- This is part 4 of a recent roadtrip Karl's Thailand and I did in rural Kanchanaburi province. Today, we start at Vajiralongkorn Dam, a mighty fine and massive erection at the base of the lake. We stop at a vouple of places in Khao Laem National Park and then head to the Three Pagodas Pass. After running out of petrol, we end the day in the wonderful, sleepy little town of Sangkhlaburi.

Good to see some squiggles again.
Oh!!! My favourite vlogger just commented on my little old video! I just spat out my coffee, told the Mrs and she replied "that's nice dear". Have a wonderful day Benjamin ❤🙏✌ PS I would be more than happy to accompany you to some more squiggly places if you ever return.
Lovely dip in the pond at the end there JB. Thanks for taking us along on your journey.
Thanks a lot Bruce. I had a good swim in the river. Then, lying in bed later, I started to think of what may be living in there 😅😅
@@JBWanders73 If you thought about what could be in that river, you may never have taken that dive lol...
nice one mate
Thanks mate
Hi JB,amazing travel ! I have been 2004 after Tsunami in End of Dez. in Sanklaburi and three Pagoda pass, we tryed to cross the border, but No Chance !, - people have been very thankful for our visite. Absolute great informations, Thank you very much ! Thumbs up 👍🙏❣
Thanks a lot mate. It's beautiful up there as you know. I bought a load of snacks from Burma but my battery ran out. 😁🙃
I am making a scooter trip there next week from Hua Hin.
Should I pre-book hotels or just ruck up?
Thank you for sharing this video.
I am putting out a video tonight on Sangkhlaburi, which shows the guesthouse a little. I would just rock up; from Monday-Thursday it is pretty quite mate. I thought P Guesthouse, located waterside, was tremendous value, although their kitchen was closed. What a great trip you have planned!
Quite impressive the dam is. I love how much research you usually put into your videos, mate.
Thanks B, appreciate that mate
When you have to fill up your car by the whisky bottle, you know you're in an outpost ;=)
Haha spot on there Serge! 😀
Duty free shop?
My battery ran out.... there is a really cool little shop in the market, choc-a-bloc full of booze and cigs. There is quite a selection of liquor.
“Back ont road again” is Danny the fat lad off Rate My Take-Away. I claim my JELLY TOTS!
Haha addaboy.... this has backfired as I don't know where to buy jelly tots in Bangkok... would you accept Dewberry biscuits - 3 different flavours? 😂✌🙏
@@JBWanders73Dewberry biscuits? Three different flavours? Hmmmm tempting unless they’ve been at the back of your kitchen cupboard since Xmas 2018. Send photographic evidence.
I have never been to the dam yet and not sure how to get there via any public transportation. I am guessing it is closer to get there from Thong Pla Phum city? Are there any guesthouses on the road up in that direction. Will be heading back in that area in about another month for more serious exploring.
It really was not that long ago that the Bangkok Thais started invading the rural areas on the weekends and or buying up all the land in certain places. You can still find a few places most tend to ignore.
About twenty years ago at the border crossing there was a shop selling wood items from Burma. There was an open bamboo door behind the shop. At the foot of the door there was a mental pipe with a Thai flag painted on it. I had a big bulky film camera and video cam as I stepped in Burma still believing I was in Thailand. (I did not notice the mental pipe.) Oops!
It may be b best to get there by motorcycle mate. Fortunately, you - just like me - obviously know quite a few areas that haven't been 'invaded' yet and long may they remain.
My mate went through that border about 30 years ago, 20 km into Burma and back without anyone batting an eyelid (palms were likely lightly greased).
