the zoom in the tanks healthbar cause i was cause i was expecting that the sprout tank takes his stance of 😱😓
When I first played ff 14 back on ps3 release I had never played an mmo before and I didn’t realise I was playing a tank class as gladiator till like level 40. I was like, why is everyone in the dungeon always waiting for me?
This tank is actually playing old school coz you didn't do dungeons with defiance due to the dps loss, i know i did, like maybe for the initial pull but then deliverance, bloodbath and aoe those mobs. Fun times that i miss
"What do they mean when they say stance? w/e its not my problem. I dont know what mitigations are and I don't care. I should be allowed to play however i want and you can deal with it lol"
"We were all sprouts" definitely, and these days people are super cool about it. Back when i started it was so different. Ill never forget the first time i was in tamtara the tank cussed me out then rage quit because i was single targetting the mobs. Got cussed out quite a bit (learning healer and tank mostly) before things started to click. Was kicked out of my first ex trial, and ended up leaving a T5 prog group after being singled out the whole run. Hated going through that so i learned the nuances of the job, combat in general (server tick, rotations, etc.), gearing, studying fights and ended up clearing t9, t13, and the original savage fights before echo. Anyways, old man stories aside its really nice seeing how this communities mindset around new player's has changed.
The dungeon thing sucks, but in a raid I think it's appropriate to an extent (given that you didn't know your job or mechanics well and it wasn't just them pointing fingers at you while fucking up themselves). Still happens today. But imo, if you don't call it out, they never learn so it's just about being civil and fair with criticism.
To be fair, even some pro tanks forget about stance, since when you are at max level and go to a lower leveled dungeon, the game automatically switches it off for some odd reason. Though part of my Tank experience was screaming out for the guy to use Mits. 😂
I main Paladin & Warrior and now I've started to learn White Mage too. Regen paired with Asylum is my best friend. Bonus: If I fire off a Medica 2 they'll get another regen-bonus as well. If the tank die after that? Then it's honestly on them. x'D

@@rysingdragoon8735 Its a rare case, and tbh also Mentor are allowed to make mistakes because we are all humans in the end, but i meet some mentors how Show really bad gameplay and absolutly not a example for other players.. like letting Player die as Healer because doing damage is more importent (i know healer must also to damage but when player dies just because you want to push your logs, you are bad in your job) or Tanks how playing aggro pingpong for no reason.. or a party in a dungeon with me (Tank with Mentor Status but dont show the crown because of the bad reputation) one crafting mentor dps.. one crafting and pve mentor dps.. and also a healer sprout.. in the end im explaining the healer sprout how the Tank invulvs work while the mentors just like "i dont get paid for this shit!" (The healer was scared because i drop to 1 out of "nowhere" because Gunbreaker Invulv)
the fact that he's a Paladin proves that he should know better. if he was a DRK, I'd be a bit more forgiving, since "DRK is my first Tank" sprouts tend to not be as familiar with tanking as MRD/GLD Sprouts.
as a tank i love to give my healer ptsd by rushing mass pull mobs😂. but dont worry. no one died yet.(thanks to my tank ocd and potions) and my healers seems quite adaptive and pro with it 😝

I felt the same way when I joined!
Yeah I would of hated to be that tank. The healer never used assize, a free heal and damage button
You ever just look at a button and think "there's literally no reason not to push this as often as possible?"
@@Gloomdraketrue
Only tonight did I start using it more, right in-between DPS focused holy spam
I used to tank in DPS stance as Warrior and stance dance as needed, the good ole days when tanking required skill.
Me, a paladin tank sprout with naught but a single braincell: "I'm learnding!"
I'm a sprout healer... I walked off a platform last night and then everyone else died... everyone was nice about it. I was shocked and had to heal myself from the shock.
Leaving and returning to the game is like being a sprout all over again. I’m eternally baby ❤
How can be this an mmo community? As someone that almost only played wow its astonishing.
Now you made me want to try the game again.
God speed you fresh tank.
I lol'ed at the thumbnail just because way back when I first started playing, I thought Marauder was DPS. I didn't know about the class colors and I never imagined a tank using a 2h axe, lol. Quickly switched to Monk once I figured it out and that has been my main since ARR.
You main Monk? Oh you poor masochist. Monk and Bard gets a rework every single expansion.
@@Nempo13 yeah, but I've enjoyed all the changes so far, and it hasn't been too difficult to learn the changes. I've got most of the classes at 90 by now and Monk is still my favorite to play so far.
We were all sprouts once, I know I made silly mistakes when I was new back in the HW era. I make sure to be as patient as possible with them, and always chat with them to make sure they're having a good time.
I play healer because I’m a stress addict. A tank like this would satisfy my addiction for a whole week.
I mean this in the best way possible.
I am a fresh sprout, honest wow exile, and moderately clueless! Hooray! :D
Me: "...okay, only once."
3 times later, "OH COME ON!!! How can I get NONE of these but LITERALLY DODGE EVERYTHING ELSE!?"
After a while, the raid felt bad for me. I just can't get that mechanic.
The other day i was healing and witnessed a mellee redmage
Bless ‘em, they’re trying. Nobody actively wants to be bad or to waste their and everybody else’s time.
Exactly why I'll never not play healer. Players are too unpredictable. They either know a fight well or they pretend to have no legs at all
I take pleasure in helping them learn
And that is why I only play solo as a sprout.
1:01
-tank is dying
-healer stone spams
Accurate WHM gameplay right there.
tbh, I'm happy when a tank does my job harder, I would fall asleep if it weren't for them
It's all fun and games until you get a sprout tank and healer. In Aurum Vale.
We’re doing our best
I don't play XIV but this community makes me wanna play it so bad
it does have a good story tbf, i highly recommend giving the free trial a spin and see what you think about it
You've got nothing to lose, except hundreds of hours.
The free trial goes all the way to stormblood, lvl 70 and all that fun stuff. (As of patch 6.5)
I didn't even know stacks went past 5 xD
Some sprouts... grow faster than others.
Then it's honestly on them. x'D
King did try to press mitigation button
Bruh, this one reason I don't heal. I tank as paladin and I do my best to be more aware.
It was amazing to see a white mage actually heal as well
It always baffles me when they don't, since using the lilies is straight-up a damage boost.
Chaotic stupid fr.
@@th0rne_999 it’s dps neutral 3 GCDs is the same dps as blood lily. But regardless, WHM has the easiest healing and most never heal. Which is why I never rank WHM as a brain dead healer. Because some people and by some I mean most, find a way to make something brain dead difficult.
Christ, I would of hated to be that sprout getting ragged about
the prominence spam on nidhogg broke me, man i wish i was a sprout again LOL
being new to a game is such a whimsical experience that you get to go through only once, since you're learning a lot, but you're also having fun regardless if you know the mechanics or not
Can relate even with non sprouts sometimes, being a healer main and clearing every ultimate...
Me seeing a Sprout doing Mistakes: "Dont worry.. we all had to learn it once :) "
Me seeing a "Mentor" doing really bad mistakes: "You are a fucking disappointment!"
i am very fortunate to not come across the "mentors" that only signed up for the crown and nothing else, and also not know how to play their game
there's a reason why they're on the bottom of the ffxiv hierarchy
How does one even evolve from being a sprout having a bunch of classes leveling them up and being able to play any role don't do it?
Benediction exists to make your life easier, use it.
nice
as a tank i love to give my healer ptsd by rushing mass pull mobs😂.
but dont worry. no one died yet.(thanks to my tank ocd and potions) and my healers seems quite adaptive and pro with it 😝
i used to be a sprout.
I am definitely that one sprout that gives healers a massive headache XD
And then you have the sprout healers….. My friend complains I play to much on warrior and there is a reason why I do.
Please tell me I didn’t see that guy using his aoe combo on nidhogg…👀
My character will forever have the sprout over her tiny head it seems. Im into shadowbringers now and she still has it. I will say i am a veteran MMO player but new to FF14. Always wonder how folks felt to have a tank with the sprout over their heads. As for ke tanking...think ive only died twice so far during the games content. Im sure that will change as i go farther i to the storylines though hehe.
Sprite here. Only been playing for about 2 months now and I’m nearly ready to begin playing with others. Once I get paladin ready. I usually always play medic whenever I play online games so this will be interesting. I joined a free company a week ago and once I’m ready they’ll more than happy allow me to join routlettes. Then I can ask them to critique the crap out of me. Like make it your goal to make me cry.
I rolled healer as a sprout because I'm a masochist and I hate myself (:
